1080p at 75% rendering resolution, this solved it for me

Yes taking a screenshot it looks normal
Oh, pretty cool that it was solved with just the driver setting, I thought it's display/game related just because it was fixed if I turned the monitor off and then back on. Hopefully they fix it in the game too, and it doesn't happen in others.

Anyone playing at 4K can recommend some settings? Can't wait to get stuck into this, last FF I played was FF9 on my PS1 so it's been a while..

Specs:
i7 6700
1080Ti
16gb ram

Code:
i7 4790k
SLI 980Ti (tested ON/OFF)
16GB
W10 64bits

3360x1440 everything maxed @30fps constant

I'm having a strange issue on the intro cinematic, when the crew is pushing the car, before you start manually pushing, my GPU(s) are taxed @100% and the game runs at like 5 fps. That scene was fine on the demo.

Once I have controls it runs normally.
Anyone else with a similar problem?
Ok, so I found the culprit.
It seems that enabling Shadowlibs causes this issue:
  • everything except this one on max/enabled, cutscenes runs fine
  • everything max/enabled + Shadowlibs, framerate during cutscenes tanks to 5 fps

This is really strange because I didn't had this problem on the demo.

Anyone else having issues with shadows on characters being red or green tinged? I changed all settings and couldn't get it to go away. Looks terrible. Look at their lips to see easily, or any of the cutscenes where the faces are close, all the shadows have red and green tinge.

Ok i'm getting massive stuttering at 30fps lock in the game. also a couple freezes that drop to the teens then back to 30 after a couple seconds. Any fix for this? I have a 1080ti, SSD, 32GB RAM 3960x CPU. Figured i could max it and get 30 at 4k. If anyone knows a setting that could be causing this please let me know. huge bummer i'm gonna wait yo get some answers on what to lower/change before playing more

Does Ambient Occlusion look like ass for anyone else?

Best example is the shop in Hammerhead. The items on the wall look awful with AO set to highest. It's like shadows or something are all blurry/pixelated. It's hard to describe. With AO off the problem goes away completely but everything looks too "clean" or sterilized.

Here are some example images:

The second one especially looks bad in motion.
Yeah regular AO looks really bad, it's probably computed from a low resolution texture, hence all the artifacts. Maybe MIP levels will be moddable once the tools are released.

For those with alt tab issues, download + use Borderless Gaming. It forces proper borderless so you can alt tab without it switching to windowed mode. G-sync users must have it enabled for fullscreen+windowed apps for it to work.

Each pose is unique, so at least that's right.

It seems like for both VXAO and Regular AO, the Average setting either doesn't do anything OR extends coverage farther into the distance. My screens are CQ here, so the difference might not show up.

Seems like if you are performance limited but want the looks in cut scenes or in battle, you should decided between VXAO ON-NONE AO and VXAO OFF-HIGH AO.

EDIT:^^^I guess I can try to look for some in hammerhead really quickly.

Maybe it's because I keep looking at PS4 screenshots, but this game on PC looks pretty clear to me by comparison

PS4 Pro Quality mode vs PC MAX (same time of day.)

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/133727

VXAO looks superb to me.

Nice comparison there, but this is definitely a PC players perspective. You get accustomed to high image quality from so many other games, but when a game isn't quite there, it is obvious. There are quite a few games like this lately, where it takes this kind of comparison to really see a difference. Still, since I rarely check out the comparision I still feel a bit frustrated that I can't quite get the IQ the way I want it. Having said that I haven't investigated enough, and no doubt mods and community will have some solutions

FPS seems to go haywire after coming out of Nvidia Ansel until a restart. The demo did the same :/

This was happening for me as well. In my case I noticed that it was constantly trying to switch between keyboard+mouse and gamepad controls as the onscreen button prompts for everything kept switching for no apparent reason. I had to reboot the game to fix it.

You should do VXAO ON- NONE AO if you can afford it, the regular AO in this game looks like ass, and has flickering issues.

I'm also noticing using 4k Textures with only 6GB GPU RAM is causing streaming textures to use the lowest quality versions, like the billboard at hammerhead, or in the store. The textures look better with Assets set to off.

For some reason, FFXV doesn't have an exclusive fullscreen option, only 2 options: windowed, and borderless windowed mislabeled as 'Fullscreen'. It was the same in the benchmark and the demo.

Ishiro Can this information be added to the OP?

This is wrong. Press Alt+Enter. Maybe you have windows game mode turned on or something. I 100% have exclusive fullscreen mode. Easy to tell if you have a volume button on your keyboard. If the volume pops up, its not exclusive, if it doesn't, it is.

Yep exact same thing happened to me with the controller and keyboard/mouse switching coming out of Ansel. It goes nuts and tries to constant force keyboard and mouse.

Can't find any cats in hammerhead :(

OK.

For my rig (4770k, 1080 ti, 32GB DDR3 - all oc'd). I'm getting pretty good performance out of VXAO+AP right now. About what I was with the demo.
All settings maximum, 1080p, 125%, 60fps cap. If you're resolution is higher, you're probably going to have a bad time.
The problem is that I have less overhead, so when I dip, I dip.

BTW, the Luminous Customization Tool seems to be gone now, can anyone see it in the game files? Guess it was just placeholder. It didn't work with everything very well before, but it would've been nice to not have to use an ini. Maybe mod number 1 will be to port the demo LCT to the full game?

Thanks for the comparison and info. Your screenshots persuade me to turn on VXAO while turning down resolution percentage and other stuff to achieve stable 60 fps. With VXAO, the game looks stunning!

So this game not only keeps crashing, it crashes Steam along with it. Does anybody have any advice for me? Here's specs.

Hitting 12gb of RAM usage. Perfect timing to have finally upgraded from 8gb recently.
i5 7600k + gtx 1080. Maxed out, about 75fps 1080p, 55-60fps 1440p.

Setting TRAM to high in the full release lets the ram climb up to over 9 gb whereas is the demo it stayed around 7+ gb.

I have had better stuttering results using the in game cap at 60fps vs 120fps ingame cap+60fps in RTSS. This was using driver forced vsync+triple buffering+borderless windowed via BG. Going to try in game vsync+driver forced triple buffering with BG.

My only issue so far is that it isn't alt+tab friendly at all. I'm alt+tabbing while on full-screen it switches the game to some weird windowed mode and the only way to switch it back is to go to the options, turn fullscreen off then turn it on again.
Weird, I can go back to fullscreen after alt-tabbing with a simple alt+enter as usual.

Hopefully I didn't get mixed up after taking each, but they should be labeled correctly. Yes, VXAO ON-AO OFF does indeed look like that.
I can't see the difference between AO High and Average. Is it taxing on High?

Finally a comprehensive comparison :P Thanks for these, the differences are pretty stark.

Does it control battle effects or is it more like depth of field and stuff?

The battle effects like the particle effects? Pretty sure those aren't affected. It's more like the heat haze/bloom, dof, aggressiveness of the TAA blur.

Again, average might just control how far the ao extends into the distance - I'm not sure. Pics are close quarters, indoors (which might have custom "volumes" applied, and might differ between different types/sizes of buildings or something, compared to outdoors). Not sure if AVG VXAO and AVG Reg AO do the same thing.

After playing a couple hours I have to say: Damn, I love the look of the game. The lighting feels natural, animations are great, visuals are so much ahead of the console versions it's insane. Makes for some beautiful screenshots. AND it runs very well, it's a really good port.

980ti oc, i5 8600k @4.8 and 16gb ddr4 ram.

Everything for the most part plays and looks amazing with everything on high(lighting highest) and Nvidia effects off. I'm only playing at 1080p since that's what keeps me above 60fps in every situation thus far. Hopefully will give me headroom for the later areas.

When I increase the resolution to 1440p I'll stay above 60 easy until battles then it'll drop to the mid 50s when using certain skills which isn't bad but annoying considering I have 70-80+ fps in all else. Maybe that's something that can be fixed.

GTX 980 stock / 4690k @ 4.4 @1080p My performance has been mostly the same compared to the demo on high settings with no Nvidia options(60-70). Then I made it to Duscae... Hello 40-50 fps and 30 fps in combat. None of the settings seem to make any difference if I lower them or not.

How much taxing is NVIDIA hairworks in this? I played for about an hour so far and locked it at 60 FPS @ 1080p w/ an i7-4790k, 1070, 16 Gb RAM with everything on high with the NVIDIA hairworks off but the other NVIDIA options on. I remember it pretty taxing in the Witcher 3 for my 970.

I can't see the difference between AO High and Average. Is it taxing on High?
In the same place I took the screenshots from earlier - 2400x1350 (1080p,125%), all other settings maxed. Important stuff:
VXAO ON-HIGH AO - 66fps
VXAO ON-NONE AO - 70fps
VXAO OFF-HIGH AO - 76fps

Things just keep on moving in the background (the bros keep on getting in the way, each of them on screen lowers my fps by about 3 each), so my fps is constantly moving. Otherwise, I'm not seeing a different between AVG and HIGH, VXAO or AO, or both. Again, I'm in a closed off volume from the rest of the game, so without any technical insight, I dunno.

One thing I can say is - for me, for now, all high settings + a little extra resolution over 1080p is worth sacrificing 120fps or 1440p+. Game just looks too incomplete for my tastes without all the bells, and I'm still hitting 60fps. I hope my opinion doesn't change when I get new monitor hardware soon.

i play at 50hz vsync on my 4k TV, 60fps are not possible @ 4k (with nice graphics), dips under 50 are there, but its ok.

everything maxed out, except nvidia stuff (but hairworks on), motion blur off, i went from shadows high to ultra (cant see a performance loss).

bye the way, the HD texture pack has no performance impact but look much better (esp. the ground)

Annnnd another crash this time at the second shack when I assume a cinematic is about to start, I'm starting to wonder if it's the game or if it's RTSS.

That's three or four crashes I've had in about an hour of play time.

About that.

Is it a texture pack?

The description is a little vague aside from the movie part, which I'm guessing are the CG cutscenes.

"This pack allows you to enjoy FINAL FANTASY XV in high resolution.
Experience the world of FINAL FANTASY XV as you have never seen it before, with even more beautiful movie scenes and meticulously drawn characters and backgrounds."

Well, I'm in trouble.

Game ran wonderfully, possibly better than the demo and was looking great. [GTX 1060 OC a little, 8600k OC a little for 16GB DDR4 - ITX Machine]

After about 30mins with Afterburner showing the temps, I notice my CPU at 50% to 60% load peaking at 100C!! The load was on average around 90-95C..... I just hadn't tried an truly taxing game for the hardware in quite a long while..

Gonna have to change to a new ITX case that able to fit a better cooler.

I'm happy to confirm I'm not experiencing the dialogue audio issues I had with the demo! I still have the controller + keyboard framedrops, but looking at the steam forums that seems like a common enough issue so I'm assuming that'll get fixed down the line if they give this game proper support on PC, as they should.

Not sure what to do about this big hitches during some of the cutscenes though. They seem to be present at every preset for me so I cranked things up back to high. For example: during the car pushing cutscene, the game basically froze for a second when the scripted car drove by and when the camera zoomed out at the end to show the logo. Anyone else have these? Any advice on how to fix them? I thought it had to do with asset load during the demo, but it's installed on an SSD now so that doesn't seem right to me.

Doggo hairworks confirmed

How did ye figure out F1 hides the mouse cursor, are there other hidden hot keys for other stuff?
