It's the most minor thing ever, but wouldn't mind them making it a bit easier to switch Crafting specialties. Just buy a Soul of the Crafter with scrips and then equip it or add the Specialist NPC's menu to a drop-down in the Scrip Exchange. Why do you have to to talk to some random NPC next to the Astrologian's Guild (?????????) and I can never remember where they are without looking at Google.

I only mention it because they improved the QoL on having to visit an NPC to collect Achievement rewards, so this is exactly the type of things they're making changes on.

I figure the NPC location made more sense when it was just ARR and Heavensward, but with 3 more expansions since then the world is a whole lot larger and his location feels weirdly out of place.

That NPC has my favorite lore in the game, though! Can't specialize in 4 classes because you'd die and he won't let another person throw their life away.

(...there's also a big Soul icon on the map where they're standing. Not that it's ever easy to see icons when they're close to other stuff, of course.)

They could probably stand to rework some of the Ishgard NPC stuff in general, though. Apparently Empyreum doesn't have some of the usual housing ward vendors/traders, because they want you to go out to the existing Ishgard spot with them that's also near that NPC? It's weird.

Or ya, overhaul the entire Specialist system. Literally the only time it ever made any difference to me was when I was competing for Saint of the Firmament rankings and the extra stats and ability to use Crafter's Delineations for extra Observes was extremely useful to fish for "Good" condition before Byregot's.

Other than that, I only use it to craft some things that drop from Extreme trials or whatever, like the bardings.

The new specialist action is pretty good too; IIRC it's being used for expert macros because it lets you easily manage the progress step at the end.

So that should come in handy for the real thing if they... actually do experts again... please...

They've added specialist exclusive crafts now (or at least Endwalker was the first time I noticed them). So they aren't fully useless as you need to limit yourself to what specialty things you want to make (such as the Susanoo weapons or certain orchetron scrolls).

Yup, and this is true for every patch! The latest extreme-related glam weapons are always specialist-only for a patch. So are the current extreme's orchestrions, furniture, and barding.

It's why I ever actually have to switch specializations. Though it's usually easy enough to constantly be ARM and some combination of BSM/ALC/GSM depending on what other people aren't selling.

I've never noticed because the only time I've had my crafters levelled high enough to notice has been now XD

Unfortunately they haven't even indicated any Skysteel Tool-type DoH/DoL relic grinds that would possibly include Expert crafting. By this point in Shadowbringers, we already knew we were getting the first step of those in 5.2x.

seems like alot of those resources, as well as the exploration zone resources (bozja/eurika) are being put in to island secury instead.

Only short at least - ping looks to be responding now for me so it shouldn't be long if it's not up already.

I guess I don't expect the full relic treatment this time around (unfortunately), but the Resplendent ones kinda came out of nowhere and I'd hope they'd at least do that again, so I won't give up hope yet… even if it takes till the end of the expansion like those did.

My adventures in Heavensward have been really fun. I'm glad I'm not rushing and doing all the side quests. The Nomind/Onemind stuff was super interesting (I got sad when that gone Gnath went back), and hanging out with a 30 year old dragon baby was fun too. Thanks to everyone who answered any questions. I'm gonna slow down because I'm sleeping like 4 hours a night (I love this game).

I finally reached level 60 in Hydatos last night. I was looking up preparation guides for Baldesion Arsenal and was wondering, is it strongly advised that everyone go in with BiS Eurekan gear? Hydatos has been a real slog and I was wondering how much more grinding I have to go through to realistically be able to take on BA and be done with Eureka.

Absolutely not. Don't even worry about it, there will be other players who have run it multiple times doing so much damage that mechanics get skipped left and right. New players just have to worry about not dying. Get your Vemillion Cloak/Kirin's Osode if you can, bring the right Logos Actions (Spirit of the Remembered, mostly), and listen to the callouts, that's about it.

From what I remember about doing BA the more important bit is making sure you have the right Logos for your role inside the dungeon. More Elemental gear will serve to maximize your dps but I don't think a full set is required to be useful. If anything just make sure you pick up either Vermillion Cloak or Kirin's Osode and you should be good. Any Elemental gear beyond that will be helpful of course(but not required).

Glad to hear, thanks. I really have like Eureka overall, but as I said, Hydatos was a tough one to soldier through so I really wasn't looking forward to having to grind further to just have a decent shot in BA.

No problem, and yeah I totally get that feeling that Hydatos felt a little long in the tooth by the end of it.

Godspeed with obtaining your Ozma ✌️!

friends made sure we took a pic of my weaponless loser self

It's really insane how they don't have the newer job weapons for the older Ultimates, especially as they are designed to be "evergreen" content and always relevant and difficult. Like, not even just re-using dungeon or tome gear and slapping the pretty texture and effect on it. It feels like they only do it with PotD/HoH because they are forced to and it's easier to slap the texture on than the texture AND design the effect for the weapon.

I would say you don't even need Vermy/Osode, although is a plus if you want to keep doing Eureka/BA after your first clear. BA runs on Discords are pretty much carries nowadays. Remembered logo is the only true must because there's no normal raise in BA.

If you go with a discord-organized BA run, you'll be fine as long as you bring the logos they ask you to bring. BA is pretty easy with folks familiar with it who bring high-powered logos loadouts. Ozma will fall over as long as everyone is heeding callouts and not getting sucked out of the instance.

They mentioned they plan on putting weps in for the newer jobs after people been asking for it for a while now during the EW interviews. Like I wouldnt be shocked if the ucob reaper scythe is the current tome one

That's good. Seems like something you'd think would've been done without needing to be asked but it's good they are going to do it.

Yess, so happy that the VAs have found a way to monetise the fandom . They will neve get paid enough for the amazing jobs they do. Someone needs to tell Rene Zagger (Emets VA) about Cameo, because he will just be raking in the money.

The best thing about Zenos' VA doing Cameos was how high effort his performance was in them all even the stupid stuff. I can't even imagine the shitposts people would have Zagger performing lol

The majority of "BiS Eureka gear" requires you to have done BA itself for the fragments to trade for it anyway, so you're not exactly expected to have it going in, hah. Like you could make your Elemental gear +1 now... but it only gets the Elemental bonus at +2, which you get with those fragments, so it's not going to change anything for you currently. You should just wear higher ilvl stuff that syncs down as usual.

That being said, I would have recommended buying the tokens to get the cloak/osode for Eureka in general (as it is effectively BiS for the slot(s)). But it's a little late for that if you're already at this point. You'll also get 1 of each token per BA run anyway.

Thanks for the tips everyone. One last question regarding BA: what's the etiquette for joining one of the discords that conduct runs? Do I just join it and ask when their next run is? I'm very Discord illiterate.

I believe most discords like that will make use of bots to ensure a fair and easy sign-up process. I'd say just join the one for your data center and see what their process looks like.

The Aether BA discord I joined for it expected you to do a couple prog/learning parties(parties where it's not expected to see the whole dungeon in one go, basically) before you sign up for a completion run, but I have no idea what these sorts of discord servers are like these days as it was like 3 years ago now that I did BA.

The primal forays discord runs expedited learning runs a couple times a week. Expedited runs are brief rundowns of mechanics w/calls. They use one channel to gauge interest for specific times/dates and enough people express interest the run will be put on the calendar. BA is kinda tricky since you have to be in the same Hydatos instance, so the groups are setup prior to instancing into Hydatos. The groups will be put on the private party finder section and the passwords are posted in discord so it's first come, first serve. Spots go pretty fast, but if you're having trouble getting into a group there's always more runs and you could try, nicely, reaching out to the run host and see if they'll let you prefill. It's kind of intimidating at first, but from what I've seen people are nice and willing to help people out.

Also on Aether and did my BA clears last fall. At that point the learning groups were more of a caveat - there were enough active people in the Discord that they could basically carry as long as people weren't screwing up horrendously.

But yeah, last I checked it'll be posted and have reactions for each role - you'll pick the roles you're bringing or can bring, and they'll reach out to you if enough people sign up. It's all pretty automated by Discord bots that the community made.

They'll put feelers out for a run at X time, and if enough people sign up they'll send out invites and get things moving.

Curious about crafting gear for my alt-jobs and how that will work for 6.2. Next patch should have a new set of marketboard gear for combat jobs right? Like an upgrade from the Classical Gear (590) currently available, but it would be all new mats new recipes, and then later upgrade with a new Rain (like the Crucible Rain). I'm assuming nothing I'm crafting/buying now with classical could be upgraded to new gear come next month?

I'm just trying to get a handle on this since I kind of ping-ponged around jobs for a lot of EW and bought my tomegear in a pretty inefficient way. Just want to be clear on how I prepare and what I can't prepare going into next tier.

There will be a new set of crafted gear that will be i610 (can augment to 620 in 6.3 with whatever new type of Rain is added). The weekly-restricted Tomestone gear will be 620 (augmented to 630 with an item that drops from Savage), and the Savage gear 630.

You're right that basically everything will be new. A lot of the materials aren't even available yet and will be added on the same patch, so there's only so much preparation you can do. New gear, new materials, new tomestones.

One thing that is important is to stockpile 2000 of the Tomestones of Astronomy before the patch, as those will become the new UNRESTRICTED Tomestones and will be used to buy the materials for crafting that new 610 gear. You will also be able to exchange Aphorism for Astronomy at an exchange rate of something like 4:1 (I forget exactly), so cap that too. Basically just do your Expert roulettes the weeks before the patch and don't spend the Tomes.

The new Extreme trial will also be giving 615 weapons and with the week delay on Savage, the usefulness of the crafted 610 weapons will be diminished.

im sitting on 2k tomestones, 12m gil and 610 fox leaves (to sell the new unreal mount) I will be pushing, though pf can be rough, to kill and get the new ex wepon. planning to be full 610+615 wepon before savage.

After a few days of nothing with fishing, I managed to pull out The Ondotaker on a literal last-second cast tonight.

I'm down to just 8 big fish left: Charibenet, Sea Butterfly, Stethacanthus, Warden of the Seven Hues, The Ruby Dragon, Lancetfish, Cinder Surprise, and Ealad Skaan. I'm familiar with all the methods of preparation for all of those fish and I've had unsuccessful bites on some, so it's just a matter of rolling the dice on them at this point.

Getting ready to do The Aery today (I've started reading up/watching videos on dungeons/bosses because I don't want to be a burden) but overall I'm feeling pretty confident in my WHM game. Plus I will tell a Tank to chill.

The scene with Hraesvelgr and Ysayle made me a little sad. I hope Ysayle makes it through HW. I'm still not over Moenbryda.

The live letter recap went up on the official forums and they mentioned the extensive adjustments/rework for dragoon & astro will be put off until 7.0. Minor updates will continue and they're going to put out explanations for job changes separate from the patch notes.
In previous Letter LIVEs, we mentioned that dragoon and astrologian would receive extensive adjustments in Patch 6.2; however, we'll be postponing these adjustments based on the feedback we've received since Patch 6.1. Making extensive adjustments to a job on a fundamental level would involve numerous changes. The sheer number of changes would make it difficult to fully explain our intentions for each one, so we believe we should wait for an expansion release to make adjustments of that scale. With that said, rest assured we'll continue to make minor adjustments.

When we publish the 6.2 patch notes, we are also planning to release explanations for job adjustments separately from the patch notes. Our goal is to clearly explain our intentions in their entirety, so please take a look when they're released. Although we understand that publishing our intentions will not necessarily mean everyone will agree with our job adjustments, but we'd still like to alleviate the current situation where players are completely left in the dark when it comes to changes.

Blah, was hoping to take that AST opener out back sooner than 7.0, I don't know if I can deal with it that long. At least SCH remains super comfy for me (SGE too) outside of the downtime windows being zzz. Been that way for awhile tho so whatever.

Patch note transparency seems like a pretty good idea, though it's difficult to actually get a feel for player feedback that leads to changes until after they already tell us about it. They don't have a PTR or other equivalent...

Thank god they are not going to change much about DRG for this expansion. I can kind of understand that they need to change sth. about Dragoon in order to be able to add more stuff to it in future expansions but I don't think doing half-assed changes mid-expansion makes sense especially since DRG is completely fine as it is right now.

Kinda glad DRG changes are being pushed back because yeah, it feels fine (especially if on PC and you use XIV combo, everything just flows so nicely). I understand the devs wanting to shake things up in order to add more stuff to it because right now, it just feels "complete" and adding stuff to it would just feel like either tacking on new systems or just giving a new button/button upgrades like we got in EW.

No clue about AST but I've never been a fan, it's still lvl30 for me and I don't even carry a wep for it in my armoury. Just reading the skills had me confused and then the simplification of it had me just as confused reading the skills when it seemed like half the cards were just the same as the other half so like... why have two cards for each type that just do the same thing? I'll never play AST but will buy a skip book when they are next on sale so I can get an Amaro.
