I didn't think the x3 speed thing would interest me that much but now I can't stop using it lol. Between World of Final Fantasy's fast-forward button and now this... my impatient tendencies can go wild.

I was 10 also. My schoolmate brought it over and I had no idea what it was. We played it and I thought it was pretty cool, but I didn't really get into it for a couple months. He left it at my house and never asked for it back. So many memories around that game. One of my favorites was when my dad took the memory card out of the slot because I was playing too much. The game was still going so I played for a good few days without shutting the playstation off. The crazy part of that experience was discovering the sunken plane for the first time and having no idea what I was getting myself into. I remember almost dying and losing hours and hours of progress.

Oh man, that's terrifying, haha. Congrats, 10-year-old Glassboy, for narrowly evading a tremendous loss of progress!

To no one's surprise, the glitch is still there

Wondering what Yamauchi would be thinking if he was still around - " Eh...took you long enough, checkmate"

Growing up on purely Nintendo, I remember the game my friend and his brother walked to an ebgames, bought a PlayStation with Final Fantasy VII.
I would just sit and watch them play for hours. They were nice enough to let me create a save file and play through the game. I was hooked and managed to borrow a PlayStation just to beat the game.
I'm really going to love playing the first 15 minutes tomorrow.

Happy it's coming to Switch.

A little miffed at the same time that it took such a ridiculously long time for Nintendo/XBox owners to have a version. Unless Sony paid for the damn development of the game, Square should've told them to pound sand a long time ago.

Well, at least we can enjoy the music with No Encounters turned on. I plan on using that and 3x during grind stints because I'm crazy like that

These are not ideal ports but the convenience features are worth it to me as I've played these games plenty over the years. They have some crust on them.

I have access to a PSP and the PS Classic version of this game already. Is there any reason to purchase this version other than the built in cheats?

What glitch, the music restarting?
Yup.

After every battle where the music changes, the audio outside of the battle will reset. So at the very start where it's playing Opening/Bombing Mission the glitch doesn't occur, but once inside the reactor and it alternates from Mako Reactor to Those who Fight, and Victory Theme, when it comes out, Mako Reactor has reset.

While not super noticeable on that track, on the World Map for Disk 1 and some of Disk 2, you're going to REALLY notice it.

This is the RPG that got me into RPGs. The first I ever played, all those years ago. Even though I've platinumed it on PS4 I'm definitely getting this again just to be able to play it anywhere and to support the possibility of more rpgs coming to the Switch.

While the "no encounter" option is nice to have, won't you be too underlevel in some parts since the game was never developed with that in mind?

Isn't it a port of the PC version? The ironing is not as delicious.

I will get all the main FF games on Switch, even if I'm not terribly big on classic-style RPGs.

For all new players: do your best to get as many Enemy Skills as possible. They help *immensely* as the game goes on.

Also dont worry about trying to get Beta immediately, but do try to get it before Junon.

Also don't believe what any haters might say, Yuffie is amazing.

How come FF7 got to keep its font? I wanted FF9 to retain its font. :(

FFVII's original font looks a lot less janky on non-CRT screens, I find, than FFIX's does. That said, FFIX should have definitely had the original font in there as an option. The one they chose is a big improvement over the plain Helvetica they used for FFVI, but it still loses a bit of the character of the original.

Look, I have the original black label PS1 version from back in the late 90s when I was in high school, the digital PS1 classic release during the PS3 era, the PC version, the PS4 version.....so why the hell am I so compelled to get this again for my Switch?!

What is this sickness!

Man..do I wanna try playing through this game yet again? I think I got through like 1/3 of the game on 2-3 different systems before quitting for whatever reason. Either try again on Switch or wait for the remake..

I can't decide if I should buy it. I never played it before, but with it being so popular I ended up getting spoiled on major plot points even though they're kinda hazy in my mind now. It costs quite a bit and I don't have the love I had for FF9 to make me blind in this regard... Although having its icon on my Switch home screen would look nice next to 9, which looks awkward by itself.
And if I'm being fair, it looks really ugly, but I'm sure I will love it anyways in the end.
Decisions, decisions...

So, I e hit the first damn screen and already have a bug... I have a buster sword icon with a red line through it, which I assume it supposed to show you can't skip the cutscene or something...?

Trouble is, I'm in the game running around...

Won't go away.

Also, no control configuration...? Eh...? Hmm...

Edit: ignore me... didn't know this shows up when you use the cheat buttons. Didn't even know I had them used? Must have pressed them on the load...
