#WellActually, you highly disagree, not the franchise of Kingdom Hearts. The franchise of Kingdom hearts has been highly successful. Kingdom Hearts III itself was one of the top 20 best selling games of last year and had a decent metacritic. "Nomura bullshit" can be a thing but some people, like me, enjoy it.Kingdom Hearts highly disagrees. He can relish in FFV:R being a success since it wasn't originally written by him (Thank God)
But that man should never touch a pen again for anything solo.

“Final Fantasy 7 Remake sold 2.2M units digitally around the globe in April, according to SuperData estimates. This is a record for the series & a PlayStation exclusive, outpacing Marvel's Spider-Man. Note that previously Square Enix said the game sold 3.5M in its first 3 days.”twitter.com
Say it LOUDER 🗣🗣 lmao

I hope the devs are taking this quarantine situation as an opportunity to really map out the story and design so they can hit the ground running with all the technical stuff once normal work resumes. So excited for Part 2, it's killing me, aaaaahhhhhh.
Bingo, not downplaying because it is deserved, much better game than XV,I never expected to sell less.Amazing results.
Though I don't think it being exclusive matters as much since the majority of the fanbase is on PS anyway and PS4s current install base might be bigger than what PS/Xbox had combined in 2016.
You speak some truth too. It's pretty sad to see all the praise going only to Nomura, when this game is clearly Kitase's pet project and a team effort with more than one director (yes, even Motomu Toriyama).
Does NPD count digital? If not then it could be a case of digital sales being higher.Damn, with the social media engagement I was sure that Animal Crossing would hold onto the #2 spot but didn't anticipate FF7 beating it and COD. Impressive and well deserved
Tbf he also gets the most shit so it balances out lol. It's pretty sad to see all the praise going only to Nomura, when this game is clearly Kitase's pet project and a team effort with more than one director (yes, even Motomu Toriyama).

They would be silly not to.I wonder if Sony has locked down the whole remake as a timed exclusive or just part one.
Correct, for 2020 so far its 1st Call of Duty, 2nd Animal Crossing.Which are the top 2 best selling games? Animal Crossing and Modern Warfare?
Toriyama redeemed. His role in VII Remake is where he excels -- it's when he's given lead writer and/or lead director duties that things go sour. I hope he sticks around as head of scenario design for the remainder of the project.
This game's success is well deserved. There are quibbles -- there will always be quibbles -- and plenty of them are justified. But on the whole, VII Remake is fantastic. It sets the board for future installments fairly well, but where it excels is in its characterization. And the cast is a big part of why the original title is so beloved. If Cloud were overly mopey, or Aerith too prim, or Tifa too bubbly, or Barret too one-note, the script would have suffered in unfortunate ways. But not only did none of this happen; Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge were all expanded-upon brilliantly. These are heroes worthy of their notoriety in the gaming medium and I'm optimistic that future party members will also shine.
I recall some data points a few weeks back which gave certain folks an impression that this game performed well -- but not as well as FFXV. There were a few too many heated exchanges over that (as in, there were any to begin with, which is silly). Now it seems that wasn't true after all. Whether you're a fan of VII Remake or XV -- or both -- I think we can at least agree that commercially speaking, Final Fantasy is in a great place again.
And if you're not a fan of either, er, I guess you can still agree with that statement.
Nice! I look forward to playing the complete version of FF7R one day. Hopefully I am still alive by then.
I was quite surprised when they published an interview with Toriyama prior to the release knowing his infamous popularity among FF fans. However it's clear from the interview that he has a major role in this game and SE still rates him highly. With Naoki Hamaguchi promoted as the other co-director, and Nomura as the lead Director forming a Trio, Kitase certainly played an important part in unifying this A team.Toriyama redeemed. Those people had to know nothing about sales or crazy .
HZD and UC 4 slod less in a longer time and well over 10 million now.
Unless the game legs get cut off this will end up being the best selling FF game.

Praise. Blame. Everyone's eyeing on him. It's pretty sad to see all the praise going only to Nomura, when this game is clearly Kitase's pet project and a team effort with more than one director (yes, even Motomu Toriyama).
