I need some ending stuff explained.

So the whispers were there to keep things going as they originally did but since we seemingly kill them or something at the end does this mean story events have the potential to be different in part 2? That would suck if that was the case because my favourite thing about this remake was that it was pretty faithful to the original story, knowing they might change stuff in part 2 really kills my excitement for it.

Pretty much. We've basically been playing a ridiculously expensive and overproduced version of those old "What if..." marvel comics where Sephiroth travels back in time to change the original outcome of the story. It's more of a sequel than anything else. And yes, it sucks so much.

The game could have realized the original story in an amazingly presented way, but instead we're getting the Kingdom Hearts version of FF VII. Zack is seemingly alive, for one. In 25 years time we'll finally play the last instalment, where we save Aeriths life, and there are at least five versions of Sephiroth running around. I'm out as of now. I don't have time for Nomuras bullshit.

I"m on Chapter 14. While I know I have the last several chapters (and from what I hear that's some of the stronger sections), my experience so far has been mixed. This game is very bipolar. At some points I'm enjoying the hell out of it (the Wall Market section was great) but other times it's just a slog; I'm not talking about JUST the added stuff as some of it was good (Jessie''s backstory, and such) but gameplay can be a slog; when in the dungeon-y sections proper, it feels like they took the worst linear parts of FF XIII and put on a 7 coat of paint. It also doesn't help that the pacing is just all over the place as well. While FF7 :RE is far from the only example, I get annoyed when there's those "you have to do this immediately/time is of the essence!" narrative beats, but then lets you go round up some chocobos or something... just because.

So far, high highs, low lows. The best analogy I can give to my feelings on this so far is that for me, this is like the video game equivalent of the Hobbit movies... some good additions but ultimately very bloated. Especially for Act 1.

Gonna keep trucking along...

Wall Market
Did they remove the option to sit and eat at the Korean BBQ place? I want to say "I've had better dog food", but the employee just asks me questions I can't actually sit.

Magnify L1 = Choosing to cast on multiple target in a single action.
L1 Multiuse = casting spell/using item multiple times without having to leave the menu everytime. It's just convenience thing.

Can you even use L1 multiuse in battle? I only used it outside of battle for using multiple potions or cures.
Thanks that helps a lot.

This game did the most unexpected move that I can remember in videogame history.. what you realize in the end is that this game is not a Remake but a real Sequel to the original FF7. The spirits in the Remake represent the original plot trying to stop us from changing what happened in the original FF7.

After we beat them in the final battle they are gone and anything can happen now.. including a timeline where Zack is alive or we can even maybe save any other character. There is also the possibility that in the end we end up just like the original game but no one knows.. that's what makes this so exciting so I'm looking forward for the next parts.

Squarenix had the balls to do this and I just love it.

Anyways.. I have a feeling that even with all this possibilities in the end we won't be able to change the OG story.. we will have high hopes of saving Aerith and we just won't make it.. I already can tell that this part in the remake is going to be even more sad than in the OG.

Yo when the Hell House showed up I freaked out. One of the things I was wondering in the remake is how the house enemy will look like in this game and I didn't expect it until part 2. That shit was wild!

I think the changes will affect some parts. I have a theory about the loveline

I never play original. But i like it this way, in the second part we are going to play as 2nd universed cloud. Cloud will end up with aerith, tifa will let him go. But even though cloud from earth 1 doesnt love tifa, but cloud from earth 2 will. Tifa of earth 1 will end up with cloud from earth 2

This way, everyone will be happy. I think im gonna post this too in the spoiler thread

Chapter 14 is especially appalling in this regard. I'm loving the game overall but I don't understand what took them so long to make it and the amount of padding in this single locale game makes me curious to see if they're capable of even making the next couple parts.

Who was the other guy in the motorcycle?
Was it Gack?
does it ever shows up again? (I finished the game, so not sure if it's a secret boss or what)[\spoiler]

The entire end of chapter 17 had me losing it. Goddamn. The music shift on the third part of that boss is just [chef's kiss]

I actually didn't think the dungeon was that bad, except for my desire to minmax making me shift around the assess, AP Up, and EXP Up materia all the time.

If I didn't have work in the morning I'd play through to the end.

Same here. At the end of 17 and it's 4am. That dungeon was very well designed and the fights! Ooh boy!!!

This game is a 10. Can't believe how good it is. Will finish tomorrow

His name's Roche, and although he's absent the rest of the game after his introductory chapter I reckon we'll certainly be seeing more of him in future titles.

Two brief thoughts on Wall Market:

The dancing scene at the Honeybee Inn is the most I have smiled/laughed at a game in years. No, I mean it. Years. Pure ecstatic joy the entire time. I'm not a good enough writer to describe just how well I feel SE created this scene. It is perfect to me.

I was wondering what they would do about the Hell House given that by modern standards it's a pretty ridiculous enemy. Thought they would omit it. Instead, they turned it into a fucking massive spectacle and embraced the ridiculousness and created a standout moment in the game. Fucking awesome.

Still on Chapter 9...

I've been spending so much time here, lol.

The "Pro" difficulty of the squat challenge only took me a couple of tries.

Games says I'm 24 hours in... I've done every side quest up to this point. Have people been generally getting to chapter 9 hour's earlier?

I finished chapter 9 at around 18 hours.

Hell house was amazing but there was an enemy in chapter 17? I think

the mechanical saw serpent thing that was so so great. In the original it was just a random mob and here is a scary boss. As it should be because a flying saw serpent is scary as fuck.

I love the little details like this

Oh I absolutely loved that boss. Was not expecting it in the slightest and the memory of the enemy from the original list came rushing back. It also had a really cool midnight transition.

Beat Hell House on hard... first big challenge of the hard mode for me... I wasted too much MP in previous fights.

I've replayed chapter 9 multiple times but how can I get aerith to enter the collisium to do her challenges? She is the only one left :(

After beating the boss, it won't let me back in

EDIT: nevermind just got in

The only aspect of FFVII Remake where I can't, I just can't apply my suspension of disbelief is people gifting you free CDs.
Like what the hell? How am I supposed to believe that?

Yes to both accounts! I could have gone for even more of the first bit, it was just such a feel good joyful moment.

So after 100% this game a couple days ago, I've been lost in my mind. I wish there was more content only because I don't want to to get off the train.

His absence was very strange. Can't help but to feel to cut his late game content.. All the hype and renders and in the end only showed up in one chapter for a total of like 10 minutes...

Maybe will see him in a DLC.

Both FFXV and KH3 got good content after release. This better get an expansion.

I hope they improve the camera in the next game. I don't even see a difference between the different camera distance options.

I'd rather they focus on giving us Part II than spend that time on making DLC.

Um how am I supposed to kill Shiva in the hard battle simulator? She keeps healing herself and after a few hits of fire, she is no longer weak to fire

I'm doing something wrong, I just don't know what

I would have liked to see more muscle tension during these pull-ups, but maybe that's the kind of details that will be easier to do on the PS5.
