More surprised that the game is seemingly capped to 4k/120? Not a big deal at all and i'm sure a modder will sort that, but surely it supports arbitrary resolutions.

Just going off of the recommended specs and how it says "Max 3840x2160"

www.eurogamer.net

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade's standard edition will cost £65/$70 on PC

While we already knew that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is coming to PC via Epic Games Store next week, 16th Decem…

Confirmation of the price by eurogamer btw.

Base price: £65 in the UK, $70 in the US, and €80 in Europe.

"Deluxe edition": £90/$95/€105
It was £69.99 when it first got announced, so this is a £5 saving lol

Whenever you decide to buy it (based on your tolerance for pricing and platform)... just know it's a proper Great game. Incredibly fun combat system that imo should function as the template for next-gen JRPG gameplay. Game is full of charm & humor, it's surprisingly potty-mouthed (as is tradition with OG FF7) and of course nostalgia/emotion. Arguably the best soundtrack in videogame history. Tons of creatures/abilities/variety.

It's surprising not to see a "PC features" video. Years late to the party and an absurd asking price. What are we getting in return for that wait and a ludicrous price tag?

The lack of communication here makes me afraid it won't even have ultrawide support, let alone DLSS, enhanced shaders etc.

It likely wont.
Square-Enix is a joke. I mean it, Final Fantasy VII is their biggest brand and they fucked it up big times for small bucks.

Yeah, better not to expect anything at this point because advertising DLSS etc is an easy win

Who knows though, at the very least let's hope for a competent port. I think the min/rec specs are very good so it might be pretty easy to run the game

They won't. They treat the PC platform like the child they never wanted.

VII:RI could be the GOAT and the best game ever made, it does not matter. No way I'm putting 80€ on a 2 years old game with some DLC content.

SquEnix can eat shit. They probably looking at every single way to make money out of deals period. I know making video games was never as expensive as today and all but no.

Aaand it's just the very first part on top of that

I have a special relationship with FF7 as someone who paid $96 COD for the import version when it released and played through 2 discs despite not knowing Japanese, then buying the US version, playing the shit out of that and beating it a couple more times in the mid and late 2000s.

I got a free code for FF7R from a buddy who works for SoE and while I loved it, I didn't get far because console gaming hasn't done it for me in a long time, - especially since I have an absurd gaming PC - and I knew the port was coming, so was willing to wait. Not excited about the price but I'm gonna pony up the $70, ngl.

I'm kind of sad because as a Xbox user I probably won't experience FF anymore. But hey, Square just doesn't care. Their pricing and obtuse segmentation shows that I shouldn't care either.

I mean, if you'd like the alternative where they just don't port things to PC at all, then by all means. Not buying FF7R at this price won't mean they say "Oh shit, we better not try and sell games at $70", it'll just mean later ports and more "why worry about PC, sales aren't great there".

I'm not saying it's good or sensible, but also this forum is a drop in the bucket, especially when it comes to something as big as FF7. That shit will sell enough to justify the price no matter what anyone discussing it here does. We do not shape or represent the purchasing habits of the wider game-consuming public.

In other circumstances I may not have. Also, I've moved away from that kind of sentiment but I'm not apathetic to it and I don't discount yours or other's criticism. I'm not championing for the practice. Still, we all buy certain games for different reasons, in different situations at different price-points and this is a game I've loved for over 2 decades. Plus, I have the hardware to really enjoy it and I'm kind of old so money isn't a factor. In this instance I've decided to do it.

Each their own. I'd rather have no ports instead of throwing money at shit companies like Epic and S-E that making gaming worse for everyone. Poorer regions are already locked out since they can't afford to buy any game at this ridiculous price and with no regional pricing.

Also if there takeaway from poor sales is because of player don't want their product and not because they suck at doing business they can fuck off anyways.

Maybe these exclusive deals are helping fund the next part?

I'm not too savvy when it comes to game development, but that's just my guess. Could be totally off the mark, I don't know.

Given the repeated statements by the top brass on the team, there was at least some belief that part 1 wouldn't sell well enough to justify completing the series. I believe the exclusivity deals were hedges against that concern, but that's just speculation.

I mean they originally farmed off the game to CyberConnect2 whose pedigree was mainly cel-shaded anime games like the Naruto Ultimate Ninja series and Dot Hack. Square around that time was certainly smoking something.

Someone at Square probably forgot the ongoing pandemic that affects supply of GPUs and income.
Great time to play roulette on platform exclusive on PC and price up.

More like customers didn't pay. FF has never sold well on XBox platforms.
XIII and XV both launched on Xbox and both did very well. Like even if the split was 90/10, 10% of 10 million is 1 million copies.

Other than that, we haven't seen any FFs launch on Xbox day one. Square Enix doesn't want to take the effort to try and grow a potential fan base on Xbox

By those metrics, don't many of us here have a special relationship with FF7? Enough for Square to say.. harvest over several years and purchases each via a split remake?

False. XV was a worldwide release on both XBox and PS4. In Japan in particular, PS4 outsold XB1 95-to-1 in week 1, likely driven by XB1's poor sales overall in Japan. XB1's percentage was quite a bit higher in other regions, but I think there's a reason they've never explicitly delineated those numbers in all regions.

XBox has never been a platform that drives JRPG sales. There's some chicken-egg math here at play, but I think there's not much energy on either side of the equation to try to change it. And no, please stop trying to include Dark Souls in the JRPG market. These are very different sects of players with not a ton of overlap.

While true, they eventually paid to get most of the games on Game Pass. Perhaps that is the hold up now? As long as it is exclusive to EGS, the PC Game Pass version would have to wait.
I think it was funny that FFXV got on Game Pass before FFXIII did. XIII largely sold better on XBox relative to PS3 than XV did.

And EGS is any different?

Can Microsoft offer discounts on Unreal Engine licensing? Epic can, and I would be willing to bet that is part of the deal. But your point is taken - it's about building a following. I tend to wonder just how bad the dev process must have been on XIII and XV for them to just decide to ditch XBox entirely.

Sony Money hats are the reason why its not on Xbox. Look no further than Forsaken, where the fine print explicitly says console exclusive for 2 years. I would expect an Xbox port by mid next year as the clause for FF7R was 1 year and I am pretty sure it reset with the upgraded version.

So what are their thoughts on the games sales now?

They happy with it? I swear if they cut the game off midway... a lot of people aren't going to be happy, myself included.

I mean they originally farmed off the game to CyberConnect2 whose pedigree was mainly cel-shaded anime games like the Naruto Ultimate Ninja series and Dot Hack. Square around that time was certainly smoking something.

The company's decision when it comes to developing final fantasy games seems very... it's either not very efficient or they make the strangest decisions that makes things worse (looking at you ffxv project)

Don't expect this on Xbox anytime soon.

XV already had a Windows Store version prior to joining Game Pass, whereas the XIII trilogy lacked those versions. PC Game Pass just got XIII-2. Lightning Returns is probably a few months away.

If part of the deal with MS is to have them on both PC and Xbox at the same time before they can officially join Game Pass, it makes sense why there would be delays given the extra work involved with porting.

Hmm let see when Xbox actually started getting FF games at all? When did Xbox started getting them day 1? And most importantly if that was true we wouldn't see tons of games not just FF on Xbox at all. This is just Square Enix milking exclusivity money where they can. And they will continue to do it and I fi would to place a bet I would say that FFVIIR will come to Xbox as GamePass offer first not as paid product.

Last year, the Holiday sale and epic coupons started on December 17. Those $10 coupons are for any game above 15US. People buying this might as well wait a few days for a (highly probable) $10 discount!

Question now is, are they just going to put up the same price it was before, or at a discounted price?

Major dick move if it's the same lol.

Making it invisible for a couple of days isn't going to quell the rage since the problem is still there.
