Hopefully that ending with Zack will lay down to rest all shipping talk..

Even in the old timeline Zack still seemed to care for Aerith. However, she moved on from him and that is important. Also I think CC actually soured me on the Zack/Aerith stuff. Theyre so bland together imo.

I know this is a small nitpick, but I feel like they went overboard with the fog in lots of places. Like Aerith's garden. Why is it full of fog? :/

Admittedly I have seen one or two scenes where I actively like the Fog, but overall I mostly prefer PS4 non fog most of the time.

Compare the shot at 19:35 (right after she says "We can" to Cloud)

To the shot immediately afterwards, to when she says "We will."

Her eyes look smaller, her lips/mouth look smaller/thinner, and this might be from the distance but the gap between her nostrils and her lip seems to be larger

That's the same model??
Yes???

You're aware of how cameras and light sources work yes?

Yes but I'm saying that her eyes, mouth, and the gap between her nostril and mouth all look different. I know lighting and angles can make a humongous difference but with Aerith there are facial features that genuinely seem different in a lot of shots.
I'm pretty sure they're not going through the trouble of completely re-rigging and remodeling her character model just for specific shots. This isn't Hotel Transylvania lmao. Try posing a 3D model in blender similarly and you'd see what I mean.

So what happened to Nero and Weiss?
Nero is final boss of Intermission and he mentions Weiss.

I haven't seen any Weiss footage or him addressed by name in the story.
Weiss appears when Scarlett summons Nero. Weiss is surprisingly awake and sitting in a chair as Shinra scientists scan him to make the copy of him for the simulator. Nero has a brief conversation with him before he goes to fight Yuffie.

No it doesn't. Open world is a very specific genre of game. FFVII is not an open world game.
You are right. I used incorrect terminology. Most folks when discussing FFVII or nearly any JRPG is speaking on world maps. even though the games are known to be incredibly linear they are visualized as more open because of the existence of the world map. That is why the world map is such an important aspect of FFVII. The absence of one made my experience with the FFVII compilation series so hollow.

I understand that this game will not have this as the team doesn't really care for it as much.

Oh really? That is awesome as it's the first time we've seen him in a story mode really be a character (at least for western fans) before the Hojo/infection then?

Well all of him given they didn't show his face in CC or the Online Missions they cut out of the NA version of DoC.

I definitely think that *a sense of openness and exploration** is super important, and I absolutely hope the next FFVIIR game gives players that sense using whichever storytelling and design tools seem appropriate. IMO a bunch of large zones akin to FFXIII's Gran Pulse could actually achieve that pretty well, though a fully streaming overworld compatible with eventual airship use would be ideal.

I need the scoop on Sonon please.
He gets kababed multiple times by Nero at the end, as he is slowly fading away he has a moment with a young lady.

He however is not caught in the explosion or left for dead as Nero drags him into the darkness in a very odd nature that makes me think we will see him in the future as a puppet that Nero can use to taunt Yuffie.

I want him to live and join the main party. He needs to be fully playable.

Thanks~

The way it goes down I'm thinking he comes back in a later game as a Deepground experimental soldier.

Got to say they presented him much better than I feared they would.

Cocksure 100% but a million times better than his horrid intro in DoC and it will be interesting to see where they take him from here.

Don't hate it though and to me that is a win. Though I do wish they had Chadley shit his pants/get nervous when he sees Weiss generated lol.

Oh yeah, way better than what I was thinking.

Regardless of how it is though, his "ending" absolutely feels like a he will return and not a he dead and gone.

The party en route to Kalm cutscene, is that directly a part of Episode INTERMission's ending? Or is it accessible afterward from a menu or something?

I'm guessing the former, but figure I'll check and make sure. The reason I ask is that I was hoping I would be able to "pause" the main game around Chapter 8 or so, do Yuffie's chapters intermittently around that point, and then finish up the main game thereafter. AKA, "as close to chronologically accurate as possible." But with the new ending cutscene, it sounds like that's not really going to sync up as well.

Open "region" FFXII-style from Kalm to Junon, except Mythril Cave serves as a buffer so it's technically two regions.

Central continent is then multiple FFXII-style regions that weave more or less 180 degrees forward from one to another, with side paths sizable enough to give us a modern feeling of FFX's Calm Lands.

Just a guess.
I think the three hub areas will be Kalm Field (sub town chocobo ranch), the Corel Region (Main town Gold Saucer, sub town Corel, Corel Prison) and the Canyons (Main town Cosmo Canyon, sub town Gongaga) Then I guess the third act begins with the return to Nibelheim and it's linear levels until the end.

I still think Nibelheim should be the conclusion of the next part since they'll presumably have the assets and location already made for the beginning of the game and it bookends nicely. Also, Nibelheim in the original was pretty scarce on story other than picking up Vincent so they have a lot of room to make shit up for a climax

will he become the new genesis?
The Tsviets (Deepground elites like Weiss and Nero) are spliced with Genesis' cells. Sonon could be turned into a new Tsviet and get brainwashed to fight Avalanche. Kinda like how Shelke was captured, experimented on, and brainwashed.

finalfantasy.fandom.com

Tsviets

The Tsviets are an elite group of soldiers that lead the Deepground army in Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-. In the Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Complete Guide, it was revealed that colored Tsviets had their genes spliced with the genes of Genesis Rhapsodos, in addition to each of them...

An expanded and more bombastic Nibelheim as the end of Part 2 has been one of my dark horse predictions all year! Ha. Glad to see I'm not alone.

They might as well just go all the way to the end of Disc 1 if that's the case. After Nibelheim it's just Rocket Town -> Gold Saucer -> Temple of the Ancients -> City of the Ancients. The Sephiroth chase isn't that beefy and Nibelheim just reveals you've been on a goose chase the whole time. Even Temple of the Ancients would make a good stopping point, but really going on to the actual stopping point of Disc 1 wouldn't be that much extra from there. It'd be awkward to have that anywhere but the end of a part.

I guess part 2 will reach Aerith's death, and they will keep teasing City of the Ancients in the trailer. I have a feeling they're going to do some nonsense like at first she survives, but time is rewinded and Cloud has to let Aerith die (e.g The Flash) Zack being alive, fate being defied, seems like their chessy way to give the player false hope with Aerith surviving, unless I'm mistaken.

This is where the contention stems from, and I totally get it -- but there's something about the four-game approach with Aerith dropping midway through the third that just kind of speaks to me. The third game going from Mount Nibel to the Whirlwind Maze, with mandatory Wutai stuff in-between, is like. THE DREAM.

The game's tone would change so dramatically at City of the Ancients.

I honestly want Genesis to come back, but I really hope they have him meet up with Sephiroth and remove him from Niblheim so that can still focus on Cloud/Sephiroth/Zack.

Regardless I hope we at least get to Mount Nibel by the end of Part 2.

To be honest that would legitimately suck, hunting at things given people false hope only to rip the rug out from under them is always bullshit

That feels like a lot to fit in though. We'd have to go through the Kalm area with the mines, farm, marsh, Junon which should be pretty big, Correl prison, the Golden Saucer, Nibelheim, probably Wutai, Rocket Town, and then the Temple of Ancients & City of Ancients. That's a lot to fit in one game. And I believe the writers have said they want to visit all the locations from the OG and I'm not even including potential playable Zack sections. That seems like way too much for one part

I could see what you say happening in the game after that though

Okay I hadn't looked into it, but it's freaking amazing that the Cacstar is a actual Cactuar as a weapon.

Between the cat area and Roche's character..I didn't expect it to be this goofy? Like they let themselves have a lot of fun with this dlc.

Interesting. I guess them showing up on part 2 is a possibility.

Do we still not know what changes have been made to the core game? All anyone is taking about is fucking Zack
