So begins a day of continually refreshing the Android app store...

VERY tempted to grab the FF3 pixel remaster too, but I'll wait until I've finished 5. And then every time I look at all the available versions of 1 and 2 I just get sad that none of them are the PSP versions. Those games are far too beautiful to be left behind on legacy hardware 😢

The issue is that there's basically no hard bosses after you get those level 1 characters that actually require leveling them more than a few levels, which you'll still get if you run from 90%+ of battles. You get Rydia at level 1, but you can auto-battle (Attack/Lit/Lit) through the octopus at everyone's base levels. Cecil is "level 1" but has way higher stats and gets a few levels super fast.
The early game doesn't really matter. What they're pointing out is that characters in FFIV don't rejoin the party at fixed levels. They continue to gain XP while not in the party, so with the PR's XP curve everyone rejoins at much higher levels than in any other version, which ends up making the rest of the game much more trivial.

Anxiously waiting for this to drop so I can listen to the updated rendition of Battle on the Big Bridge.

I keep buying these but not playing through them. I just want the music. I may play this one since I've only beaten it one time and that was like 25 years ago.

Not liking some of these new remixes, but it's an issue I've had with all previous pixel remasters. They sound flat, homogeneous and overdone. Sad to say I vastly prefer the original opening scene music, which is more atmospheric and foreboding. Maybe it's just nostalgia.

Dang, really? The music from the PR collection has been the absolute highlight for me. It's a bummer that they're so flat for ya.

oh man, I feel the complete opposite. These remixes have been out of this world awesome. I feel like they've truly managed to capture the spirit of the originals while bringing them up to a modern style and sound

Krile really benefits from the (technically) larger and more detailed sprite. Very likely more significant than the other sprites we've seen so far.

(FF6 will probably beat that, with the sprites all being several pixels taller).

V has been the one I've been waiting for this whole time, the remix of A New World is amazing, which is the best overworld theme to me.
