Hasn't been a thing since the early 2000's. Was a silly rule anyway.A bit offtopic, but whatever hapened to golden (and silver) goals?
Golden goal was axed quickly because it felt hugely anticlimactic. Not sure why silver goal was canceled though. I think ultimately it made teams just more conservative instead of less.A bit offtopic, but whatever hapened to golden (and silver) goals?
What's more climactic than a game winning goal?Golden goal was axed quickly because it felt hugely anticlimactic. Not sure why silver goal was canceled though. I think ultimately it made teams just more conservative instead of less.

True, but I still kinda liked it though. Now with extra time you always have the biggest disadvantage possible when you have to play a couple days later. Never realized it was that long ago though.Golden goal was axed quickly because it felt hugely anticlimactic. Not sure why silver goal was canceled though. I feel like all non-Americans in the world will be cheering for the Dutch, which is fine. The US is used to being disliked outside their own nation and they thrive on it
The last time my heart was pounding this much, we were facing Costa Rica in the quarterfinals of the 2014 WC in a penalty shoot out.

You sadist! :)i'm always disappointed when it doesn't go to PK's i want all extra time games to go to PK's
Not even the very next match...? The very next penalty shootout?
