I was planning to continue grinding Delubrum Reginae for relic, but this thread got me to spend the whole afternoon messing with my UI and macros instead. Getting rid of the tower of job icons in the corner of my screen was something I wanted to do for a long time, so I'm glad to have finally sat down and done it. I used the same setup Xita showed earlier, but instead of making a button to close the job icon hotbar, I just made an individual macro for each gearset that turns it off after switching. I also installed the colored job icon mod Balfour was using.

The hotbars I have setup the same way as my keybinds, the horizontal row of mostly damage spells are 1-6 and Shift+1-6, and then I put oGCDs and "other" skills on E, R, F, G, C, and V, and have them lined up the same way they are on the keyboard. I probably don't even need to do it that way anymore, but it helped me when I first started the game and was learning the muscle memory.

idk, i just move all the shit I don't constantly use off screen because I hate mmo clutter. The ps4 controller is pretty good at swapping between the various bars.

Been like this since the WoW days.

WoW was an extra headache because you had to download custom plates and mods, and there were so many skills you need on screen.

I try to keep it relatively clean, though I'm not sure if I'm happy with the split chatboxes. Might go back to a single one. Took one screen for annotations and one for what it looks like at its busiest (alliance raid).

Yes, I queued for this shitty raid just to get a screenshot.

I disabled a ton. I don't see people's names unless I highlight them, for example. Makes the world feel so much more real.

Man, no quarrel with 16:9 fellas, but non-ultrawide screens are super cramped.

*Hugs ultrawide monitor*

Managing add-one and crazy macros was a separate game in and of itself. I'd spend days fiddling with that stuff, hahaha.

PS4 player. Outside of battle I try to keep it minimal. The crossbar doesn't appear unless I'm holding L2 or R2:

Here's a shot inside of battle. One important thing here is that I have the enemy cast bar at max size in the middle of the screen. I really need this in order to react to boss mechanics or else I just don't notice them ><

How do I set it up on Playstation like the bottom one? Can't find it in settings for the life of me

Which aspect are you referring to?

If you're asking about moving the enemy cast bar to the middle of the screen: Go to the System > HUD Layout > Target Info, then click the gear icon UI Element Settings, then check Display Target Info Independently, this allows you to manipulate the cast bar ("Progress Bar") independently from the HP bar.

If you're asking about making the crossbar only appear while holding the L2/R2 button, then go to System > Character Configuration > Hotbar Settings > Cross, and uncheck "Always display cross hotbar".

If you're asking about having two rows of crossbars, this is something called the WXHB, or "W crossbar". Enable this through System > Character Configuration > Hotbar Settings > Cross, then check "Always display WXHB." The WXHB might be a little confusing to set up at first, so I recommend looking up some YouTube videos about it.

I normally hate ultrawides but I can see it being useful for this game. As of right now it's been a challenge getting the UI where I like for both M/KB and controller use

I hide most of the HUD elements with only the compass shown at all times.

No HP/MP bar (which is useless anyway since you only need it in combat), no exp bar, no money/inventory, not even quest log when I'm not in leveling mode (end-game grind). I also set the cross hotbar to dynamic (hide by default, visible when holding trigger).

I spent a while messing around with it
problem is I'm someone who, once you start tweaking settings like this, it's hard to stop lol

ended up just going back to defaults and adjusting some scaling and stuff here and there and not much else

Yo, why does the UI look so clean? :O
The hotbar macros took hours and many revisions but they helped immensely in making my UI as clean as possible. A lot of centered space helps, everything is spaced in a way that I can quickly see what I want and i try to hide as much as I need too or move it out of the way. The material UI mod also helps a lot to give icons a cleaner look

Okay the mod is what I was looking for... hmm... I might have to install that because it makes it look well... HD haha.

I've been experimenting on how to reduce the clutter on the screen especially during battle to make it less...MMO-like.

Is there a way to reduce the numbers and overall interface noise during a boss fight. I get a lot of that information is useful but I really just want to admire the boss design and animations.

Actually all of that was perfect. Thanks, appreciate you going out of your way to explain thoroughly!

This is 100% what my UI has always looked like. (Okay, it's 98% as it was before, but I moved stuff to condense it and cleaned up somethings.)

I just had abilities with cd's show on a bar in WOW and everything without cd on a bar that was only visible when mouseovered, just because you can have many buttons dont mean you need to have them visible, how I wish xiv had actionbar mods too lol

There should be a way under Character Configuration -> HUD - > HUD to turn off all flying text

Just got a 1440p monitor, so I've still got some of adjusting to do (basically just moved everything to the edges of the screen for now). Some of the macro hotbars posted in here are inspiring though.

I relate to this so much lol. It's weird how messing with my UI for 3 hours would be a sentence the me from a year ago could never comprehend but now it completely makes sense. Those icons do look really clean though, may have to try that mod for myself.

Okay, I think I finally got it how I've always wanted it and the only real barrier for me doing so was spending 5 minutes looking at a wiki to understand how /hotbarcopy works. I took the mess of random mounts and emotes and put them into their own collapsible menus, and I also made 2 buttons with the Forward and Back arrows that switch between HUD Layout 1 and 2 for a Full or Minimal UI. Layout 2 I just turned off everything except the chat, main menu, the macro hotbar, the time of day, and I minimized the job gauge to be as inconspicuous as possible. I installed the texture mod that removes the gear icon from macros, too. Thanks to this thread for finally getting me to implement all the ideas I've had almost since I started playing. Super happy with this now, it's a night and day difference from where I was at yesterday.

Playing it for the story so I like to keep it as clean as possible. In dungeons and trials I obviously have the chat and party information on their default positions (left side of screen), though I have them at 60% size IIRC since I'm a DPS and the game has been pretty easy, so... Don't really have to pay attention to any of that.

My bottom of the screen 90% hotbars work great for BLM but trying out DNC and having to look at procs is terrible. My massacred hud.

nhjAwOj.jpg

Only 71 now so missing like 3 buttons maybe but the spacing is still all messed up because of the hotbars and keys being setup for BLM. Too bad you can't swap hotkeys per hotbar on a per job basis but oh well.

I really need to work on my UI but since I'm playing on both PS5 and PC I don't want to put in the work twice. Is there any way to be able to save a HUD configuration and send it to the other platform?

I just started playing and I'm using the default HUD layout, is there actually anything functionally wrong with it or do people adjust their HUD to personalize it just cause?

Genuinely surprised to see the amount of people who play with controllers. Gonna have to check out how it feels for myself

Most of if it is personal preference, but there are some adjustments that seem to be staples in most HUD configs, such as: enlarging target's progress bar, removing hotbar slots without icons, putting important skills in the middle of the screen to know when they're off cooldown, adjusting sizes, etc

Yeah, on the character selection screen, before you enter the world, you can upload and download the character and UI settings.

I don't have a screenshot, but it should be in the top right corner.

Wrong no, but I guess there are more efficient or just personally more enjoyable layouts you can make. At the very least I don't think some of the default elements need to be as big as they are.

How come your game looks like it has better lightning? A shader of sorts?
Yeah, I use reshade. Magic HDR does most of the job, in addition to few other effects.

So do you just like guess when stuff's off cooldown or?
Not quite. I use the "hold to show crossbars" option, so they're only shown when I hold L2 or R2 or the other combinations. I also don't need health/mp bars since they'll automatically show up when you're hurt in combat.
