Octopath Traveler 2! The first was my favourite game of 2018 and it's a raw diamond. I can't wait for the sequel that will take critisism into consideration and become an even better experience.

Yes! Octopath 2 have the potential to be amazing. I love the open world, non-linear feel of the original. Also, the graphics, music and combat system were all top-notch. I just hope for a better overarching story for the next game.

Other than that, I'm really intrigued by the Gothic Remake. The playable teaser actually got me pretty hyped.

Expansion and/or sequel for Disco Elysium. No announcement yet, nor official confirmation. Just something Kurvitz said they want to do. I'm waiting.

Top tier in anticipation:
- Elden Ring
- Persona 6

Everything else:
- FF7 part 2
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Fable
- Yakuza 7
- Fallout 5
- New single player Elder Scrolls
- Dragon Age 4
- Bloodlines 2
- Nier sequel
- Whatever Obsidian wants to do

Elden Ring is far and away the most intriguing to me, since it (hopefully)marries two of my favorite things in gaming: immersive open world exploration and Soulsborne gameplay.

There's quite a few I'm interested in... Baldur's Gate 3, Bloodlines 2, and the new Pathfinder are my immediate first picks though. I'd really like to play those. I have quite a large CRPG backlog at least, so I have plenty to play for now.

For JRPG, I am very interested in Yakuza 7. I'm also in there day one for the usual Atlus stuff like SMTV and EO whenever we actually see those. Moon looks really cool too. I'm keeping an eye on Bravely Default 2 as well, but I didn't exactly love the first or Octopath so I'm gonna wait and see on that.

So lots to look forward to as always.

I'd like to be excited for SMTV but it may as well not exist at the moment.

Yakuza 7 feels like the big shake up the series finally was able to get, so I'm all in. After seven games of that basic brawling I'm all in on a turn based combat system with a new hero.

Moon Remix looks weird and I want it.

Lastly NieR Replicant because NieR is one of my all time favourites.

Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur's Gate 3, Starfield, Dragon Age 4, and Elden Ring are probably my top five most hyped RPGs right now.

Starfield in particular I'm itching to learn more about because there's a distinct lack of Sci-Fi RPGs in the AAA space.

I absolutely devoured DA:I last year and loved it—cannot wait does DA4

I loved Bravely Default/Second so I'm excited for Default 2! Also whenever Octopath gets a sequel, I'm ready to jump on that.

Final Fantasy XVI by Yoshida's division is definitely on the top of my list by a country mile. XIV is one of the top-most definitive gaming experiences I've ever had, so I have insanely high hopes for this.

Persona 6, comes in second, although I get the feeling it'll be a damn long time until we see it. As I play Royal now though, I'm actually curious to see if they will continue a new spinoff line under P5, like with Scramble, there has been hints of this.

Granblue Relink because as a long time player I really would love to see the game get an AAA experience, and every footage out of it has looked great.

Elden Rings as From's most ambitious title to date, it's going to be a stunner.

Moon and Cyberpunk here. Hoping they both make it out by the end of the year.

I'll get excited about stuff like Elden Ring once we actually see what it is.

My most anticipated RPGs (with expected release timeframes and some comments):
  1. Cyberpunk 2077 (Nov 19, 2020). No comments really needed, but still I want to note that I loved to death every single CDPR game since the first Witcher, so I have really high expectations for this game.
  2. Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous (summer 2021). I loved Pathfinder: Kingmaker, it's my favourite CRPG Renaissance game, so I can't wait for the second Pathfinder game from Owlcats.
  3. ATOM RPG Trudograd (Q4 2020 for the full release, already out in Early Access). The original ATOM RPG is awesome, a true homage to Fallout 1&2, and set in a fresh location (post-apocalyptic USSR). Can't wait for the sequel.
  4. Encased (Q3 2020 for the full release, already out in Early Access). Another Fallout 1&2 homage, early access reviews are mostly glowing, so can't wait for the full release.
  5. Colony Ship (fall 2021). The Age of Decadence was really good, so naturally I can't wait for Iron Tower's next game.
  6. Baldur's Gate 3 (TBA, probably late 2021 for the full release?). I'm cautiously optimistic towards BG3. The shoes of BG2 are some damn big shoes to fill, and while I rather liked Divinity: OS2, I'm still not completely sure whether Larian is up to the task to make a great Baldur's Gate game. Still, I'll certainly play BG3 once it's released in full.
  7. Solasta: Crown of the Magister (TBA). A D&D 5E turn-based CRPG (similar to BG3 in that). Looks promising.
  8. Black Book (Q1 2021, prologue already available on Steam for free). Very cool looking RPG-adventure based on Slavic mythology.
  9. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 (2020). Another game having some damn big shoes to fill. The original VtMB was phenomenal, and I'm cautiously optimistic about the sequel.
  10. Gamedec (2020). Cyberpunk CRPG, looks promising.
  11. Weird West (TBA). I'll definitely try out Raf Colantonio&co's return to the RPG genre. The setting certainly looks interesting.
Some other upcoming RPGs which I'm keeping on my radar (but need more information in order to decide whether I'll play them):
  1. Revolution: The Spark (Q3 2020). Interesting premise, RPG taking place during a revolution in a steampunk world.
  2. Fabled Lands (early 2021). Looks somewhat promising, but too little is known yet.
  3. Shadow of the Road (2022). Very interesting premise: a turn-based CRPG set in steampunk Japan. It's ways off, though.
  4. The Way of Wrath (2020). Turn-based CRPG set in a shamanistic tribal world.
  5. Alaloth - Champions of The Four Kingdoms (2020). Isometric narrative-focused fantasy action-RPG.
  6. Dark Envoy (2020). Turn-based CRPG with a narrative focus, touted to be co-written by an Amazon Top 100 Science Fiction / Fantasy writer (Michael Chatfield).
  7. Vagrus - The Riven Realms (2021, early access starts on Jul 22, 2020). Turn-based CRPG set in a post-apocalyptic fantasy world.
  8. Realms Beyond (2020). Turn-based fantasy CRPG with a ruleset evolved from D&D.
  9. The Waylanders (early 2021, already out in Early Access). Seemingly Dragon Age: Origins - style game, with some ex-Bioware and ex-Obsidian devs involved; the story involves time travel and celtic mythology. Early Access has been met with mixed response so far, but I'm hopeful for the full release being better.
Out of the unannounced ones my most anticipated game is Kingdom Come 2, as Kingdom Come: Deliverance was really great.

All-in-all, even if only a small fraction of these games ends up being great, the coming couple of years seem to be very good for WRPG fans.

Baldur's gate 3 of course, although I would have prefered they didn't modify the dnd 5.0 rules. I would have liked a pure implementation like Solasta and Temple of Elemental Evil

Dragon Age Inquisition never grabbed for some reason, I felt I was too bogged down the combat in that game. I really wanted to like the game, especially since it got might praise, always been a game I've tried to get a grasp of but failed but I'll wholeheartedly support those people who want the DA:4 to be refined version of DA:I

Iron Tower Studio's follow-up to The Age of Decadence, Colony Ship.

Pretty optimistic about Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

Hoping to get some friends into Baldur's Gate 3 with me.

I have no clue where the story will go tbh so its hard to guess.
I was just throwing my hat in the ring. obviously even I had no fucking clue what Yoko Taro is gonna come up with for the next NieR but the only thing I want is a bop ass soundtrack. give me that and I'll be happy.

since I'm excited for it and it's also pretty much an RPG at this point, I'll add AC: Valhalla too

ok one more, I know there has been no rumors regarding this and there is no much hope for it coming but I never got to play Skies of Arcadia and those who have played have only good things to say, so SEGA if you're listing, I'm willing to play a reboot or remaster of the games if you'll give it to us.

Most of the mentions in this thread would be on top of my list. But I'll go with one of the KS indies that recently caught my eye:

The spritework looks beautiful, the gameplay systems look interesting and the legendary Yasunori Mitsuda is going to be composing the soundtrack for this game.

Suikoden 6, don't worry guys i'm willing it to existence.

we can start a prayer circle in front of Konami, quick gimme their dev studio address. actually they could just licence the IP to some caring dev to make it and I'll be happy too. hasn't there been some indication that Murayama-san is teasing something Suikoden. don't quote me on it tho plz.

Metal Max Xeno Reborn - I hope the enhanced remake version they're doing here will flesh out the game so more people will give it a go.

Edge Of Eternity - Indie JRPG with promise.

CyberConnect's got that four small game thing going on, which seems more promising to me than their full-sized titles (as they feel padded). The one that's most interesting to me is Fuga:

Playground's Fable since I want to see what their fresh perspective on the RPG genre ends up being
Obsidian's AAA RPG since I love Obsidian and now they finally have time and funding to fully realize their idea
Baldur's Gate 3 since Larian are fantastic and a super faithful recreation of the D&D mechanics is fascinating
