I wonder what's the overlap between people that laugh at folks getting burnt by gacha games and those that complain about lootboxes

This stuff can be dangerous

Who knows but that's not really important. Someone asked upthread what the guy looked like, and the answer is probably he looked normal like the married guy with wife and kids.

That's what I'm saying though. Both systems can take advantage of people, ANY kind of people, yet one is demonized while the other one is a joke.

I thought this was gonna be some crazy fan who really wanted male viera.

Way more understandable now I see it's a gacha related incident.

tbh I can't believe anyone even spends money on Brave Exvius. I feel like the game is generous as fuck for a F2P game and the bundles that require real money are such an obvious rip-off that no one would even consider touching them.

I can't believe someone use "wash your neck", you only see that shit in period drama.
What does this even mean tbh? Sorry I'm too lazy to Google :p

Threats are such a problem that some game companies list no/fake addresses or just PO boxes so no one can show up at their office. Some others will have armed security posted all over the place. I've heard of one company that does both.

It would be ironic that he got every other single item in this lootbox game but not the one he wanted... and its uncommon...

It's an old school way of saying prepare yourself for your beheading, "Clean your neck because it's going to be used by my sword".

You know, back when people still commit seppuku and needed a second man to cut their head off when the pain gets too much to bear.

Scary to think people in a nursing industry would do something as sinister as death threats.

Some(obviously super rare) have killed their patients believing it to be mercy killings. Or the crazy German nurse who killed dozens because he liked the rush of trying to revive patients(after giving them a drug to cause heart failure). Dangerous people everywhere unfortunately.

I actually used to live accross the road from a well known and huge developer and remember the armed security staff all over the place.

Any idea how gaming companies deal with this kind of stuff when their employees work from home? I work from home at a gaming company and have received death threats in the past. Basically it involves me calling the police and the police saying there's not much they can do b/c it's always someone calling from an unlisted number.

Even take the precautions of changing my phone number every year and not listing it anywhere and still people find me or send emails etc. from email domains signed up from a personal house proxy etc.

Shit I hope security on this kind of stuff gets better in the future. Really sucks having to deal with this stuff, especially when you work from home.

Man, I'll never understand people who do this (spend 1800 on gacha). I play gacha/f2p all the time myself and I don't think there's a single game on which I've spent more than $30 tops.

They just need a weak moment like family issues, depression etc. That's when people often break and do wild stuff. These questionable apps can be with you at all times. Many opportuities to ruin you life.

His parents should send him a death threat already..
Yesterday was a documentary on teleevision about a Japanese girl who's mother threatened her with a kitchen knife if she didn't get a hold of herself and apply for the public university and not a private music school.
It ended well though.

There are better ways to tell Square Enix their games are trash these days than death threats. Just posting your experience on Social Media will usually do the trick, and have much better results

Everybody falling over the fact that the dude sent a death threat, which is bad, sure and should be taken seriously. Dude probably wasn't in the best state of mind when he sent it.

I think the bigger focus of this story should be being able to spend $1800, and still not being able to get the item he wanted. Legality aside, that's just scummy shit and these games are designed exactly to create this kind of behavior in those that are susceptible to it. Games like this should have a spending limit of some sorts implemented and should be heavily regulated. The gaming industry is skirting the law and they know damn well that they are. The sooner this is globally classified as gambling the better.

Gacha was a mistake.
Spending $1,800 worth on gacha rolls. Goddamn.

Also, real charming that they worked in the nursing industry with that attitude.

Just curious, does this kind of stuff happen at casinos, too?
I remember one time I saw a guy snap at a croupier at a poker table. He dealt him a flush but then the house opened with a full house. While there were no death threats, the guy went to the other side of the table and started yelling at the croupier and security had to take him out of the casino.

This is from someone who has gone to casinos on counted occasions. Pretty sure there are far worse stories than these.

I mean, that's gambling. You shoud know that you basically could spend 10,000 bucks and still won't get the item you want. That's the perversion of this system. Simply don't support it, don't send death threats. Especially nowadays I'd take them very seriously.

Good, he's an asshole for sending a death threat, and in an ideal world anyone sending a death threat should face legal consequences

That said, any game that lets you spend almost 2 grand on it without guaranteeing you everything, needs to be regulated to hell and back, or moved into a casino
