FF5 is consider the best Super Famicom FF game in Japan, not 6. So, it's kinda expected to skip these type of polls, along with it missing the five spots in FF polls.

Awesome to see Okami so high up there. Played it in 2017 and genuinely didn't want it to ever end.
Its honestly kinda surprising that Famitsu readers poll are so different every time they do them. This list seems quite different from the ones in 2006 and 2017.

Having played most of the titles, I can say this is an amazing list. I'd just replace BoTW with FFVI :P
You can definitely see some nostalgia at play with some of the picks, like Gen 1 Pokemon and KH1 making it in over their better later respective entries.
Biggest surprise entrant for me is Dragon Quest V making it in over III or VII. I could've sworn that VII in particular was the most popular entrant in that franchise over there.

No Street Fighter or any fighting games is surprising. Was Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G the game that made the series/genre really blow up?
It helps to remember that these people are probably (fucking) nerds.
Is it just me, or are these Vainglory character designs just lukewarm retreads of LoL characters, with only a couple of standouts like Malene and Phinn?
I imagine the portability aspect and MASSIVE amount of content plays a huge part in blowing up the series in Japan.
Also interestingly enough it was the first game in the series to be well received in the west (81 MC, with the vanilla version only 72 MC).
Do it you won't regret it.
Keep in mind it has already been on sale before.

The FF games with Nomura's art style are far and away the best sellers of the franchise, IX and XII will be at a massive disadvantage in a popularity poll like this.
People like to make jokes about Nomura's belts and zippers, but Nomura's art and Square Enix are so tied together that whenever they deviate from that art style it turns alot of players off.

Vainglory is the odd one out here, never heard of it and had to google it... even when it comes to Smartphone games I'd expect Granblue Fantasy, Fate Grand Order, or Puzzle and Dragons over that.
Anyways, quite a few would be on my top 20 - namely CT, DQ5, Suikoden 2, and Xenogears. And Nier Automata was my favorite game from 2017.
