I don't recall Tactics being given a warm reception in my circles upon its release for not being a "true" Fallout game, funny how times change I guess.

In fairness you're not wrong. Tactics is more of a Jagged Alliance clone with the Fallout lore added to it and it wasn't the same team as Fallout 1 or 2 (14 Degrees East was the Tactics team I think?).

But hey, 2 out of 3...and for some people...Tactics may just be a better game in hindsight after the last few years.

Fantastic games and a nice gesture, and maybe more people will check out Tactics, but I can't imagine these having much appeal or value to most of the Fallout 76 playerbase.

The biggest thing I want them to fix is the frame time issue which causes the game to freeze very often, it's the main reason I put the game down.

So it's even more obvious how poor their games are? Damn interesting take...

Nice gesture, but what are console players supposed to do with these? And I imagine not many FO76 players care about these games.
I have no intention on playing 76 but I might just buy it for the free games.
In case this is not a joke, you can get them for like $2 each on GOG or Steam.

I think the group of people who like to play 76 and the simplified Beth FO games do not intersect with the group of people that like to play the classic games :/. Could at least given FO4 or FO3, why is Beth so cheap....

I wonder how much those games are worth in atoms and what they are worth compared to an $18 skin for FO76.

Console only players don't get console versions of these games? they're getting PC versions?

Bethesda basically telling console players to "brb use imagination".

If you're such a fan you've played 76, you probably have those. Missed opportunity to give TEW2/Wolf2 to get new fans for those middling franchises.

I don't imagine any Bethesda Fallout fans enjoying real Fallouts from Black Isle, unless they're old fans.

This franchise should be with developers that would respect its legacy, like Larian.

If you have only ever played on consoles, you should check out Fallout 2. It's a true classic that will run on anything. Then you can cry with the rest of us about Bethesda's poor attempts at making a Fallout game.

... I mean, if you have any kind of PC from within the past 20 years, you can play FO1, 2 and Tactics on it.

I have to imagine most people playing FO76 probably have already played either Fallout3 or 4 or New Vegas. But sure, they could have given out New Vegas to console players if they wanted them to enjoy a good Fallout game.

This is apologizing in the minimum way possible, as many other publishers have done before. But given how absolutely horribly Bethesda has handled this situation for weeks on end, this is honestly a major success. Lol.

I got those games for free from GOG a hundred years ago. Hated them, just work on making 76 better for me.

Are these games compatible with W10? Because if so, that's just embarrassing.

F3 isn't even compatible and that was the first Fallout B Softworks made themselves.

Does this include BETA players? Because that tweet does not differentiate between the two and the BETA does carry over to the full game I believe.

Have some good proper Fallout games instead of this generic open world shooter shit.

What's the age of a Bethesda fan?
Average is probably twenties due to Skyrim's release being in 2011.
BTW anyone wanting to replay Fallout 2 should look at the full conversion Mod "Resurrection"
how come ? What's special about it?

Don't sleep on Tactics, I loved that game back in the day and it's still great. Granted it isn't a roleplaying game, but it is a fine tactical game in the pre-Bethesda Fallout setting. Taking guys into combat scenarios and building their S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats and perks is tons of fun. Looking at it again, it is probably more of a roleplaying game than Fallout 4 and that new abomination. You start as scrawny recruits and by the end you'll be decked out in power armor, wielding energy weapons etc.

That is nice but I bet most of those people already own those games from steam sales over the years, also they bought 76 to you know PLAY 76.

This is like a "ow crap, here are some good games to distract you for now,. ok bye".

If they wanted to actually look good while still not doing anything they would've given 3 4 and New Vegas as well. The chance that someone is playing 76 without having all of those already is extremely low anyways.

I guess it fits the theme of them giving away pithy consolation prizes for people who were unfortunate enough to buy Fallout 76. Wasn't it like 2 dollars worth of microtransaction currency last time?
