So is this game worth it on the PS4 and how are the controls. Will it receive the same support in the long run as the PC version? Deciding whether to pick this up at some point for PS4 or PC. I'm wondering if I might be more likely to find bugs in the PC version as my PC may introduce issues whereas with a PS4 everyone experiences the same bugs.

You just made post #1000 in this thread. The universe is telling you to buy this game. I never thought I would live to see an ELEX thread get 1000 posts on this forum. I think Reset Era may have peaked. It's all downhill from here.

The game is surprisingly bug free to be fair, at least on PC. No idea about the PS4 version.

I don't know what to do with the first cleric quest.
called "high tech allies", I'm supposed to find out who is selling chems. I accused a guy to Reinhold, he said thanks I'll look into it. Now when I try to tall to him he just says some generic phrase. He is the only thing marked on the map in the high tech allies quest, and the quest still says I need to find the chem dealers. What am I supposed to do now?

Did you also talk to a Cleric named Deitrich? There should be a Cleric outpost south west (I think?) of Ignadan that he gives you a search warrant to investigate.

Played through on the ps4, didn't come across any major issues. I clocked probably around 50 hours in total, really great game! The most annoying thing is that you'll start to see the frame rate slow after a few hours of constant play, I'm not sure if this was fixed in the latest patch. Closing the program and reloading it fixes the issue but it always happens.

Lol at people talking about Pro enhancements. The game barely received one patch since release and the developer has been quiet ever since despite the game desperately needing a patch to fix major balance and game issues. I wouldn't hold my breath for any enhancements any time soon.

PB have confirmed they will release another patch "soon", link is on the last page.
Remember that they released their final patch for Risen 3 half a year after launch, which added a whole new difficulty and fixed some balance issues.
They are a small studio and it's better they test their patches thoroughly instead of adding new bugs and problems.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an old school fan of their games, just really not impressed by their lack of communication and the glaring issues they shipped the game with:
- Sluggish movement controls
- Disappointing combat system yet again, no new attacks or improved attack animations as you get more skilled similar to Gothic 2
- Locked keyboard keys that can't be re-assigned without AutoHotKey
- Horrible horrible horrible console UI, even worse than Risen 2 and 3
- No clear explanations for skills and stats
- No numerical values for health, stamina, mana, armor or anything really <---- This one kills me
- Strange loot and enemy placement that makes no sense in terms of risk reward

I think they probably rushed the game out the door because they were under a deadline, it's just a shame that they aren't supporting the game with constant small patches because the game has a lot of potential if they actually fix all the above issues. The fact that they are a small studio makes it even more important that they are constantly in communication with their dedicated fan base.

I haven't played it yet but it seems PB kept the jumping camera weirdness to this day starting from Gothic 3, IIRC. I'm talking about when you jump down from a surface the camera stays still for a little bit (looking like it zoomed out, not immediately following the player) while the player kind of just weirdly floats in the air till you hit the ground.

And of course after describing that perfectly I found a video showing it instead. It starts at 11:00 mark if the embed doesn't start there.

I think it adds sense of height. Or at least that's the goal they are going for.

I have a huge fear of heights, so even that drop made me queasy. The effect really gives weight to falling, in my opinion. Doesn't Assassin's Creed have something similar?

I think it's just a janky thing in their Gothic 3 engine which is the base engine for all their games since then. The same floaty thing happens in Risen 1, 2 and 3 also.

i'm usually very forgiving with eurojank titles that have high difficulty due to balancing. But I couldn't with this game. I think Technomancer is a gem in the rough. This game though, it's TOO rough.

I enjoyed the 3 Risen games but they managed to suck the fun out of the formula somehow with this game.

This seems really low budget, when I started it up I felt instant regret. But there's something charming about it that I'm looking forward to playing again.

Just got this game and technomancer... wanted some of this pb, spiders jank rpgs... i dont know why, but these games are pretty endearing... they are super not polished but oddly fun. Spiders makes similarly low budget games too, but i enjoy them.

Cant wait to get into Elex... (technomancer was 9.99 on Psn recently so i had to get it!)

Completed the main quest few days ago on the PS4. Have to say I enjoyed most of it however, towards the mid way point, it got ridiculously easy because I stumbled on a plasma rifle (redeemer). I basically only did the main quests after but I got my fill of it with 40+ hours.

For what its worth, the world is interesting and at times immersive - loved the variety of environments and the people, the lore, factions etc. Combat starts of clunky and I understand this is quite common with piranha byte games (although this was my first one) but I held on for a while until I started getting getting the upper hand in combat by carefully exploring and seeing what weapons I could find/buy. It felt rewarding being able to re-visit areas where I had to run previously but now with a fighting chance. I think this is where the game stood out for me as to how dangerous its world can be.

Yes this isn't a AAA quality polished game. Some areas look janky it terms of graphics and design, A lot of character models are re-used and some of the voice acting can be hit and miss at times.

Its definitely sparked my interest in piranha byte games and next I think i'll be checking out gothic 2.

BTW this game crashed my PS4 hdd, before the patch :(

Magic is kind of broken, whole game seems imbalanced and the combat system isn't THAT fun. I don't think it qualifies as one of the best RPGs this year, although it's not particularly bad; it's fun.

Wonder if this Steam patch will be the one that comes with X enhancements when it hits the Xbox. It's X patch is now 'Coming Soon' which usually means within a few weeks.

I haven't quite finished this yet but I am right near the end. Easily in my top 5 of the year. It has some issues for sure, the most troublesome for me is that I really didn't mind the combat until I got strong. When I could kind of kill everything in a handful of swings it really showed how kinda shallow the combat could be, rather than it being actually challenging. Saying that, I absolutely loved the game. Maybe I was lucky, but I really didn't encounter many bugs at all.

I mostly ran into the 'weapon firing modes' not displaying that I saw from the list.

So much for new players getting to be OP with the flamethrower :D. Oh well.

The game definitely has the usual PB feeling of being an utter pushover at the beginning and a demigod that steamrolls everything by the end of the game.

In that sense, I'd agree it's somehow "unbalanced".

Other than that, bar the previously broken "flamethrower", the combat while a bit "meh" was actually decently balanced in my opinion. Ranged weapons could use some tweaks early game but everything feels pretty much right at the default settings.

Good thing the recent patch includes adjustable difficulty settings then. I get what you mean by broken magic though. I could not really get into the Risen games after Gothic. The similarity to the predecessors really made the flaws more obvious.
Can you adjust difficulty on the fly or are you locked in after you start the game?

I need these kinds of games to be challenging all the way through.

So much so that I just stealth-fixed the grammar in the title.
