What is Element: Space?

Element: Space features a battle system full of deep strategy:
  • Engage in turn-based combat and real-time exploration.
  • Approach complex, team-based tactics by combining character skills with free-form movement.
  • Outfit your squad from a selection of 32 melee and ranged weapons that allow for different play styles and strategies.
  • Unlock perks and weapons by gaining reputation with the galaxy's factions.
  • Grow your characters through their unique branching upgrade trees – no two characters are the same!
  • Battle against a wide range of enemy units and squads.
  • Factions' combat perks combine with their specialist units to challenge the player in different ways throughout the game.

The single-player campaign offers:
  • A fully-realized universe with a detailed and extensive history.
  • Seven explorable factions, each inspired by distinct cultures and traditions, offering their own units, tactics, architectures and perspectives.
  • Eight possible companions, each with their own extensive backstory and narrative arc. Help them achieve their personal goals in order to upgrade their skills and maximize their potential in battle.
  • 24 handcrafted levels, each designed to provide unique combat experiences. No procedural content.
  • A nuanced ideological system that tracks your decisions and actions throughout the game, affecting your reputation with factions, your character roster, and more.
  • Multiple endings – from your reputation with different factions to your relationship with your party, every decision you make will shape the destiny of the galaxy.
  • High replayability. Each playthrough will allow you to see new missions, party-members, and storylines. The wide range of equipment, skills, perks, and companions permits for very different playstyles game to game.
  • Extinction Mode: Hardcore mode for those looking for an extra challenge.
  • 12 to 15 hours of playtime per playthrough.
  • Humor in the style of the action-adventure sci-fi movies you loved in the 80's and 90's.

OP, why do you personally care about this? Where did you find out? Why should we click? Without that it sounds like a PR sheet

I found it on Discord.

I simply like to support potential indie devs who make games that are geared toward me. If this one is successful, they'll make a new game, better and bigger in scope.

Oh no!

Someone posting about a new game on a gaming enthusiast forum!

Why y'all so lame?

Thanks OP, game looks cool. Gonna put it on my radar. Been trying to get into more strategy games

The headline of this thread is one hell of an elevator pitch, as bold as it is.

Definitely keeping an eye on this! If they can make good on what that feature list is (although not clear why shade was thrown at procedural content?), it seems promising.

Why are you telling us about this game? It sounds like you're trying to tell us about a game on a video game forum? Seems suspect.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I like the vibe though that trailer is very combat-heavy. Still, I really like the 24 crafted levels bullet point to go with the sci-fi companion/turn based play.

I've had an eye on this for a while.

Don't really know enough to have much of an impression yet.

This is very much my jam... I'll keep an eye on it for now, but I'll wait for full release before buying.

Seems like the price will be adjusted for full release. A normal procedure for early access games.
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
"We want to thank all the people who are going to support us at the early state of the game, so the price for the Early Access version will be cheaper than for the full version. Additionally, the price for the full version will be different since it has more content to offer."

Sounds cool, but no controller support kills it for me
Yeah, it's a huge bummer. I'd be busy with Anthem anyway, so I can wait until it's implemented. But even if it won't, I'll still get it later.

Sounds interesting at least. Hopefully it turns out well.

This pitch sounds familiar. I feel like i have heard about this game before. I wonder if this is the game developed by that team in I want to say somewhere in South America or Portugal?

Edit: Yep Argentina. I knew it all sounded familiar. Nice to see it is coming out soon. I remember reading about this game a few years ago.

Yeaaah.

Thread title sounds like my perfect game.

Actual gameplay looks like... something else.

The trailer has so many whipcrack-fast edits that it made my head spin. There might be a great game in there but the trailer doesn't help me as a player develop a decent impression from the footage since it's so choppy.

No aliens, no sale!

Seriously though, it looks interesting, and Mass Effect + Xcom is something I've wanted for ages. But I'm weary of early access, so I'll probably wait it out.

The title is about as uninspired as it gets, but the actual game looks really cool. Mass Effect meets XCOM is pretty much y dream game so I'll keep my eye on this. Not much of a PC player so I'll probably keep my fingers crossed for a console release. Or at least controller support if it stays exclusive to PC.

All I need to hear is space and Xcom...that's enough for me. Having real time exploration like mutant year zero is just icing on the cake. Every game in this genre needs this.

I can't fathom why this game requires 8GB of RAM. It seems devs just keep inflating minimum specs for the heck of it.

Sounds cool, are there explorable hubs and stuff you can explore?
You can explore the mission area, but no hub as far as I can tell. You go from your ship to a planet to start a mission. There are cutscene/dialogue with factions in their planet, but I think they're more restricted.

XCOM2 also needs 8gb of ram, and it was pretty demanding. This game's mission structure is more open than XCOM2, as you can explore within a mission like Mutant Year Zero.

XCOM and Mass Effect makes for a good pitch, but I've watched some gameplay on youtube, and the execution is just... Poor.

Well the thing is, XCOM2 doesn't actually require 8GB. Besides my GPU being so ass I need to run the game at DOS-level resolutions, my little tablet PC plays the game just fine. Which is what I mean by inflating them "just for the heck of it". It's kind of "we just expect you to have this much", or "we couldn't find a PC with less than this to test it on". Very few devs test for low-spec performance nowadays.

Uh I thought this was a full release, but it's early access. My interest has dropped now, even more after I realised there's no controller support. It's just much more convenient to play this kind of game with a controller for me as I can sit back and relax focusing on tactics. Phantom Doctrine and Mutant Year Zero managed to have fine controller support despite being budget games so yea it's doable. Battletech never got it and I was incredibly annoyed by that.

Edit: Oh it seems the 14th Feb launch is for full release indeed.

Well Xcom has tile based RNG levels, and it also has enemy pods that are RNG. If this game has neither then it is bound to require more memory. Plus it also seem to be technically superior in terms of tech, atleast the post processing effects are quite a bit more advanced.

The game has been in early access since November, and Feb 14th is the full release date.

There are some actual playthroughs on Youtube. They're a bit underwhelming. Admittedly, they're about 3 months old so maybe the game has improved quite a bit in that time.

texhnolyze how fucking dare you make a thread about a potencially cool looking videogame in a videogame board, go make the 540th Smash thread or the 432nd RE2 thread or something instead, GOD!

I want to make a joke about Mass Effect meets Xcom is basically Xcom The Bureau but couldn't figure a way to make it funny.
Game looks cool, story driven Xcom sounds interesting.
