Why would EA potentially spend 725 million to revive a dead franchise, they're getting them for their IPs and technology same as Take twoBetween 2K and EA, I'll definitely choose EA. They surely got a spare team or two from the Codies that can work on Burnout right?
that's like asking the difference between bullshit and horseshit
They made a remaster this gen. I think they want it back tbhWhy would EA potentially spend 725 million to revive a dead franchise, they're getting them for their IPs and technology same as Take two
It's always been this way. Video games are srs business for some very privileged people.
kinda hard to be hopeful for sports games like F1 when there's a bidding war between two companies that promote loot box gambling in their sports games
Imagine an Activision owned Rare.
In 2002, would be weird.
2020 Activision Rare would be making a Smash Bros clone with Banjo, Crash, Spyro and Conker IP.
I was gonna make this myself but you beat me to it. Hilarious
But you see, surely every single one of these companies EA bought would have lasted even longer if they hadn't been acquired - companies never want to get acquired for additional financial security, and game companies just never go out of business on their own. After all, it's such a stable business, gaming, one not at all contingent on spikes between years long lulls, and teams are simply never absorbed into larger structures. EA bad.
Could be synergistic if they can move some of the Codemasters games to their engines and technology. I can't comment on valuation though, not sure how well Codemmasters is doing right now.
.
My perception is that both companies are full greedy with mtx in their games, however Take Two games are of better quality (mtx bullshit aside).that's like asking the difference between bullshit and horseshit
Silver lining: Codies' stuff (for as long as they continue to exist under EA, anyway) will be available on EA Play / Xbox Game Pass. That's something, I guess.
This forum loves Game Pass alright, but Codies' games will only make it to game pass via EA Play. The problem being that this means they're owned by EA, and there's not a great track record of purchased studio survival under EA.Yeah, I thought this forum loved game pass. These games will now be on game pass.
Why would you think that the makers of NBA 2K, probably the worst monetized sports game around, would be any better?
EA managed to crash Burnout and burn Need for Speed to the ground, imagine what they're going to do to Dirt et al.
Slightly Mad’s Ian Bell Outraged By EA: “They Tried To F*ck Us Over, There’s No Other Way to Put It”
Slightly Mad Studios’ CEO, Ian Bell, has expressed is outrage over how EA has treated them before creating Project Cars.wccftech.com
Uhhh I wonder how Slightly Mad would feel about this...

At least it won't have mid game advertisment. If the purchase brings Burnout back, I am all for it. T2 has no recent racing game pedigree and is arguably worse when it comes to MTX, advertising in games, ... ."Surprise mechanics" to see if you get decent wheels from a pack.
Literally not. Studios closing down is even worse and some studios like Obsidian now can make bigger and more ambitious games just as they wanted. So not always are consumers loosing something when a studio gets acquired, that's simply false.
I think...
