I bought witch queen from gMg. One week later they had it for an even lower price. I messaged support. They said they would refund it so I can rebuy it. They removed the game from my steam account and I got a message telling me so. I rebought it at the new price and added it back to my steam account. Plays fine. Refund showed up in my bank account a few days later.

Is that not maybe an exception because you were going to buy it again? My experience with (official) key sellers so far has been that once you've seen the key, you can forget about a refund.

Unless times are changing. I've got this preordered on Humble and PS5 and if it runs poorly on PC, I might try to refund and just play on PS5.

The massive stutter being not just specific, but apparently easily reproducible gives me some hope it'll be fixed relatively fast.

Can't watch the ACG video right now, though. Summary?

He's saying that there's more stutter in 1.02 and that they occur no matter what cards or ssd's he uses.

He is experiencing new hitches and stutters. He re-verified his files, uninstalled it, moving the game on different hard drives but it did nothing. It hitches now more than before in his version 1.1 he was testing for review. From 720p to 4K, with different settings, different NVMEs, but it seems persistent. Occured on his 3 different PC setups. Even with his RTX 3080 / 64 GB RAM / i7 @4,9 GHz even dropping down to 1080p it still pops up.

Stuttering and freezing is "considerably worst" and more common in the new patch. He tested on several difference systems with different GPUs/SSD/Resolution/graphic settings and none of it makes any difference.

I assume the patch is not included in the preloaded version, right? If that's the case I'm not updating, unless the game forces me to ( Don't care about online features)

Cohh's stream is definitely full of stuttering while roaming around the open world. Man, what a bummer.

I am about to bite the bullet and just get the PS5 version and see what runs better

Is there going to be a way to not install the crappy day one patch? Seems like they should revoke that patch.

What a mess, after a delay as well. This might go down to Mostly Positive or Mixed on Steam if the performance is as bad as the streamers.

I already changed the application to only update when I launch it, but I'm starting Steam offline when it's near unlock time

Doesn't Steam need to phone home to start unpacking? Just asking because it does happen that preloads sometimes unlock late instead of at the set time that they're supposed to, which I'd think indicates that they're waiting for something on Valve's end to trigger the unpacking process instead of an automatic timer for a certain time.

Don't worry guys. For every video someone picks that shows an issue there's 10 more videos out there of the game running smooth... right?

Sounds like a mess. I already paid €35 for the game and it's added to Steam. I'll see how it fares on my PC tomorrow, but it was always my plan to continue my Horizon Forbidden West playthrough which will take some time. Hopefully they can fix this mess in the meantime.

Apparently the game is already Steam Deck verified, so I'm thinking of trying this game out on my Linux PC as well and seeing how well it works. Wouldn't be the first time Proton works better than Windows especially with the DX12 to Vulkan layer.

It's funny to think about. Bandai Namco made Digital Foundry wait for the patch to review the performance. The didn't know it would have made it worse lmao

So it's not limited to high-end GPUs anymore? I've been on a media blackout and I'm not really willing to watch any of these videos.
I don't think it was ever limited to any GPU's. According to a Brazilian youtuber who tested a whole bunch of GPU's the stutter is mostly a CPU/RAM issue rather than GPU issue. Which is somewhat typical of open world games in my experience.

Just to be clear before someone accuses me of defending the port again, stuttering is common on all CPU's but the issue is seemingly lessened on high end CPU's.
