I think part of it is that it makes me think of Elder Scrolls, and the "ring" reminds me of Lord of the Rings.I actually really like it. Much better than the rumored Great Rune, that's for sure
Idk. I'm sure I'll grow to love it over time.

No, I find the name and the logo super coolI'm excited but ... does anybody else find the name kinda lame? I dunno. It's so generically fantasy sounding.
I'm sure the game will be amazing but if a few days ago somebody leaked the name I wouldn't have believed it.

I agree
Dark Souls
The initial rumor was:
Probably safe to assume the rest is true as well (to some extent, since we don't know how involved GRRM is).
I'm not gonna lie, Dark Souls is kind of a lame name too. But I think it still sounds more original than Elden Ring.

Idk though maybe it's just me and I'm crazy. I will agree the logo is dope though.
This "Other people are doing it so if I don't also post about it I would lose....something" mentality is the worst.
"Look we have this new game!" is not a good things to be excite about :( ?
Your standard is quite high.
I would argue that there's a schedule of everything and info that developers would not want to feed player unready information before the game is solid.
And modern game market wouldn't let a larger game dev survive without the early hype period for each projects.
Something like a debut trailer is always beneficial.
You mean Cory Balrog's reply to him too?
Jason and others sum it up nicely
Hope they also had some trailers ready for the conferences and not just images tease that were on the site, otherwise they just lost all the wind in their sails due to bad website design.
Wasn't this rumored like a month ago, title and all? It's not that shocking.someone's getting fired over this leak
so the official name of great rune is revealed
can't wait for the reveal trailer
And a completely unsurprising one which doesn't tell us any more information than the rumours.well yeah but that was still just a rumour floating around that got reheated when grrm posted on his blog that he's consulting on a game
this is literal proof
Seriously. People are worried about it being open world, but Souls/Bloodborne like combat is self-contained and can be applied to a larger play space.
That leak just points to a cgi trailer then nothing for ages :(
Yeah true, that's something I guess.Probably showing the game off first in private showings, which I think is how most major Miyazaki games were shown.
Bandai Namco leaked the game themselves. Not me. It was already being posted everywhere by the time I posted it.
Yeah that's the one part of the rumours I didn't like the sound of. I was hoping for a completely original mythology and setting coming from Miyazaki and Martin.I believe the rumors but I kind of hope its not Norse.
I'm Norse'd out.

I mean sure, but you haven't seen the game yet. They could/will have a different take on this. It's just weird to me to say a setting decides that much.God of War (and admittedly Marvel, even if its In Name Only) has my Norseometer a bit full I guess.
I'd rather something new like Bloodborne. Or at least something not as explored like say, Egypt.
Does FROM have 2 studios? How did they do Sekiro and this concurrently?
