I agree with 6-7 out of 10 for Shenmue 3, I find it hard to dislike because it's so eccentric, has a really cozy world full of laidback activities but it's very easy to criticise dialogue that sounds like it was lost in translation and the momentum of the story falls flat, especially compared to 2. Still hope they can manage a 4th game. Average Shenmue is better than no Shenmue.I am playing both Shenmue 3 and DS at the same time at the moment, and while I enjoy Shenmue 3 and appreciate that it exists and what it is trying to do, I think a 6 is probably fair. To a fairly large degree I think that is to do with the budget of the project and the fact that it is pretty ambitious for an indy title.
Couldn't disagree more with DS getting the same score, but it seems Edge weren't really willing to give the game much thrift. Edge is a weird one, they low ball some stuff (particularly Rockstar games), but high ball others.
Do you like The Last of Us? A Plague Tale has a very similar structure, so I can't imagine liking one and not the other.. The story isn't as good of course, but its still one of the better narratives of 2019, and the dialogue is very well written and acted. Don't go in expecting this to be your GOTY or anything - it's just a very solid game with some interesting gameplay ideas that I haven't seen before. 8/10 is the score I would give it as well.
In the previous issue.
No, but I expect that given they it featured in a lot of best of the year lists they were conscious that they had missed a biggie. I know that, after seeing this games appear on a few lists, I had been planning to find the edge magazine it was reviewed in and re-read the review as I couldn't remember it - >this explains why!Yeah why is that? Is it common for EDGE to delay the review of certain games?

Yes.
yeah. a game can't become a cult classic unless it has a few 5s and 6s under its belt. and a couple of 3s and 4s.Im really glad DS is getting such middling scores, makes the game stand out more as a true gem, an instant cult classic masterpiece.
It's gonna be the Blade Runner of videogames!Im really glad DS is getting such middling scores, makes the game stand out more as a true gem, an instant cult classic masterpiece.
yeah. it was announced back in march, apparently
Much like Blade Runner, I can completely understand and agree with the reasons someone might not like it or outright hate it. I can only hope that means in 30+ years it will get a sequel that will completely blow the original out of the water. It's gonna be the Blade Runner of videogames!
or maybe not, idk
I don't know, according to brad on the Giant Bomb podcast there were plenty of player-built structures around during the review period.Either that or he found way more structures in his game built by other players, something they didn't have access to prior to release.

They gave it a 6, would look strangeLmao was it that hard for them just to give the Xbox GOTY to Gears 5.
it was #3 last year:I'm having a deja vu here. Didn't they do something similar last year and gave Xbox GOTY to Gamepass? or was it another site that did it.
