Over here in Florida in Seminole County, I'm seeing nonstop Biden/Harris signs. A bunch of signs that have Biden/Harris verbiage and early voting dates as well which I liked.

I maybe saw 2 Clinton signs in 2016 and Trump won the county by like 1%. The ratio from biden to trump signs is like 3-1 right now. Though there is 1 guy with a big obnoxious sign for Trump in his yard.

I wonder if there will be a big ripple effect of people voting for the first time here.

Anecdotally, everyone who voted with me during the 2008 elections have stayed generally active in voting. Is it a case of once you've done it once, it's no longer a headache inducing unknown and so you're more willing to continue? Or are there a large contingency of people who vote once or twice and move on?
Someone who votes once is more likely to vote again than someone who's never voted at all, yeah. It starts a pattern.

I believe I read somewhere if someone votes three times in a row, they're practically guaranteed to make every single election.

What we need to start doing too is internalizing that the midterm elections are just as important as the presidential elections. My fiancee, for example, prided herself on "voting in every single election" she was eligible for - except she didn't vote in 2010 or 2014 at all (she did vote in 2018, and admitted she'll probably never skip another midterm as long as we're together simply because I won't shut up about it). Even the way we talk about politics is heavily framed around the presidential results exclusively, even though many of the midterm years have been extraordinarily consequential (for example, Clinton and Obama's presidencies were completely reshaped by losing majorities in 1994 and 2010 respectively, Clinton by moving to the right to meet the new Republican majority and Obama by being blocked on nearly all of his legislative agenda + appointments e.g. Garland).

It's the same here with Biden signs mostly everywhere, but someone rented out an old gas station and plastered trump signs and flags all over it.

There's less trump people in general, but the ones he has are crazy fanatics who seem to go all out.

Disenfranchising people who all show up for one day at one polling place = EZ

Disenfranchising people who are so stressed about the election they show up or mail in ballots a month early - lots of moving parts.

No one should be naive enough by now to assume that there won't be closures, malfunctions, crowding, and ballot tossing that affects thousands of voters in each state. However, voters turning out in record numbers, as early as possible, makes it far more difficult for the *wink wink, nudge nudge* kind of disenfranchisement that the GOP has grown accustomed to.

Yeah. It's looking more and more likely that the raw numbers will overwhelm cheating attempts. I wouldn't be surprised to see the GOP manage to steal a close state or two, say, Ohio or Iowa. Imagine if they only won Texas by cheating.

Now I'm less worried about Trump, and more worried that they might manage to cheat their way to retaining a 1 vote majority in the Senate. Like, by getting enough votes tossed out on technicalities in South Carolina for Graham to keep his seat.

Yeah this is gonna be a blowout. People are not complacent and are eager to vote. There really is more of us then them and we are showing up in droves. I dont think we will let there be another person like Trump ever again.

Sort of the same when driving from Seminole County to Orange County, but then on occasion you get hilariously sized overcompensating "Trump stop" shit like this.

It has just been growing, too. They recently hid their confederate flag for some reason - I guess the dog whistle on that one got too loud in 2020.

I would hope not, but suckers are quick to forget and their kids are usually suckers too.
But I'm really glad that people are really getting out there this year. I hope people are fired up more than ever.
When he became president, I said that the only silver lining that could come out of this is that it gets his opposition fired up, revitalizes the voting public again after years of apathy, and creates a large pushback in the opposite direction that lasts many years. I hope that's what I'm seeing here!

The signs and almost religious love for your candidates is never not crazy to me as an Australian. You treat these people like gods, it's wild.

The closest here in recent memory was Kevin07 but even then it pales in comparison.

Lol we drive by a similar gathering of idiots every day after work near Altamonte. They have two cops nearby sitting and hiding. We flip them off every time we drive by.

+2 for Biden here in Colorado. Dropped our ballots off at an actual ballot box instead of using the mail. Wanted to do it at the courthouse but there were a bunch of crazy anti-mask protesters there and I had my 5 year-old with me.

You ever drive down Aloma towards downtown Winter Park? A lot of Biden/Harris signs and then there's that one Trump house. So many anti-mask, crazy, crazy conspiracy signs, all handwritten too. I'd hate to be one of their neighbors.

At one point they had a mannequin out with a MAGA shirt on, the normal September afternoon storm knocked it over the next day.

"Remember Trump?" That will help for a LOOOONG time.

America has slowly white washed every other problematic as shit President by the following election cycle and confidence in electoral politics famously stalls after big events like this followed by less than satisfactory results by the opposition party's agenda, at least in the modern context, so I don't see any real reason to be particularly optimistic about that being a card people get to play and it mean anything.

I mean, fuck's sake, Reagan and W. were worse and they to this day are largely not recognized for the truly despicable monsters they were. Even the moderates that lean conservative but have grown tired of Trump's rhetoric will be finding reasons to defend him for "protecting the country's legacies with his courts" or whatever other nonsense.

The americans who treat their candidate with religious love are Trump cult members.

As for other Americans... when you are fighting for people's lives like we are in this election, it's easy to become very passionate.

Wife and I voted in Ohio today. I was pretty surprised to see so many people there. It took us roughly 10 minutes in line. In the time we were there I saw at least 1000 other people.

For context we went to the same place and early voted in 2016 around the same time of day and I saw maybe 30 people excluding workers. In 2018 we voted on election day and were in line about 5 minutes and weren't as many people as today.

People are motivated, for sure. Bad news is I live in a deep red county. 🤔

Most of us feel the same way, I think. The fact that we've moved from signs to flags is incredible though. I can never get into the mindset of a person who wants to proudly display a flag with a politician name on it.

Oh man..... I am actually giddy at the thought of Texas going blue. I literally giggled when I saw that tweet for Harris county. I giggled, a old ass man like me giggling.

I LOVE IT.

Harris County alone's gonna beat out all of Georgia's Day 1 total at this point.

Just to put them both in perspective, Harris County has 112 early voting locations. It took combining the Atlanta metro's 8 largest counties to kind of match Harris county's population. Between those 8 counties, there were all of 78 early voting locations available yesterday. 30 of those were in Fulton, with only Dekalb and Cobb also breaking double digits in locations at 12 and 11 respectively.

There's really only one candidate in recent history that has this though. Obama came kinda close, but Trump is on a whole different level of worship. Republicans are fucking psychopaths
