The complete and utter meltdown when RDR2 gets announced.
Eh, we are all expecting it to happen anyway. I am sure there will be some people upset, but I expect most comments to be something like "well, we all knew it was gonna happen."
So enlighten me why should I "fight" against and throw shit at the Epic Store.
For me, I started to dislike exclusives on EGS when they took Ashen away at the last minute. I was gonna play that on PC through my Game Pass sub (I don't own a Xbox), but at the last second it became an EGS exclusive. Also, when games go exclusive to EGS, the average price for the game goes up. Like you said, there are plenty of launchers, and also plenty of third party key sellers on PC. I can't remember the last time I paid $60 for a game at launch thanks to key sellers. Then there is passing the payment processing fees onto consumers outside of the US, making games even more expensive for those folks.

As it's been stated MULTIPLE times by the PC gaming community, it isn't just another launcher. We all use so many different launchers for our games. But there are issues with EGS, and PC gamers don't want to support it. That's the other thing I don't get. Why do other people care so much that certain PC gamers don't want to support Epic? We all have our reasons on why we spend or don't spend money with certain companies. But now when PC gamers don't wanna support Epic, we're whiny and entitled (not your words, but I've seen that used before).

Yeah a platform with poor security, lacking features run by a company that could give a fuck less about their employees and customers is hilarious.

But we've been over this time and time again.
Don't even bother. These people always show up for new EGS threads acting like they have no idea why it's bad. Not like we've had 200 other threads they could look at.

Way to let all the steam out of this event.

Expecting the addition of an insufferable E3-level "ex-cloooo-sive" voice-over to the start of every trailer.

A fucking PC gaming show will be channelling that early PS3/360 console wars spirit.
What a time to be alive.

I hope the audience isn't vetted. I hope the show is full of boos and crowd discontent.

Fuck Epic for bringing console war bullshit to PC. And fuck PCGamer for hosting them.

Editorial side of PC Gamer has nothing to do with the sales side that would make a sponsorship deal.

Looking forward to seeing their progress and announcements. Maybe more formerly console exclusive games. Very excited to see what they bring. This is their biggest "stage" since launching the EGS.

The show will be fun, since Epic is throwing big money around, I assume their gonna get something big for their conference so I'm lookin forward to it.

I'm cool with the exclusives, really no barriers to use either clients, so it doesn't bother me.

Yep because when you're trying to make a point, childish behaviour is always the best plan.

so... are we now allowed to say that PCGamer doesn't have an neutral stance on the Epic topic?

100% expected. Epic has sponsored tons of articles already and a lot of advertising on their site.

I will not sleep on this show but i really want to watch it the same way i want to watch a really bad movie. Another reason is to laugh at how can people be so full of bs.

Lastly, to feel the change of sentiments when this happens:
"We have a great game for you -shows great game -> hype Yeah!-
...exclusive on EGS. -> hype dead and buried."

EGS topic guidelines

Official Staff Communication

Given the volatility in recent Epic Game Store related threads we have decided that some clearer guidelines are required to cultivate healthier discussion.
  • Do not enter these threads in bad faith. If we conclude that your goal is to misrepresent the concerns of other users or rile people up, you will be moderated. Intent matters here. Honest questions or commentary about the differences and similarities between the Epic Games Store and other storefronts are fine. Deliberately and dismissively attempting to troll concerned members on those topics is not okay. These discussions must be held in good faith and in a civil manner.
  • As a reminder, antagonizing or engaging in personal attacks on other members is still against the rules. We have a large community with a wide range of preferences and personal priorities. Not everyone will feel the same way as you do on any given topic. If you feel a post is breaking a rule please report it and do not respond with hostility. If you choose to engage do so politely. We always check to see which users have a history of trouble in this area.
  • It is perfectly acceptable to want to wait for a game to be released on the storefront of your preference (ex: "I'll just wait for the Steam release.") It is not acceptable to troll threads because of storefront exclusivity timed or otherwise (ex: "So the real PC release is going to be a year later.") The latter is needlessly inflammatory and distracts from discussion. We will be scrutinizing these posts more closely going forward.
  • Do not advocate, defend, or admit to piracy under any circumstances. This is explicitly against our Terms of Service. There are no justifications that will make this acceptable.
Addendum: It's fine and often healthy to be critical of media coverage (ex: "I don't think this article is good and here's why"), but please avoid going down any rabbit holes with excessive vitriol and conspiracy theories (ex: "This outlet is clearly paid off because I don't agree with their coverage"). We've long had a general policy against hyperbolical vilification of the media and that rule has not been suspended.

I've accepted it at this point, hopefully they can throw some of that money at something I care about next.

Get me a Metal Gear collection on PC.

I mean sure they are sponsoring it but should it even be called the PC Gaming Show rather than the Epic Games Store Gaming Show because I can't imagine it being anything else.
I wouldn't have(as much) of a problem with Valve or GOG doing this and calling it a PC Gaming Show because 90% of their content is released on other stores without restrictions.

Would love to be surprised though if this is an unbiased show and not just an advert for EGS.

Yes, how dare consumers express displeasure with aggressive business practices, bringing "console war" bullshit to a previously agnostic platform, and eliminating consumer choice / competition. They should just suck-up to the corporate overlords.
