Dunkey is questionable (as ive learned from ERA), but im also wondering why He and Jim from Jimquisition are just now getting their own OTs, just happened to work out like that, new rules, or?
There's an "ignore thread" feature at the top of the page. If you use that feature he will be as good as banned for you, given that all of his videos will be posted in here rather than each getting their own dedicated thread.
That was entertaining, though I was perfectly fine with some of those box arts no longer being in my memory.

I didn't make any kind of comment regarding that, I'm just telling you how you can remove the thread from your browsing experience.
If content from people like Angry Joe, Destiny, or Skillup aren't allowed on this platform. Then his shouldn't either. Disappointing decision from the mods and admins if that's what they came up with after 2 months.
I half expect a warning for this post, but the staff on this site are really showing their asses with their unwillingness to move on the Dunkey issue. People liking him is not an excuse for the shit he's said. Dude doesn't even have enough of a spine to apologize.
I can see that you're trying to have some kind of argument with me. I'm the guy who told you about the ignore feature. If you want to argue about Dunkey's status on the site, I'd recommend having that argument with a mod via private message instead of with me.
Scott the Woz has a great video on box art and most recently a 40 minute video on game packing and box design in general.
People have been bringing up the problematic stuff Dunkey has said for a long time and the staff doesn't give a shit.
Look, I don't want to be involved past this - They are discussing banning his content from the site due to how Dunkey acts. Not because they do not like him and don't want to see the thread. Resetera bills itself on as a site that condemns the kinds of things dunkey has done. They posted publicly because they are allowed to discuss their content in their thread, and spread awareness on what has been said in the past. Your suggestion of using the ignore feature is a polite way of telling them to shove off posting about it in this thread.
3D Realms seems to be getting a pass for surrounding themselves with Neo Nazis too.
I didn't know about his past conduct until the E3 2020 thread, and objectively it seems like he's met the criteria for being banned when comparing his conduct to that of other YouTubers who have been banned, however, I think relegating his content to an OT which will at some point be moved into Hangouts is a decent enough compromise, as it will mean those who dislike him can easily avoid him and those who like him can discuss his content in peace
He'll probably get less traction on the site in general now anyway as even if you're not ignoring this thread, if it's in Hangouts and not Gaming you'll probably miss seeing the thread title update
I just found his content aggressively unfunny, so seeing examples of him saying some pretty bad things in the past just soured me on him further
Anyway, this wasn't an OT when I first posted, and now it is, so I won't shit up the OT any further

HI friend. I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't put words in my mouth or try to assign unsavory motives to me. I was trying to help someone who I thought didn't want to see this content. I didn't know about the ignore function until someone pointed it out to me, and I thought it might be helpful. Given that a mod has already posted here, and has thus far chosen not to respond to this poster, I thought I might suggest that a private message would be a more appropriate way to get an answer to the question.
Whether your intention, that is ultimately what your action amounts to. If this person wanted to ignore, they would ignore. They could never click in the thread as well. Ignoring is not want they want, they have an ideological concern, not a "this doesn't interest me" concern.

I swear I remember seeing an update from the last dunkey thread about his content no longer being allowed here.

Btw for context Akbar Live was done in 2006 when he was 14. Most of that was him imitating rap music, which isn't the best look, buts all a far cry from like Jon Jafari going on racist tirades in streams. The F word outburst is the only thing that was really bad imo, but not enough to personally stop watching.

Not the only. RedLetterMedia still isn't banned in the Etc thread. Their OT is just buried in community.
Some racists and sexists still fly under the radar here, despite their racism being apparent.

Dunkey dropping slurs, even if in videos from years ago, is clearly not okay.
A big part of the problem with a blanket ban is that it will hide the issue and make sure that nobody talks about it. Right now posters are welcome to raise the matter in discussions about his content, and they do, and this is how people become aware of it. A blanket ban sweeps it under the rug and does nothing to actually address the problem.
The creators we ban are the creators who are still peddling hate and problematic content that we simply don't want to engage with or platform. Dunkey doesn't meet that criteria, but the conversation about his older transgressions is a conversation that should be had.
If there is any concern that the OT will become some kind of safe space for fans where these issues cannot be raised then rest assured that will not be the policy. We ask that members do not attack each other personally and respect these concerns when they are raised. We are prepared to issue bans if folks try to shut down that kind of talk.
I'm sorry, but this is a weakass response. The "banning him would just be sweeping it under the rug" bit in particular is some bull. Just making an OT that will be hidden away in hangouts is sweeping it under the rug because it won't have the consistent voicing of concern regarding the shit he's said because it will just become nothing but Dunkey fans. Regardless of what you say the intent is, this absolutely will become a safe space for Dunkey fans to ignore the problematic things he's said.
Saying "oh, we want people to talk about the things he's said" is bull, you guys know exactly what you're doing.

If we really want people to learn about why certain people are banned, we need a resource for it.
Have a sticky thread that lists the creators that are banned from their content being promoted (unless to discuss major incidents if they are influential) and have information posted under why they have been banned.
Allowing people platforms when they have a history of bigotry and no signs of remorse or attempts to rectify their opinions will not allow discussion. All it will lead to is either a safe space for their fans or it will end up being a soft ban where their fans won't be open about their feelings and we will just have those who do have an issue having to keep coming in and discussing the issues with the odd troll who speaks up in favour.
