As far as I know Codemasters hire most of them and the failed again. So......life is harsh. For all of us.

Overrated like how it has a 71 on metacritic? The game received harsh reviews when it launched for exactly the reasons you outlined... but Evo stuck with it and built it into an amazing game with possibly the best post launch support we've seen this generation, which is why you see the numbers the OP quoted.

And stop shitting all over a dead developer... I'm sure they heard the message loud and clear given they all lost their jobs.

In my ooinion Sony brought usany amazing exclusives, but Driveclub is not one of them. It's just ovverated, because it looks good in 100x100px gifs, thats about it.

But Rushy was disappointed with some Codemasters Formula game, tell us more, how your game did work out better..... Even under Codemasters umbrella, because onRush (no ego involved at all) was pure shit.

And as an owner of an IT company I would be homeless by now acting like an Evolution studios or better, people behind them.

People simply voted with their wallets, I am fairly sure that this brings anger to the #DriveClub circle jerk, but it's just an reality of the situation.

Back on topic, wish Sony woul put back together Evo and continue with DC and especially the MS series.

Not everyone wants the serious sim-like nature of GT Sport. Driveclub is more accessible to variety of gamers. I am holding off until a 4k patch on PS4 or PS5.
Sony is missing out though. There is potential here for a Forza Horizon competitor using GT Sport assets.

I'm mainly into driving games and this was the 3rd racing game I got for the PS4, after NFS: Rivals, and The Crew. I ended up sinking a lot of hours into this game and got the DLC Season Pass, the first and only game I've done so for.

I play a lot of racing games and they live and die based on their handling model. Driveclub's was a lot more sim-y than I expected it to be, but rounding off a lot of hard edges that sims tend to have. It's also a gorgeous game, I probably spent half my playtime in photo mode.

Somewhere I have a bunch of photos I took using photo mode (l'll have to dig them up and post em here)

I think what I'll remember this game the most for, unfortunately, is during election night 2016 I turned off the news and started a 30 lap game and started streaming it to kind of not feel anything.

Sure, let's disregard the post-launch support it had starting from like a month after launch and consistent/constant out to almost two years - because you're not really here to have a real discussion, you have an agenda.

And no I don't concede your second point - "overrated" refers to the game's critical reception, which was deservedly harsh when it launched. Full stop. The game's not overrated, if anything, it's really underrated compared to its state now, because almost none of the reviews were updated to reflect the fixes. That's what its support on boards like old GAF and here indicate: It is underrated.

I like Foza Horizon 4 but it doesn't even come close to Driveclub in terms of car sounds.

It captured the emotion of driving, the feel of racing fast, more than any driving game I've played. The weather effects, the scenery detail, the amount of content, it was such a labor of love for Evo. The car handling was a bit weird, not quite satisfying arcade racing fans and not satisfying sim heads. But it was easy to look past that given what an incredible overall experience it was.

I will never really forgive Shu for closing down Evo (or Liverpool).

What a shame. This game would've deserved a sequel. I'm usually incredibly bad at playing racing and fighting games, so I avoid them alltogether. Driveclub was different though, I even got the platinum trophy and did some drifting #1 worldwide scores on a few tracks & cars just because it was so addicting. It's a perfect mix of casual and sim to me. The graphics, sound and car models are still unmatched to this day.

I don't even mind the catastrophic launch and delays but it seems like Driveclubs development was a troubled and expensive one.

I think I made it to the top 1000 before I stopped. I was obsessed with the driving and points system. It was fun maxing out the points for the cars/tracks and stuff. That and all along with the awesome graphics the game displayed, it never got old to me and I wanted dlc to keep releasing forever even if I had to pay for it.lol

Last racing game I put a considerable time in . That dynamic weather . . . I miss evolution . Played motorstorm series as well. They could have just made the team smaller and let them continue developing new content for drive club. Just didnt make sense to let them go completely

Huh? You now that Driveclub was free on PS+ and was released 3 years before GTS? And why would Sony shut down PD when their games sell so well.

As for DC it's best racing games this gen easily and sadly likely the last AAA circuit based arcade racing game.

DriveClub is the best racing-experience in a videogame I´ve had. I love Burnout Paradise, Forza Horizon or Gran Turismo. Bur DriveClub was just something else man. These racing tracks were so masterfully crafted, racing on them again and again and again and again with ever changing weather effects was and still is sublime.

DriveClub offers the very best tracks in any racing game ever imo. Fight me.

Well, it free, so most players might be a nice achievement, but still...

It looked really great, especially after the weather update, I always hoped for a Pro Update, but as the studio was shuttered some time ago, I don't have any hope in that regard anymore.

Still, would have loved to see a Driveclub 2 and/or new Motorstorm. Sony could use a good racing game that is focused a bit more on the arcade side of things.
