Quick question:

I made a block and embedded a microchip/camera bundle grouped in it, right? The tutorial I'm following then said make it invisible, but I can't seem to select it any more and I can only even see it (occasionally) when selecting the microchip.

How do select or see invisible objects?

have they said this or is it just hope :)

It'd be good now its released to have at least a roadmap or other updates on new features in a monthly update from Mm. Might help keep people engaged, re-engage those that fall off, and bring in new players (eg if VR is exciting for them, or they're waiting on Multiplayer)

located in the view options (eye icon) there are several display options. turn off "preview invisibility" to see your cube again. also helpful is "x-ray" vision which lets you see all your microchips even if they are on hidden objects

Marc and Alex said it on separate occasions. It was originally the other way around but since Alex is handling mp it'll be awhile. Unless we want lbp level of mp.

I searched for them using the website but nothing comes up.
They disabled their profile from bring being able to be seen on indreams.me

Thanks (if a bit mean on poor old Alex :P )

Although this is a fully published game, I wish they'd have a beta stream - at least for any features that don't impact the core users. VR and multiplayer would potentially both work well like that. If I make a VR level or create in VR it shouldn't impact other users. Can even flag beta levels as not visible to other users until the feature goes live.

I'd be happy to feed back to help tune how VR works

This game is so incredible. I showed it to a friend who was blown away by the flecks system, and how you have huge control over the visual appearance of objects. Also how the details hold up as you zoom in. The copyleft spirit of sharing and remixing on the social side is going to lead to very impressive work down the line. I love the idea of making just a solid control/animation concept and others making levels with it.

You can see this on the indreams.me website.

I see the total in the profile. Any idea if that is actual hours spent in the Dreams software (playing and creating), or just number of hours spent playing people's (and your own) created dreams? I only ask because mine says 50 hours...and I feel I've spent at least twice that just creating.

Edit: Eh, I think I've answered my own question. Thinking back, I've spent multiple nights going 5-hours straight creating and tons more with 2 or 3 hour nights. This can't include creation time.

For those still worried about Media Molecules 2 hours campaign, we played Splatty's Adventure for 40 minutes and we barely scratched the surface:

Bought it on a whim.

I have zero artistic ability and game design knowledge.

What could go wrong?
I'm pretty much the same (a writer/creative, but no artistic ability).

Please keep me posted on your experiences with this. I'm very curious about it but have always found in-game tools for building/creating stuff to be cumbersome and ridiculously time consuming.
I know this was ages ago, but I thought I'd give an update on what I've been able to do.

I haven't really had a lot of time to dive deep into Dreams sadly what with moving into a new house and work and new kittens to help look after. However, I did have a go at recreating the cat tree we bought and I put together for them as my first mini-project. It's pretty rough and I could probably make it a lot better if I wanted to put more time into it, but I'm fairly happy with how it turned out.

Unfortunately, I somehow managed to set it as a scene rather than an element. Don't know how I did that, but never mind.

New question for anyone who understands logic better than I.

Couple questions actually.

What is the best way to organise logic that will be re-used (for instance lock on aiming logic for enemies)

Currently in my gun microchip I have a 'look at rotator' aiming at the enemy tag which is triggered by a cone shaped 'trigger zone' stuck to the front of my mech. This means if an enemy is in my cone of visions it will turn on the enemy tag which makes my bullet emitters target the enemy. But this means I have to manually wire up my mechs guns to all the enemies I intend to make. Which doesn't seem very efficient?

Also. When running my mechs head sways in a way I don't like but that can't be fixed with the puppet sliders. So my solution was to scope onto the mech. Make a ball that sits 20 ft in front. Put a tag on that called "front facing" and then putting a look at rotator' on the head of the mech that looks at the front facing ball. Results look great and improve the animation a lot too.

BUT.

When I'm in proximity of an enemy the "look at rotators" are conflicting. My theory was that I could somehow make it so when an enemy tag is seen, it disables the "front facing" tag or the rotator driving it. But I have no idea how to do that? Any help?

I'll try to explain better if that doesn't make sense. Lol

How do I emit to a non fixed position? Like, I have an object that moves in a straight line and I want it to spawn another object when I press X. I can't figure how to get it to spawn anywhere other than where it's placed in edit mode.

I think if you place the emitter inside the group of another then its position will be local to that object, so you can place that object where ever you want it to emit.

You don't need to wire your main puppet up to every single enemy, you just need to make a small adjustment

One of the features of tags is that they know when they are being detected. What I would do is:
  • Have two tags on the enemy, one called "Line of sight", and the other called "Enemy"
  • Wire up the Line of Sight tag with the Enemy tag so that when the Line of sight one is being detected , it powers on the enemy tag.
  • On the mech you want the trigger zone to try and detect the line of sight tag, and the look at rotator try and find the enemy tag.
When I'm in proximity of an enemy the "look at rotators" are conflicting. My theory was that I could somehow make it so when an enemy tag is seen, it disables the "front facing" tag or the rotator driving it. But I have no idea how to do that? Any help?

Using the line of sight/enemy tag setup that I've outlined above, you could have the line-of-sight trigger gadget power off the default look-at rotator when it detects a line of sight tag. Just run a NOT gadget out of the 'Is detected' tweak menu of the trigger gadget that powers the look-at-rotator.

Is the emitter attached to the moving object? Either attach the emitter directly or place it in a chip attached to the object and it should emit from wherever the object is.

If the emitter is grouped with, or snapped to, your object, the emission point will move with that object. Alternatively you can actually feed a position, direction and orientation directly into the emitter for complete control.

To calm myself down after the Super Tuesday results last night I just did a deep dive on creations with both the "Weird" and "Psychedelic" tag. It was exactly what I needed. Also most of the creations in the "Vaporwave" tag are way chill. That plus a hefty pour of Aquavit was exactly what was needed. Love, love Dreams.

I see Patrick Klepek is on board :)

Nothing more to add other than I really do love the Waypoint staff and what they bring to the table. Klepek's deep-diving into a particular search tag is a great way to just discover new and weird stuff. I

This is awesome! I've only made a few things in Dreams but I also drew from something in my real life; for me it was my seven year old nephew's drawings. Great way to find inspiration. You did a great job!
