Stormfront from my last top ten is an interesting experience.

You cycle between different security cameras in a house hearing a news report about an incoming storm and things start to escalate.

Oh yes, Stormfront is an outstanding creation I already noticed a few weeks ago. Will update the thread again shortly, maybe with a year-end review instead of a weekly one though!

I'm working on two videos you might be interested in but neither will be ready until the new year. One will be an overview of some full, finished games made in Dreams and the other is a collection of excellent creations with shockingly few likes, I'll keep you posted

After a little Christmas break for myself after launching Project Enterprise on December 21, I'm back to playing Dreams and updating this thread... with two posts in two days :D

Best of Dreams W/E - 12/20/2020 (Ladylex UK)

Playthrough starts at 17:45 min

Many people released their projects before some expected downtime on Christmas. The week ending 20/12 had some really neat and varied stuff. Heavy MetEvil instantly reminded me of Brutal Legend as it combines stylish combat and artstyle with heavy metal music beats and instrument playing! The Babysitter lets you take over an au-pair job that doesn't quite go to plan, with a psycho stalking you. REVELATION lets you assign the role of a space soldier who investigates the cause of a terrible accident on a planet surface. Casinos de wayra is an absolutely breathtaking walking simulator that for me neatly combines some South American indigenous society-styled architecture with alien-themed scenery. I'd rate A Prisoner's Cinema in a very similair vein in terms of praising its artstyle and lighting. In this game, you have to escape a prison in a beautifully lighted neogothic architecture styled castle environment. If you're in for a chill but very well designed collectable platformer, play My Treasure Hunt: Mario Style (but 'Mario' is just referring to the gameplay here). City Simulator 2 continues the strengths the first game already had. In Last Man, you experience strange happenings in the life of the protagonist after an airplane crash. This week also once more has these fun neat little Dreams that are just a lot of fun: In I Autty Be Careful your only task is to slide down some stairs and not hit the obstac.... dogs! But it's so addictive to try to get the high score. The same creator has also remade his previously popular Martians Cows where you have to simply get as many cows as possible up to your UFO. It's so silly - I love it. There's also more snowball fights in Snow Day to be had, just like last week. If you want to experience a boardgame classic on Dreams, try LOGIK. I also want to specifically mention Bubble Burster just for its AWESOME title screen - genius! You're literally just bursting as many bubbles as possible, but it's quite cool! RED RED RED is a short homage to Super Meat Boy and will hopefully be expanded upon. Quite a lot of Christmas-themed stuff in the collection as well, starting from collecting lost christmas presents in many variants such as in The Guardian Maru, but also including the community-event Dreamers Holiday Village ranging to a very cool interactive Dream named Decorate Your Christmas Tree.
Some great set design in Industrial Sci-Fi City (inspired from Cyberpunk) and neat creativity in place with stuff like Anatomy of an Radio in that particular week as well. And please watch HUG, please do, so cute! I already covered the amazing Cyber Trigger, Santa Dash 2 and Good Dog in my previous post, which Ladylex also featured.

Dreams Best Creations (Ugly Sofa Gaming)

Our friend and fellow ERA user UglySofaGaming again picked his very favorite Dreams of the week again, too. His video features

00:34 Cyber Trigger by Paulo-Lameiras
00:57 Ratchet and Clank: Bullet Heck by Arisu_Mizuki
01:40 Stormfront 2 by dakrrs35 (mentioned above)

02:33 Santa Dash 2 by Aecert
02:54 Party Showdown by arnoldochavez
03:28 Good Dog by RbdJellyFish
03:59 Decorate Your Christmas Tree by Swecca
04:37 Christmas Light Show by Dr_WhoData

Lots of great stuff in here. Some of it has been featured in this thread already. I will specifically point out how amazing Stormfront 2 is once more. Same goes for Party Showdown which everyone who loves Mario Party will have a treat with. The video is timestamped for easy navigation to Dreams you might be the most interested in!

Creation of the Week (crazillo)

For me (and Ladylex), the best creation of the week besides Cyber Trigger was Mechanic Depths. This is a super stylish platformer where the hero, a little Roboter, has to navigate a pretty challenging and well-designed machine cave environment. The Dream especially excels at its precise controls and strong vertical level design and camera work. Check it out!

Best of Dreams W/E - 12/27/2020 (Ladylex UK)

Playthrough starts at 12:00 min

Christmas week was expectedly a bit of a slower one, with many creators already releasing their projects beforehand. Nevertheless, last week had two of my favourite creations of the year released that I will talk about below. Ladylex picked out Project Enterprise D as her pick of the week, which we were stoked about!

STILL is the first of the two creations I want to highlight with greater detail. What seems to start as a short movie later also has quite a lot of interactive elements. The story traces humankind's desire for conquering and exploring space. When a stable wormhole can finally be artificially created late in this century near Saturn, the time has come. However, things don't quite go as planned. The atmosphere, animations and camera work are amazing in this.

What else do we have? Part One might not sound like much, but is actually an interesting set-up to a psychological horror adventure. What starts as a potential purchase of a house quickly turns into something more nightmarish. If you have missed Space Invaders, you should definitely give Space Shooter Game II a try in quest of the newest highscore. Rotate 360s has you try to move a marble ball forward and not to drop it on the edges, quite challenging! In Project Zom-B. you have to escort a partner through a zombie-overrun urban environment - the game has some nice shooting mechanics but is a bit samey to me. Fruit Cake The Christmas Clown mixes christmas greetings wirth some horror and jumpscares. Ralph 'Quick Adventure' is a nice little test of your platforming skills. Don't Rush is a 2D puzzle platformer where your task is to overcome increasingly challenging obstacles.

In non-game stuff, the Steampunk Weapon Showcase is especially noteworthy. If From Software ever runs out of weapon designs, they should look no further but at this creation. Amazing! A reallly well-made Tractor is also featured. A really cool anime-style short film series is continued with Ohniera: The Interloper and the Runestone with Chapter 5 and centers around the use and learning of magic. A superb set design is THE MUSEUM In similair fashion to the Ocean World showcased here before. IP stuff besides Enterprise also has an interesting Fallout 5 demo and a STAR WARS Episode V fangarme.

Creation of the Week (crazillo)

Fetch Quest might sound like a not very intriguing title at first, but is absolutely one of the best creations yet released in Dreams! Clearly inspired from The Legend of Zelda, you follow the protagonist on an epic quest to conquer evil. The game is in a very polished state and features several large environments, puzzle solving, new abilities and gadgets and the classic Zelda-Dungeon formula. Ladylex showcases the game in her video above briefly, but let me tell you... This gets better the further you go!

Is a shame really that there's such a lack of interest in dreams. Sony certainly haven't helped, but there's some amazing stuff.

Thanks for the work you've done in spreading the word on stuff in this thread though, is good to see.

This is sad to see :\ Dreams deserves a more active community.

I was half-expecting to not even get a single reply on this, lol... I can still post the content the regular YouTubers do every week if you like, but I will not describe all the games at length (which is quite some work). Feels like a waste of time if there is no interest. I was hoping this would spark some discussion and cross-posting of what people have enjoyed the most in the last week - but that didn't really happen.

After that extremely vile thread towards Dreams regarding the Kotaku article on here, I have soured quite a bit on how some people in this community view Dreams, sadly.

It's all such a shame because I genuinely believe people are missing out on having a great time as PLAYERS (not creators) in Dreams.

Would you be interested in me to keep posting those weekly Dreams videos even if I scale down the description part?

A quick update instead of in-depth descriptions would probably be a pretty good compromise for your sanity, if you're still up for it!

I always keep this tread open in my browser and check on it from time to time. I greatly appreciate the work you put in to your posts, thank you!

I am part of the problem though, as I have yet to purchase Dreams (I will!). Keeping tabs on the new creations and developments on projects is super interesting, and keeps me thinking about when I will pull the trigger on the purchase.

I've only just now discovered this thread (hit Watch as soon as I opened it, only to discover that it might not be long for this world) but I will most certainly taking Enterprise and some of the other recommendations for a spin very soon. Thanks so much for your efforts.

I love Dreams way too much to not wanting to continue it, I just felt like it didn't resonate with people and was disappointed, I guess... But I might have been wrong! Let's try this middle ground approach then. There were also a bunch of super interesting "best of 2020" videos recently that I will post! :)

Due to lack of interest from the community, I don't feel like continuing this thread.
I mentioned previously that I planned to post here. I get limited gaming time (family etc) but have spent the last few weeks searching for and trying recommended dreams and compiling four collections, of the best games and experiences in both regular TV and PS VR. Inside each collection I have grouped them by type (2D platformer, shooter, racing, showcase, sculpt etc) and created a regular and VR group collection.

I need to save the most recent version a online and of the group collections and post a link here and also start posting some links to the individual dreams to highlight them.

After that extremely vile thread towards Dreams regarding the Kotaku article on here, I have soured quite a bit on how some people in this community view Dreams, sadly.
Thankfully I haven't seen that!

Dreams is so amazing and we need to keep promoting it. I don't know what Mm has planned (other than online multiplayer and maybe native PS5 support) but they have been working for quite some some time now without any major updates or content. All we got was a hint when Alex Evans left that there are some great things in store.

In researching the best games and experiences it opened my eyes to the fact that there are a small handful of devout people that regularly promote Dreams and produce some great reviews etc (mostly highlighted in this thread, but also that there are lots of "best of" collections in Dreams that people have created but most are fairly small or unorganised.

The other thing that I found is that collections (other than your own) don't appear in dream surfing which seems crazy. That means that new players to see just the usual banners/categories that highlight a bit of what's new or trending or recommended by Mm but missing so much in the entire history of Dreams.

There should be a recommended or trending collections list to help new players who want to dig in a little further.

I surfed through Jam entries today for the first time (Open Mic) and it was a lot of fun. Granted, most of the Dreams were pretty lame but there were a few that were quite cool and creative. Even with a bunch of duds, there was an addictive quality to just seeing what would pop up next. Really enjoyed myself.

Corrupt Momentum is a 60 minute FPS with movement mechanics - think Titan Fall but x3 speed.

It has great game design that incrementally introduces enemies with new powers, and then you get guns to counter those powers, and then the later levels start to ramp up the combinations.

Enterprise D is simply a must play for any Star Trek fan - it's simply very cool and makes me wish someone was working on a similar Firefly project.

The Secret of Grisly Manor to be honest I don't know if they've copied the existing game or if it's just inspired by it but it's really, really, stylish.

Those would be my even more condensed choices from that list.

Crazillo is doing great work in this thread and I share their frustration with the persisting (incorrect) idea that quality content is not coming to Dreams every single week.

I've been playing a LOT of Dreams lately, putting together a collection of the best games I've come across (and removing a few that I felt were superceded by better examples). I still have a huge backlog in my play later queue but one game that I just played impressed me after all this time is this:

Cobra Strike

indreams.me

COBRA STRIKE

A top down shooter, three story driven levels with oodles of power ups, collectables and things to shoot at :) THANK YOU to all that have played and left such wonderful reviews! PLEASE CHECK RELEASE AND VERSIONS NOTES FOR FULL UPDATES!

It is very well put together and a unique style. Sadly, it is only three levels. If it were extended, with a bit more gameplay and a bit less less story, it would make a cracking game.

OP - I'm as guilty as many for not cross posting, but I appreciate seeing the thread bumped. I'd totally be happy for you to post more basic aggregations of youtube videos and only post additional thoughts when you have the time/inclination.

Do you also post these on twitter by the way?

Two more well made games that are fun to play:

Tiny Pier Simulator 1904
(Made by Mm so has more visibility but is too good not to mention)

indreams.me

Tiny Pier Simulator 1904

Tiny Pier allow you to create and manage your very own Tiny Pier on the seafront. Unlock rides and shops, deal with disasters and the grumpy Mayor. Will you succeed?

Shuffleboard
I played this for more than an hour. It has that "one more go" feel and can be played against AI or with local multiplayer (pass and play).

indreams.me

Shuffleboard

The fun of Shuffleboard brought home for you to enjoy! 3 different bars to play with 6 different opponents to challenge, or battle a buddy in 2 Player (Pass&Play) mode. Many thanks to @Amenjo1 who made it all possible!

I'm gonna just jump in here real quick and say this isn't the point of this thread.

thank you.

Tiny Pier Simulator is great fun. I'd like more Mm creations as part of their support for Dreams. Not to take away from new features for creators (and much better ways to discover stuff) but engaging content will really help (with multiple styles/genres)

Quick question, if I enjoyed something like RPG Maker would Dreams be worth it for £17 physical? I certainly enjoy creating things but I've never really looked into Dreams so I don't know how complicated it is to actually make something.

Listened to an album on Apple Music today which was made by Byvsen in Dreams. Was a really nice instrumental album and great to listen to in the background during work

UglySofaGaming Was a bit surprised this is supposed to #15 when the previous one was #16? :D

Uh oh...think it was meant to be #17!

Thanks for the update - I just posted an edited version of our Enterprise D play through if you haven't had a chance to see it

Deadzone by NauticalSuatch was a nice surprise this week, gorgeous FPS with lots to it.

Really need to get back to playing Dreams. Also wish Sony would release this for PS5 ASAP....

Crazillo I was wondering if you ever came across my YouTube channel (My username)

I've been showcasing Dreams since Early Access but I definitely think I have some discovery problems, I often see Lady Lex, Ugly Sofa etc get mentioned as Dream Youtubers and I really don't know what i can do to be part of the conversation!
