Have the game for PC but haven't come close to finishing it.

Just tried the Switch version in handheld mode. It seems to run at sub-native res but doesn't look terrible. It does feel a bit sluggish due to some input lag and lower FPS. The symphonic battle theme is also played at a slower tempo, which gave the illusion that the game was running slowly.

Still considering starting over on the Switch, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

I'm already alternating between Grandia 1 and Fire Emblem, but I've been dying to play this game. Stop spoiling me!

When people say progress carries, is it some items or full on you can overlevel and run wild in a beginning area type thing? Cause I will totally do that. Lol.
The latter and its not just the beginning area. The demo goes for quite awhile. Several hours unless you skip through everything.

This game is absolutely stunning. They did a fantastic job with this port.

That being said, I find the voice acting for Gemma to be kinda annoying lol

The new orchestrated soundtrack adds so much to this game. Played a good bit of this on PS4, but the soundtrack was a real turnoff. Might double dip for the soundtrack alone

Yeah honestly, as someone who put 70 hours into the PS4 version, I'd say that is the change that feels the most impactful. Battle speed is also pretty dope for someone like me. I never thought it felt slow in the PS4 version but as a second play through it is a good QoL change.

Okay, now that I've set the speed of battles to 2x and battle camera to classic, it feels much better to play.

I really like this picture: loads of architecture on display, some nice flowers, the city wall, the colonnade, and the balding head of an old man!

Sounds like a meaty demo. Got it downloaded, looking forward to actually playing it later.

I do love the 2D mode tease lol "choose your mode! except... in this demo you can only use 3D mode so select that you jerk"

I'm sorry if this has been discussed, but does the game load faster than the PS4 version?
I get the feeling so far in the demo that loading times have been shorter.
It could be me misremembering how long the load times actually where.
It appears to me that the load times are equivalent, but assuming you are playing digital, a lot of this will come down to just what kind of SD Card you are using.

Man, playing a game with really nice in-engine cutscenes sure is refreshing after 60+ hours of Fire Emblem lol

Spent about an hour with the demo during lunch, and really enjoyed. The game is gorgeous, and the gameplay is a lot of fun. Very classical JRPG, but in a way that feels clean and fresh. Plus I feel like you don't see that many JRPGs with combat like this anymore so it doesn't feel that staid (and as someone who hates ATB combat, I'm all for it). I've been playing with hard enemies on, which feels about right. Enemies are dangerous enough that I have to be careful, but it's not ridiculous. I started with the modifier that reduces xp from weak enemies, but it was too strict so I turned it off. I like the combat so I hung out a bit in the first open area fighting a few guys and immediately stopped gaining xp, which was lame.

Really looking forward to getting deeper into the demo and then transferring to the full game later in September. Like what I've seen so far a lot.

e: Also after listening to the silly accents in the English dub (which I like, but I understand why they'd bother some people), I propose the OT title should be "Tor Blimey".

Tried the demo, looks good but blurry.

I played the PS4 version, but the orchestred soundtrack and the extras are tempting. I might get in a sale.

I just played 30 min. in portable mode and the game looks good and runs surprisingly well. I'm pleasantly surprised with how much they've managed to retain of the visuals in this version. It's a bit soft and oddly desaturated, but the overall image in portable mode is fine. I'm not going to pick it up until later because I've spent a lot of time on the PS4 version not too long ago, but I'll definitely double dip later for portable play and 2D mode. The Switch version seems to be packed with extra goodies as well, an easy game to recommend. Have fun!

For those curious about the IQ in portable mode, here are some of my screens (through twitter compression). It looks really good.

I only heard a couple tracks from the synthesized soundtrack, but this orchestrated soundtrack really livens up the game for me.

Game is a little blurry on handheld, but the art style and consistent framerate (I've been playing so much Builders 2 that I'm forgetting what this is like) helps me put that flaw aside.

Platypunks made me a little cautious, but overall, the difficulty is making me decide that I'll restart with the super strong monsters modifier.

Overall, this game is making me confident about buying the full game.

i don't get the people that say this looks bad in portable mode.

It's 540p on a 720p screen, it's no rocket science, it looks bad. Playable, but bad looking.
It looks good on stills, but have it in motion on your own device is something else.
Postings like these:
IQ on handheld is really good. I'll play it exclusively that way.

Are just ridiculous because they are straight lies and objectively not true. The IQ just isn't good.

It looks surprisingly good in docked mode, was really surprised here, be wise some areas like the mountain area seems to be 900p, but handheld is just blurry.

It's a bit blurry in handheld but it's acceptable at least for me. I'm planning on spending a majority of my time in handheld.

Maybe I've just learned to care less about portable game performance on the switch but man is it a constant thing here on era to see people determine a purchase based solely on that. Like I knew the game would have some drawbacks since the ps4 version wasn't exactly 4k/60 fps but it looks good considering it's a portable DQ11. Buying this because I stopped playing the ps4 version once extra content was confirmed.(giving my ps4 copy to a friend who wanted to play it)

So, just loaded back into the game, and that went really fast? I didn't time it, but it wasn't more than 20 seconds for sure.

What load times did some of you encounter when you said loading took a long time?

It looks really, really good in handheld mode. To me. To you it may look blurry but you're not the authority on subjective appreciation of how a game looks.
