He almost looks too conventionally pretty now, I kinda miss his DA:I eggface. Also no more sad puppy eyes, he looks more hardened, determined and dark, sobs.
I was thinking Ghilain'nain and Andruil myself.I'm guessing Mythal and Elgar'nan? Seems the two are connected, like two rulers, so that's my guess.
You'll get the required lore dump and codex entry with the new one too I'm sure.I am hoping they used up all of their "Bioware Magic" on Andromeda and Anthem and make a proper game this time.
That is a little disappointing, will have to take a wiki-dive at some point I guess.

New website photo:
The two figures upside down beside Solas, do they remind anyone else of the elhven god murals?
I do know it's filled with red lyrium, so wherever that might be, it's pretty fucked lolI was thinking Ghilain'nain and Andruil myself.
Also think the city below the wolf is the "Black City" and the figure to the right is Corypheus with his orb which the Dread Wolf Tried to use to tear down the veil and the figure to the left is Meredith symbolising the idol which is hinted he's going to use to break down the veil in Tevinter Nights?
They defo look similar to that which is why I think Ghilain'nain and Andruil. For that monster woman , the monster creatures are associated with Ghilain'nain and she has a giant spear which is associated with Andruil and both those gods are lovers to each other according to the Dalish. And I think Andruil associated with the blight as well? She made an armour out of the Void and every step she sickened the land, sounds very blightyAnyone got that dragon age 4 concept art where the companions are doing battle with a giant centepede hybrid with a upper torso for a humanoid?
Oh shit, good catch.Anyone got that dragon age 4 concept art where the companions are doing battle with a giant centepede hybrid with a upper torso for a humanoid?
edit: i fucking found it. here we fucking go gents ad ladies
Being part of The Game Awards this year was so exciting for all of us here at the studio, and we hope it was for you too.
Earlier today we teased a little more about Dragon Age, giving you a glimpse of the story and some of its characters. And, surprise! Another team within BioWare has already begun pre-production on the next chapter in the Mass Effect universe.
Rich, branching narratives, choices with consequences, and intriguing characters are central to the entire Dragon Age franchise, and we're putting a lot of work into these. You'll form relationships with companions who will fight by your side when you experience this true Dragon Age saga set in Thedas, a world in need of a new kind of hero.
We've got a lot more in store for the Mass Effect universe and while we've got a long runway ahead of us before we'll be ready to show you more, we hope the teaser set the tone for where we're headed next. The teaser is full of hints about what we are planning, and we hope you have fun finding them all!
In the meantime, the Mass Effect Legendary Edition is coming in Spring 2021, so we'll see you all back in The Citadel very soon.
As we approach the holiday season, we want to send a heartfelt thank you to all of you for your passion for our games. We are excited about the future of BioWare, and to be making the games you want us to make. We look forward to sharing more about Dragon Age and Mass Effect, as well as the other titles the teams are working on here at BioWare in the new year.
Stay safe, have a wonderful holiday season,
The BioWare Team
Long road ahead, I'm just glad Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is just around the corner and will keep me busy for a while. I hope they start showing the game next year, at least, if it's still, indeed, a 2022 game.
Gotta say, though, having both a Dragon Age game and a Mass Effect game in the same generation is going to feel gooood.
To be fair, even in Origins, Ferelden is stated to be considered the backwards rural region of Thedas.I love just how freakin' weird the art direction has gotten for this series. DA4 seems to be pushing it even further.
It's almost jarring to go back to Origins and it's off-brand LOTR/D&D aesthetic now.
Would love that too, but going back to the Eclipse engine would be one big oof. They would have to overhaul the engine to include a ton of new graphical features one would expect from a remaster and then they might as well just remake the games on Frostbite.I still want a trilogy remaster for current consoles after Mass Effect although I don't see it happening.
I need my fix and a repeat of all the Lord and DLC.

Which kind of means I guess we will never see this.
Wonder how it will go without David Gaider, who has probably been the most influential writer on the DA franchise. He is responsible for many of the most popular characters such as Alistar, Morrigan, Cassandra, Dorian.. but he did have a few stinkers as well such as Fenris and Zevran. Outside of DA, he is responsible for both Viconia and HK-47. He was massively influential when it came to Solas as well.I think a key part of this is that it feels like a direct Inquisition sequel. It's a new hero, of course, but you now have a major arc that affects the whole universe with Solas. I really trust Patrick Weekes and John Epler to do the narrative justice leading their departments. They're exceptionally skilled.

Yeah, Trespasser along with the Ball are the best parts of Inquisition. I've been looking into who wrote which character in past Bioware games, and its been pretty interesting. Another one who stood out was Lukas Kristjanson. He wrote Carver, Sera and Aveline. Outside of that he is responsible for Jacob, Kaidan and Liam from Mass Effect, probably the most hated trio in the franchise, lol. To be fair though, he did write Grunt. Dont know if he is working on the new Dragon Age.As for the protagonist, I think we'll still be a thief. BioWare has a tendency to recycle ideas into new contexts, plus with Qunari rogue companion it's going to be hard getting around in official channels.
Trespasser was incredible and was the first story content without him, so that's a good sign. His voice for characters will be missed, though.
To be fair, Patrick wrote Solas too. He is. He appears in the Gamescom behind the scenes.Yeah, Trespasser along with the Ball are the best parts of Inquisition. Yeah, Weekes is the creator of Solas as far as im aware. They are also responsible for Cole and Iron Bull. Outside of that, we have Mordin, Jack as well as co-writing Miranda and Samara, as far as I can find out.To be fair, Patrick wrote Solas too. He also wrote incredible characters in Mass Effect.
They also took over Tali, Kasumi, Legion, and Joker from their previous characters, and wrote Samantha Traynor.Yeah, Weekes is the creator of Solas as far as im aware. Yeah, the circumstances of Jacobs loyalty mission in particular were unfortunate to say the least. Certain harmful stereotypes should honestly be pretty easy to write around.Kristjanson....my Bioware Nemesis ⚔⚔the racism in Jacob's writing and the ableism lesbophobia and transphobia in Sera's......................unreal. also aveline fucking SUCKS. Carver and Kaidan are amazing in spite of Kristjanson not because of him

I dislike Sera a lot, but thats more due to her stereotypical quirky "free-spirit" disposition, and her often incomprehensible way of talking and failing to communicate even basic information. I get that it was supposed to convey something along the lines of: "She just thinks differently than us normies! Isnt it so endearing?" But to me it just came across as forced, and trite as hell.
I honestly dont recall what you are describing in regards to Sera's other character deficiences. Could you elaborate?
Would you say that its more like Jacob's story mission, which is more a case of insensitivity or maybe an unfortunate oversight, or is it supposed to be part of the "realism" of Sera's character, that she simply is like this, which it isnt an endorsement of her opinions so to speak. I guess maybe it could be both.uhhh well other people have worded this better than me but Sera is neurodivergent-coded and the game just has everyone telling her she's "crazy" and "doesn't make sense" all the time. like the dialogue often forces you to pick between different variations of insulting her. the fact that a man was chosen to write the first lesbian companion was bad enough but he also gave us TWO abusive sapphic relationships in DAO (leliana/marjolaine and branka/hespith). and there are several casually transphobic remarks sera makes which are just ugly and bullshit (misgendering a trans person at the winter palace most prominently)
Same, one thing I like about is the story is bigger than one character, and I actually thought the ending of Trespasser were my "Andraste's Herald", the one who had been built up as a saviour finds out that they can't save everyone, that they may be the less equiped to do so and need others. I kinda like that fallible momentI'm the opposite. I outright would have abandoned the series had they carried over a previous protagonist- any protagonist. I don't want my Inquisitor to matter anymore, I want to build someone up, be someone who affected by the events of Inquisition forges their own story.
That last one reminds me that I really wanted to play my Inquisitor again. It's her quest, it's her story arc, and it's far from being over. I guess I kinda knew that the possibility of a new protagonist was very strong, and likely to happen, but I'm still disappointed at this confirmation we got last night, I genuinely think my Inquisitor is just starting, she has the most at stake here, it's up close and personal for her, and it's her quest most and foremost. I wonder how I'll end up vibing with an entirely new character, but that'll need some amazing introduction as well as getting used to, for sure.
Maybe we will have the opportunity to play our Inquisitor again, in a dual protagonist kind of way, but I guess I shouldn't hold onto that hope too much, sigh.
