Everyone's wrong, they work!

"We are confident in the plate that has been presented. They work—but as with any issue, I'm sure you can appreciate, we welcome feedback."

The real problem was the Liberals.

Despite that, when asked how the government was going to fix the apparent problem, the minister instead criticized the previous plate design and the Liberal government that implemented them.
"I'm sure everyone here today would agree with me, whole heartedly, that the status quo, the flaking and peeling Liberal plates were not an option to stick with," Thompson said.
"Ontarians deserved better and we're delivering on that," she added.

'They work': Government stands by new Ontario licence plates despite apparent design flaw

The Ontario government is defending the design of its new licence plate a day after the Ford administration confirmed it was looking into reports that the plates are unreadable at night.

These new plates are hard to read during the day... I have a friend who has a new set and he mentioned that it's a glorified sticker. Thankfully they haven't changed the custom plate design yet, so I guess it's time for me to suck up the costs and just do it now.

Also I didn't realize they were redesigning the photo ID's... mine expires this year...

Lets remember this 16 years from now when the nothing of a liberal scandal hits and the Cons try to make themselves relevant again.
Not only will we forget about this and all of Doug Ford's other offenses, but we'll be steadfastly reminded by the media about that one time Bob Rae was premier and fucked over the entire human race.

I LOATHE our media. I LOATHE them and their blatant agendas.

The previous plates' adhesive flaw had been identified and resolved years ago, but of course they're going to shout "BUT THE LIBERALS!" when called-out on a fuckup. These people can never admit when they're at fault, on anything.
Reporters should hit the OPC with "why don't you believe police officers when they say this is a problem?" lol

It's funny when I think about my dad's vanity plate being 30+ years old without any problems. Same with my uncle's normal plate. Mine is 15+ years old and it's perfect also. lol

A car with these new plates went by me in the opposite lane, I can confirm that you can't see shit when headlights are being shone on them. I can also confirm that these new plates are hideous.

When the owners of the 407 can't identify plates and therefore their profits tank, Dougie will cave.

Literally drove past someone with them about 10 minutes ago on my way home and the plate was a grey blur.

"They work."

What is it about middle Candadian/American (white) people voting for idiots?

Blame the stupid electoral system. Sixty percent of the electorate voted for parties other than the Conservatives. The NDP/Libs/Greens = 60%, and the Cons = 40%. Congratulations, our electoral system gives majority power to a party who the majority of the electorate despises (its the same breakdown on the National level too, actually a little more than 60% because you have to add the Bloc voters in as well). Yay, what a wonderful democratic system.

Toronto's photo radar cameras having trouble reading new Ontario licence plates
Toronto's new photo radar program may be off to a slow start after preliminary data from the city suggests the font size of the new Ontario licence plates can't be seen by the cameras.

A spokesperson for the city said staff could not provide a "conclusive evaluation" because the photo radar cameras have only come across a small number of the new plates, but so far the smaller font size of the jurisdiction name — Ontario — has some "visibility challenges," especially at night.

"When you look at the old plate versus the new plate it does appear that the 'Ontario' text is smaller than it was, and that's primarily where our challenge is," said Mike Barnet, the manager of Automated Enforcement, adding that identifying the jurisdiction is a requirement for issuing the ticket.

The dumb part of that statement is the fact that the Conservatives were in charge the last time Ontario license plates were redesigned.

I expect nothing better from this clown show government. Love this shit blowing up in his face after platitudes of cutting waste during the election.

Ontario government shifts blame for hard-to-read licence plates to the manufacturer

A day after insisting there’s nothing wrong with Ontario’s new double-blue licence plates, Premier Doug Ford’s government is now trying to shift blame to the manufacturer after complaints the plates are hard to read in the dark.

Now they're blaming 3M lol.

Idiots. Voted in by idiots.
The worst part about this is, let's say 3m is responsible for the fuck up, the government still has to test it themselves and sign off on it not just accept what a contractor gives you. This still looks bad on them.

The party of fiscal responsibility and personal responsibility really loves to fuck over citizens and waste their tax dollars. Everyone should just laugh in the face of any right winger that ever tries to bring up that the right is fiscally conservative

The people OK'ing these unecessary changes and then fucking it up (double waste of money) should have their pay docked.

They're unreadable at night. I don't really care if a government wants to change the plate design; it's happened many times before so whatever. But to approve a design with such an obvious and crippling (from a crime prevention POV) problem is inexcusable.

Just drove behind a car with one of these plates tonight. Could not see a damn thing on the plate despite being pretty close behind the other car. It wasn't until I was passing in the next lane that I could finally read it.

Yup, whoever OK'd this 100% did not test it in real world conditions, or they did test it and were just plain horrible at their job.

Had not even thought about that. Yeah they are going to think it's fake or being done on purpose to hide a crime or some shit.

They don't keep up to date with what we do for designs. I know when I went to Vegas really soon after the purple id cards came out and I had one, places where I had to show it first didn't believe it was actual ID. I got questioned at bars and at the casinos.

Enhanced licence plate in development, Ford government says after admitting visibility issues

A day after admitting that Ontario’s new licence plates are plagued by visibility issues, the Ford government says an enhanced plate is currently being developed and should be available in “less than three weeks.” “We have heard the concerns of Ontarians and have taken their feedback seriously...

"For Ontarians who have already received new licence plates, an enhanced version will be provided to them via mail."
The statement adds the Ontarians will continue to receive the current plate through Service Ontario locations until the enhanced plate becomes available.
Approximately 49,000 of the new plates have been distributed to Ontarians, and an additional 134,000 are currently in Service Ontario locations, the government said.

~183K defective plates need to be replaced? So glad we have such a "fiscally responsible" government. 😆 💸
Also, how the fuck are there so many already?

So, how close is Ford to reaching Wynne levels of "We're going to punish your party by voting you out as an object lesson" or are there areas outside of Toronto that still have no clue how bad Ford is, and would re-elect him in a heartbeat?

I saw these plates the other day and nothing was legible. I thought it was some novelty plate or something from the US. Ford is a scumbag, what a waste of money.
