The more I think about it the more I enjoy the whole Sex Ghosts thing. It was funny (though I am surprised it hit TV even as a premium product, even more so as something that is technically DCU and not HBO) but also scary, and the last ones after the banishment of the shadowy Mr. Evans kind of bumping across the floor lethargically with all the enthusiasm of disinterested porn stars was just magnificent.

Flex flexing his ears to make Dorothy fly is legit one of My favorite tv moments, this show man.

Pacing of episode 3 is all over the place. Juggling all these characters single story arc
Cliff's daughter
Jane's intervention
Larry's past
Cyborg's life
Dorothy 's hide and seek
Then finally Niles and Rita

That's 6 story arc in a single episode

I honestly think they do a good job with balancing it all, outside Cyborg's stuff.

Cyborg saying that he couldn't "heal here" aka with the found family of the Doom Patrol and then questioning Larry on if he could made me side-eye Vic something fierce.

My dislike of Cyborg's shoehorned-ness is vast and all encompassing and that moment solidified it all in amber, guy just doesn't belong.

Yeah, they definitely haven't found his place in the overall structure of the show. I always thought his inclusion was pretty odd, and thought maybe they'd do something off the wall with him, but they really haven't at all.

There was a brief moment in the first season, I wanna say it was around the time he tried to meet up with that girl he met online, that I thought he could work if they played into the fact that he is a well-adjusted individual who isn't like the rest of the group. A nice contrast for the others to bounce off of, I mean he already basically is 'Robotman but if it wasn't hell to be Robotman' so why not have that be his character?

Instead they just tried to grim him up some, I guess in an effort to make him "fit in" but he just seems snappy and angry most of the time.

Cyborg is the token normie in a group of weirdos. The twist is that Cyborg is just as weird, but in a different way. I love him on this show and think he fits in well

idk where the romance plot is going to go tho

This show is crazy. I love it when I have no idea what is going to happen next. I probably say WTF more than Cliff.

Dorothy is a good character. She's a good addition to this crazy bunch of weirdos.

It's like he's judging the other members of the group.

I was digging the different pairings this episode

(Steele & Stone being a highlight) but then things were going too well and then holy shit this episode got depressing then it got wild then it got dark as hell.

Jesus Christ. The end was of course crazy but also Larry just can't get a fucking win, can he?

Man Larry cannot get a break...
I assume its the hospital thing that killed everyone that his son digged up on

I am also shocked that
the candlemaker can enter inside Jane's underground and destroy one of her personalities

it might have been two. I think the fire one got killed as well. not 100% sure on that one but it would make sense since the fire one was the one that killed Dorthy's friend.

I loved all the BFF stuff between Rita and Larry, Baby Doll and Dorothy, and Steele and Stone.

Yessiree, that's all that happened this week!

Cliff Steeling the show once again. Poor Larry, as always.

And am I the only one who thinks Cyborgs girlfriend is really after his cybernetics somehow?

i have a question for those that have read the comics.. how far into the Doom Patrol comics do you think i can read without spoiling what might be coming in the show? ive kept myself to the pre-Morrison stuff so far but really want to start heading into that era.

At least up to the second brotherhood of Dada story I would think, the way they are adapting things I think you would be safe since it's not 1:1 adaption as long as you avoid the endgame with Dorothy and the Candlemaker. Plus some references would be more awesome for you like Larry getting the nesting dolls.

Wow, I had no idea this series dates back to the early '60s. I assumed it was a weird modern thing like The Tick or The Boys.

If not necessarily that there has to be something more there. They wouldn't do this much building of those two just for him to be happy; they have to make every person in the crew miserable. She's gotta be some sort of agent working on opening him up to get at some thing or another...something underhanded has to be happening, right?

I mean to be fair if I'm wrong and anyone is just going to find a partner and be genuinely happy it would make perfect sense for that to be Cyborg. He's the "normal" one after all.

I'd love for it not to be, and that's why I ask like I am the deluded one, but With the bedroom conversation just something seemed off.

Well that escalated quickly.

My thoughts exactly, it was all fun and games just a minute ago. Didn't realize Babydoll had powers too and a mean streak.

So Cyborg left Cliff in the car while he went all Booyah! with his girlfriend, smh.

Larry really is Negative Man, not just because of the Negative Spirit but also all the negative thoughts/emotions constantly swirling around him.

Rita got the acting part and saved a life.

I am pretty sure every one of Kay Challis's personality's has a power, at least they did in the comic (where it was a result of the gene bomb that affected the larger DC universe if I remember correctly) and yes, it was nice seeing Rita get a win of substance. Now if only Larry could catch a break.

I get this feeling

Cyborg's Girlfriend is an agent of that bureau of normalcy from Season One or H.I.V.E. I still don't trust this lady yet

I know it's not going to be relevant but I wonder if Baby Doll could access the other people in the underground's powers or if they came to protect her. She didn't actually shift so I imagine it was just BD taking the powers tho I could imagine the other members of the underground would give her certain privileges and concessions as they seem to be really protective of innocence.

That's cool to hear, she really is super powerful although she isn't fully in control of her power set. Kinda reminds me of David on Legion with the different personalities and incredible powerset.

Yeah, the biggest difference (again more comic than show knowledge for me) is Janes personality's for the most part have roles and at least try and want to work together, whereas with David Haller the personality's are more distinct and defined and a lot of them would erase all the other personality's and become the "true" one if they could find a way.

Interesting. The personality aspect on Legion was always a bit murky for me, as most of David's issues on the show seemed to result from The Shadow King primarily and he wasn't juggling a bunch of personalities like Jane is on Doom Patrol.

Not sure what the eventual fate of Baby Doll might be, but if she isn't able to return Diane Guerrero might be happy not to have to do that voice again, lol.
