Random question but what's the name of the track used in this memey twitter video? I know it's from DOOM Eternal cause I remember it was in one of Mick Gordon's tweets.

I think the story and lore in Doom is pretty cool, but it was delivered in a manner where the game expects you to be familiar with the backstory and codex entries from the previous game. I didn't mind the cutscenes in Eternal but if you have never read a single codex entry then I can see why it is confusing. Good idea, bad execution in essence.

I think I'll have to read all the codexes in 2k16 and Eternal again, the story seems to have become a complete mess with Eternal, like id just stockpiled Warhammer books and a ton of booze, and got completely hammered while they made up something resembling a backstory/lore :p
I agree with quite a few things here, and the joke about demons and Australia got a chuckle out of me.

Some of these are explained in the game, and a lot of them are just "why don't we teleport directly to the boss room/the artifact we're looking for?" when it's just videogame logic.
The stuff with Vega/Samuel is the same stuff we've all been questioning since the game came out and is rightly called out.
Are you fucking kidding me?
You wait till I beat the game on Ultra Violence to show this to me? 😩
Can't say I related to any of that, sorry. The video game logic stuff I'm generally OK with, I'm more referring to the terrible platforming and stuff relating to gameplay etc.
It's not just you. The game is far more intense than 2016. I can't play Eternal for too long at a time because I get too wired and worn out playing it.Okay, I am probably late to the party here, but I play games pretty slow these days.
I played 2016 and loved it.
I feel like despite the obvious inclusion of the platforming sections, now that I am further along the intensity seems to be way more than 2016 ever was. Is that just me? Do I just not remember 2016?
Like I really do not remember feeling as much adrenaline playing 2016 as I am getting playing this game.
And I am only on fucking Mission 06. The Arc Complex.
I literally had to stop playing just now as I was worried if I kept playing I would not be able to go to sleep in about an hour like I normally do and wake up for work.
It is just fucking intense.
I really think my days of playing intense games like this may be coming to an end, which is kind of nuts to come to grips with. If this game came out when I was 20, I would be all over this shit night and day. In fact I was 19 when the first DOOM came out and it was basically all I played for about a half a year. But now, after a long day of working from home and everything going on in the world currently, and perhaps it is because I am 46 years old, I don't know.
I just do not know if this is what I am seeking from a video game. Shit is really chaotic. Way more than I remember 2016 being. And again, I loved 2016. Maybe it was just 2016 had better level design and it was even more chaotic? I do not remember a single encounter in 2016 like the one that just made me stop for the night. It was super confined and just chaos going on.
Yeah. I guess I just do not know if I actually love this game or actually dislike it. It is making me feel old though. That is for sure.

Wait, i cant fast travel in previous completed missions?
Wtf should have done the slayer gate #2 at the time instead of thinking to do it later. Well wont make that mistake again...
Or just an option to load up a level from a state where fast travel is unlocked.Yeah it sucks but it kinda makes sense. You'd kinda break the level if you could fast travel to the very end without unlocking the red, yellow, blue key cards throughout the level. I think they should've just gave us a slayer gate menu after finishing a level.

It's definitely more intense than 2016. More decisions to make and required resource management will lead to faster mental fatigue
I have to take a break after every mission otherwise my aim and reactions noticeably drop
Thanks and sorry I am posting damn near 24 hours later. I just shut all tech down last night after posting what I did in attempt to hopefully fall asleep at a normal time and was a long day at work today, so just checking back now. It didn't work by the way shutting off from all tech. My mind was racing for damn near 2 hours thanks to this game. It's not just you. The game is far more intense than 2016. I also have trouble sleeping after. I need to wind down after a session.
It's much more intense than most other games I've played.
12-15 hours but depends on difficulty. Closer to 20 if you die a lot.
However, after weeks of great community feedback, we agree that Slayers on console are at a slight disadvantage due to the lower overall DPS output possible on a controller. Against the best teams, Slayers were finding it difficult to do enough damage in the small windows the current balance on demons and their abilities were providing.
It is our hope that this patch will bring the challenge for Console-Slayers more within reach and the overall feel of the match will be more consistent now between all platforms.
I hear that. After a long day of work and watching my kid at the same time, I'm usually too tired to feel like playing something as intense as this game. Sometimes I play it anyway because i won't be able to otherwise, though. I've had pretty slow progress in that it can sometimes take more than two hours per level (and who fucking knows with this slayer gate I'm on lol), and I only get maybe one hour of play in every few nights. Thanks and sorry I am posting damn near 24 hours later. I do think I really kind of enjoy it overall, it is incredibly hectic and intense. But seriously it is not something I can play every day. Especially after a long day of work like I had today. Will revisit it again over the weekend. I think this is basically going to be the game I play for the next few months here and there.
Seriously though thanks for confirming I am not the only person that feels this way. I really thought I may be losing my touch so to speak. Turns out it is just a crazy intense game. I appreciate hearing it was not just me.
There is the equivalent of new game+ after defeating the final boss.Without spoiling the story or anything like that, is it possible to unlock the masteries for all the weapons before the end? I am at the point where I was warned "if I go through the portal I will not be able to return to the fortress until the mission is complete" and despite 100%ing every mission so far, I still haven't fully modded my arsenal yet and would like to before finishing my playthrough. Or maybe there's a new game+ or something?
So as of now, I simply don't have enough gun points to unlock all the mod upgrades. I'm assuming the remaining levels will provide me with those, and I should save my mastery tokens to immediately unlock those mod masteries as I get themThere is the equivalent of new game+ after defeating the final boss.
It is possible to max every weapon on a single playthrough, but maybe not before the "point of no return." You can still upgrade the guns in mission though.
You'll still earn weapon points in the levels after the PONR, and you can either unlock the final upgrades by doing the mastery challenges or using the tokens. After completing the story you can go back and play all the levels (on different difficulties, if you want) to get unlocks and additional weapon points. So as of now, I simply don't have enough gun points to unlock all the mod upgrades. I don't know, I too went back and used mission select to not only find all the secrets but to earn those sweet sweet weapon masteries.Weirdly, the game seems to give MORE suit upgrade tokens than are needed to max the suit. Not sure if that's also true for weapons.
