Sounds like you'll be pleased. Without spoiling anything, the side lore from Doom 16 (particularly the Sentinels stuff) has been massively expanded, and there's now full cutscenes.
There's a lot of new and original lore on this one. I'm loving every aspect of it (it also feels like a cross between Gears of War and Warhammer 40K).
They are all skippable and they only last a few secs.Im not even sure they can be skipped, and I dont want to miss anything of the story.
The problem is taking away player control
Yeah uv is the perfect sweetspot for a first playthrough, at least for me. Keeps me on my toes without being frustratingFelt like a badass halfway into the first mission and upped the difficulty to nightmare... I'm about to go back to ultra-violence. What the fuckkkk lol.
I don't suppose you could record some footage or stream or something? I'm so curious to see what's happening haha.I AM DYING SO MANY TIMES.
I'm keeping moving, I'm trying to manage resources, I'm trying to switch between weapons and I am still getting absolutely slaughtered on Hurt Me Plenty.
I'm being the suckiest suck that ever sucked I guess hahah. I'm trying to make less stupid mistakes and learn from the game, but man there's not much margin is there.I don't suppose you could record some footage or stream or something? I'm so curious to see what's happening haha.
Dashing is your friend. Seriously, don't neglect it.Had to knock the difficulty down to HMP until I get a better grip on the combat. My 2016 strategy of running around like crazy doesn't protect me from Arachnotron shots and the Hell Knight is way faster it seems. Gonna have to learn to be really effecient with weapon choice and destroying them weak spots before jumping back into hard modes.
Great game so far.
I dont feel this is a positive. I liked that Doom 2016 never took away control from the player
I don't know if that's completely true. The thing that stuck out to me after beating 2016 a bunch of times is how intrusive the exposition could be at times. Case in point, the scenes where you find VEGA or when you get to Samuel Hayden's office feel like they take forever, and both of them give you no control at all. Even worse is that these segments are also in Arcade Mode for some reason, meaning that whenever you just want to go through a level that has one of these story moments you are forced to sit there and watch it all over again.
If anything, I think Eternal improves this massively by just letting you skip any cutscenes you come across. It's not something I would ever use for my first playthrough, but for people who don't care at all about the narrative or who are replaying the game it's way better this way.
Well, then you don't get to understand the story, so that's not really a solution.
It happens whenever a game is even slightly out of the boxDoesn't look like this game is even getting a honeymoon period here, that's a bad sign. Maybe it will do the reverse and get one once people actually finish it.
I can't imagine someone both a.) wanting to understand the story and b.) not be willing to sit through cutscenes that feel like they're pretty much under a minute. this game is almost comically brisk.Well, then you don't get to understand the story, so that's not really a solution.
To be fair, at the start, you were really limited in what you could do in Doom 2016 too. That game only really came into it's won once you got 4-5 weapons (not counting the pistol). Like, you could stick to one weapon, but it wasn't efficient and it was boring, so it encouraged you to switch. Doom Eternal ramps that from "encourages" to "demands" but we get the same result and these ammo restrictions start making sense at that point.Getting my shit kicked in on Ultra-Violence. I'm barely efficient at all.
I've played through DOOM 2016 in its entirety upward of 30 times and yet here, I can't do a damn thing because I run out of ammo, am trying to use skills that I don't have yet or I'm playing with the same rhythm that I used in 2016 (run up, punch, shotgun, glory kill, etc.) but here I keep getting caught with my pants down, unable to shoot, out of chainsaw fuel and waiting for my grenade to recharge.
This is going to take a lot of adjusting.
I can't believe this shit is allowed in any capacity. You are literally keeping people from playing software they paid for because you're forcing them to join some shitty ancillary service.
It's about as anti-consumer as it gets.
I'm willing to sit through them, but I'd be enjoying them more if they were done in Doom 2016's style of maintain Doomguy's perspective. Especially since his little mannerisms felt more personal and affective from the first person view. From the outside, so far (i'm on mission 4 or 5 or something) he feels less emotive than when I was behind the helmet. It happens whenever a game is even slightly out of the box

They probably did them in third person because of the cosmetic skinsI'm willing to sit through them, but I'd be enjoying them more if they were done in Doom 2016's style of maintain Doomguy's perspective. ah damn, fair enough I guess, didn't expect anything. I just like the idea of another quake type arena shooter with players lolWell all I can say is.. there is no MP. There is some messed up 2v1 mode. Its not great. In fact id say its shit
What was so hard about doing a deathmatch with no loadouts. Why so difficult :(Well all I can say is.. there is no MP. There is some messed up 2v1 mode. Its not great. In fact id say its shit
You can change the color scheme. In the options or "Customize" I can't remember.
It's definitely a game bug, only in the map view menu. I'm using the HDR calibration from EvilBoris and the game looks amazing.
that's hilarious. Doom stories are probably the easiest stories one can follow.Well, then you don't get to understand the story, so that's not really a solution.
And yeah, level design... they feel like playgrounds. Kind of like a Tony Hawk game.
