I really hope we can turn that down to something more like the original/EX version. This just looks blown out to me and some of that really cool lighting and horror vibe is missing.

did they do more interviews after USG or are nightdive finally discussing this on their discord?The lighting is adjustable. This can be seen in Bethesda live streams of the game.
Also, according to the developers, this is not based on EX, but is a new (and more faithful) recreation of the game using their KEX engine. However, one of the developers is Samuel Villareal who did EX so there's obviously some knowledge that was transferred over.
Yeah and the weapon sprite is also unfiltered, which is very neat!

Coop and multiplayer is impossible due to how room over room works in this version of Doom.
