Like come on this is a character whose sole purpose in life is to protect other woodland creatures
In fact many have pointed out the environmentalist themes in the classic Sonic games, with Sonic 1 starting off in a nice green hill but ending with him infiltrating a cold dark factory which symbolizes industrialisation and threat that humans pose to wildlife...
...and yet his canon favourite food is a mass produced slob of pig meat??
See this started off in the American cartoons and was never really a thing in the canon. Until 2008 where it became official:
Being the anti-industrialist rebel that he is, shouldn't he look at this in disgust??
Let's look at other fictional characters and their favourite foods:
Bugs Bunny eats carrots. Makes sense.
Donkey Kong eats bananas. Makes sense.
Crash Bandicoot eats wumpa fruit. It's a fictional fruit so it's pretty cute honestly.
Mario eats mushrooms. idk if mario actually enjoys eating them but still everyone knows that plumbers love mushrooms. Makes sense.
Sonic eats chilli dogs. Makes no sense.
This is why it baffles me that people want serious stories out of this franchise. How can I take it seriously if they don't want to take it seriously??
