Nothing in the sense that nothing has been brought him down yet. Nothing in the sense that his own party seems fit to allow this to happen. Nothing in the sense that he has placed judges and now a possible AG that will protect him.

Regardless of what Mueller finds, it is up to Congress to to act on it. The House does not have a large enough majority, and the Senate GOP is complicit in his actions. The report may never be seen by anyone other than Barr, who will pass and be the next AG. So unless any of the illegal infor reaches the SDNY, i feel Trump will keep his teflon Don nickname.

Look, I know he's a PoS con man neck deep in illegal shit and nothing more than to see him rot in jail getting ass pounded by his cellmate til he dies. But let's face it. Nothing stuck in his private life. Not sure anything will as president.

I can appreciate the frustration, and I should hope that this is eye opening for a good chunk of the country. You can't vote with the hope that your local Republican rep is "one of the good ones". At the end of the day, they all fall in line.

I'll be surprised if anyone cares about this beyond this thread. Trump was right, he could shoot someone on fifth avenue and no one would care.

Incorrect.

lol.

it's the subject of every tv news outlet and will likely be on the cover of every major newspaper in the country this morning.
Nope. Sorry. Just this thread.

These two posts made me lol. Thanks, y'all. ;)

This suggests the obstruction case is much larger than the Comey firing. It doesn't mean a whole lot until the Mueller report comes out, but it's a good indicator that what I said all along is true: In the end this will not be so much about Trump colluding to win the election as it is Trump colluding to get paid. This is going to be a case built on good old fashioned corruption and influence peddling.

Mueller made sure Cohen pled guilty and was convicted because that makes Cohen a witness and an accomplice to Trump's crimes. Trump can't claim Cohen is a non-credible witness for crimes that they committed together when one-half of the crime duo has already been convicted. Cohen's conviction is based on his testimony and plea. It's not based on a jury deciding his fate vs. any reasonable doubt - he willingly admitted to prosecutors his crimes.

Donald Trump was virtually convicted the same day Cohen was. It's just a matter of the whether Trump is immune to actual prosecution until he leaves office or if the DoJ can take action right now. And whether the Senate is willing to impeach him while he's sitting in office or if they'll just shrug it off and let the DoJ handle it all whenever they're permitted to.

Pennsylvania
impeachment starts. He is found guilty after he lost his reelection bid in 2020.
This is my guess as well. He loses the election and then he REALLY loses when all the crimes are much easier to bring to light. He already is going to owe a ton from just the charity debacle not too mention any garunteed campaign violations he accrued already plus his 2020 campaign which has been going since he first won the presidency. He's done, it just might have to wait until he's out of office.

(Of course, to sum up, this only goes to the introduction of testimonial statements. That's "a solemn declaration or affirmation made for the purpose of establishing or proving some fact," under Davis v. Washington.)
Thanks buddy
Law enforcement officers made this claim, they have receipts or they wouldnt say it
Not that I disagree in the Mueller instance, but hearing this as a general thing about law enforcement officers made me laugh. Surely they'd never claim something they didn't have absolute proof of! /s
Republicans still loved Nixon when he was impeached, it took a Democratic congress to get the job done and then once the deed was done everyone pretended they never liked him.
I don't believe he was ever impeached. He resigned before it happened. Also, he didn't have nearly the Republican support at the end as you're suggesting here.

Did Cohen record any of these conversations, or is any of it in writing?

I'd love to "get him," but Trump is essentially untouchable without hard evidence. Even then it's going to be a battle.

Only 49% of people bothered to vote, and you think it's a massive indictment of the current racist president and his party?

Put it in the context of voter disenfranchisement, history of turn out at mid-terms, etc and you'll come up with a different viewpoint. It is absolutely an indictment of this administration that so many people came out and voted against them. They gained 40 seats in the House. I mean we're talking about a +8 point difference nationwide as far as House results go. If you don't think that's a shot against Trump, I don't think you'll ever be satisfied by election results.

"Michael Cohen was convicted for lying! You can't trust what he says!"

"But he was lying under the orders of the president to cover up illegal campaign contributions in the form of hush money paid to porn stars and Playboy models."

"See!? You just said so yourself! Lying! He's a liar! Fake news!"

No I'm not american, but framing the midterms as an insane an undeniable repudiation of Trump when it means 25% of people bothered to vote against him is utterly delusional.
sure, if you rip it out of the context of american history and culture. But so many people here choose to be uninformed about the workings of their government, or were never taught those things in school, that seeing that many people show up really is an incredible feat. Yes, we as a whole fail to involve our people in politics. But the systems were also designed and modified over time to make participation feel futile, and any gains we make shouldn't be dismissed or minimized.
