Pretty much. Google may be better, but for most times DDG is good enough. And for the times it isn't, there's !g.I use it on all my devices by default. If it doesn't find what I need I add a quick "!g" in front of the search and it punts me to an encrypted google search.
France aside, wouldn't DDG have to comply with GDPR fully regardless of their location if their site is available in the EU?I have used Duckduckgo for a while, but I have now switched to Qwant because yay France and GDPR !
Both are equally good imo, and sufficient for 99% of the searches.
DuckDuckGo being a US company, Patriot act / Cloud Act applies so privacy is still very relative though.
