EXP in English.
XP in Portuguese.

Doesn't make sense but that's how it works for me.

If I'm reading aloud and see EXP I will just say "experience" but if I see XP I will say ecks-pee. If I'm doing the abbreviating, I feel like I'm most likely to use xp but I'll switch it up for no particular reason 🤷‍♂️

It's funny, I've never really thought about it, but doing a quick search of my post history here reveals multiple instances of me using "XP" and zero of the other way.

EXP is experience points, how much something rewards you from defeating it.
XP is experience, how much I as a player have earned towards next level.

Yes, I know it's weird, but that's the way I use it.

EXP

XP looks like a face when you look sideways anyway, so some folks might take it differently out of context.

Are we talking about abbreviating "experience" or "experience points"? I feel like there's a difference there - with "Exp" being the abbreviation for "experience" and "XP" for "experience points" (like HP, MP).

I've never thought about it like that before, but that differentiation makes a lot of sense.

EXP

Follow up question:

HP - Health Points
vs.
LP - Life Points

It's HP.

Depends on game and context, but I would probably write XP in most non-specific cases.
I play tabletop RPG in Swedish and I type "ERF" in that context (Swedish crash course: Experience point = Erfarenhetspoäng => EXP = ERF)

In my field of work as a User Experience Designer, we even go one step further and cut it down to X.

But unrelated to that, I just say EXP.

I'm pretty sure Final Fantasy is the sole reason why I use EXP instead of XP:

This is one of those weird questions where I know I've wrote it shorthand but I have no clear idea which I use now I actually think about it. I think I say EXP.

EXP for rpgs
XP for shooters

Games like call of duty have pushed phrases like "double xp" for awhile now.
