I'm not Googling them to check my errors, since that would be cheating.

RRTANGENTABACUS for N64's Pod Racer game. I don't remember what it unlocked, but it was an important one.

There was something like "I am your daddy" for one of the Army Men games on PC.

Then there was some type of entry code, then you'd type ";!;!;!;!;" over and over again for money in the original Sims game.

The Sonic 1 level select and a whole bunch of Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith codes. I honestly, to this day, still don't know what the konami code is.

Enter 3 hamsters(?) as your name in Bakuretsumuteki Bangai-o on the Dreamcast to unlock every level.

Edit: Googled that to check and apparently they're groundhogs or gophers and this doesn't just unlock the levels but it unlocks a cheat menu too. Not sure I ever knew that lol.

I know several GTA San Andreas ones (PC and PS2) and some GTA V ones (with the controller; I don't really use the keyboard).

Also I know the Ikari Warriors continue code despite never playing the game before lol.

Do level passwords count?

Because I vividly remember CAPIRCBT, from Ecco the Dolphin for Genesis, from when I was a kid.

See, I remembered it incorrectly at the time and entered it as CAPRICBT, switching the R and I. This jumped me to the last level of the game. And I don't know if you know this about Ecco, but it goes weird fucking places at the end. Suddenly instead of dealing with enemies that were regular aquatic wildlife, I was fighting fucking terrifying-looking Giger style aliens WHOSE FUCKING HEADS DETACHED AND CHASED YOU IF YOU HIT THEM WITH AN ECHO ATTACK.

And that is the story of the last time I played Ecco the Dolphin.

Hold L1 and R1, U, D, L, R, R, L, D, U

I believe this was the Weapons code for Twisted Metal.

And there was the DULLARD code for MK1 Genesis which got to the Debug settings.

There is a bunch of others already mentioned in this thread that I knew like the Sonic 1 level select / debug that Krejlooc mentioned.

Even more devlious, NNNNNNNN is the password for "The Machine" in Ecco the dolphin. N is right below the starting cursor position on the password screen. It's very easy to accidentally enter this password, which takes you to such a scary level.

porntipsguzzardo = crapton of cash and resources in SimCity 2000

Because it had the word "porn" in it, we all thought it was quite scandalous to see that written on the chalkboard in our computer lab. I'll never forget that one.

i remember the Turok 1 and 2 unlock everything codes and the F-Zero X button code to unlock everything.
also a few passwords for NES Metroid only because the game was too hard to play normally and i used the codes to be able to play without getting destroyed unfairly.

  • Spawn Jetpack: L1, L2, R1, R2, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, L1, L2, R1, R2, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT

R1, L2, X, L1, R2, Circle
Circle, R2, L1, X, L2, R1
Both of those are for the same game; if anyone knows what game that is, I would be impressed. I still tap that out to this day in any game I'm playing that has a loading screen.
Battle Arena Toshinden 2

MIL (hold all three keys on your keyboard simultaneously) I learned this one before I learned the DOOM codes.
Wolfenstein 3D

Press and hold R1, then press right 6 times, then press and hold circle and press start. Black was always cooler.

Infinite health: down, A, right, left, right, R, right, down, up, Y
Infinite ammo: L, R, X, R, left, Black, R, left, X, down L, L
Lock wanted level: B, right, B, right, X, Y, up

Every single time I booted up San Andreas on the OG Xbox, I entered in those codes before l even left the safe house. And because infinite health doesn't cover damage from drowning, falling or explosions, this next one popped up about every ten minutes:

$250K, health and armor: R, Black, L, A, left, down, right, up, left, down, right, up

Question: how did people find out some of these aside from being told thru magazines or PR?

Were any found by players themselves?

The ecco the dolphin NNNNNNN password was accidentally discovered by a lot of people according to online accounts.

Aside from that, there have been sonic the hedgehog codes found through disassembling the game. For example, there is a code that makes the names of the developers appear on the "Sonic team" splash page that was never discovered in magazines or through PR. Doing the code is only half the equation. The screen actually has tiles that contain the japanese characters for the programmer names, but the color of the font is set to black. Doing the code sets the color to white.

CJ's Elephant Antics on the C64. Magazines would post it backwards because obviously no young children would think to look at it in a mirror.
