Nope never have.

While I certainly wouldn't mind being rich and such I'm perfectly fine with average nobody with a slightly above average in pay job.

I used to have dreams of being famous and respected, but not so much anymore. I'm happy to live a quiet, comfortable life with my family.

I'm never happy with what I have and always aiming for the next rung. Only problem with that recently is that I'm getting more lazy and cynical as i get older.

I majored in marketing, which I immediately regretted as it doesn't interest me one bit. It's my biggest regret to be honest. Then I was stuck 5 years in a comfy government job with zero professional growth. It wasn't until recently that I managed a successful career change and now I'm in my desired area (language / translation) and I'm feeling pretty good about where I am. Some people arrive there much earlier, but such is life :P My ambitions now are just learning more I guess. I want to speak 6, 7 languages before I turn 40 but that would require a lot of planning and discipline.

I am highly ambitious. I've already achieved several goals and currently working in achieving some more. I will start 2020 with a start up running, and a major project delivered that will have a sizeable economic impact on my life which is exciting. That and the fact that thousands will use something built by me 100%.

I also want to publish a book and I want 2020 to be the year I do it.

I'm continually amazed at the amount of increased responsibility I am given, particularly when I do not ask for it. I am surrounded by sharks at my level, and I do nothing intentionally to compete or "push my brand". My ambition is very well known... "I am not dying at my desk like Steve."

Yes, I want to be an executive producer on a AAA game one day.

Still have shit crap loads to learn, though.

Every single job/client I work for I literally lose sleep over, work over time and basically give a piece of my life to. I ultimately wanna be able to dedicate that level of commitment and time to my own projects and still live comfortably.

First, I don't think the poll options have to be in conflict. It's possible to have worked toward a path where both outcomes are reasonably within reach. I've always been ambitious but not obsessed with titles or recognition (because I'm aware of the responsibilities and pressure that can come with them).

I'm a couple of months into a new position, in my 30s and starting a family. Right now, I don't know how much I care about the "next big step" title which would mean having to travel much more often, interacting and meeting up with potential partners regularly, constantly briefing the division director, and managing a team.

I'm in an ok place but have a couple of rungs to go in my career.

I have two boys that I want to raise properly and see succeed, while keeping my marriage healthy and strong.

If I do those things I'll be happy enough.

God no.
I can pay my bills and buy things I am interested in. That is literally all I need and I am content to die in mediocrity after a long ass life achieving exactly that.

I fundamentally do not understand the need to climb the social ladder and claw your way to the presumed societal top spot. Hard pass.

I want to gain my bachelor's and masters degrees while also doing creative work in comics for the stories I want to tell. It's what gets me up in the morning and keeps me going. I don't think I'd be satisfied with with anything else, especially as I enter my early thirties.

Voted no. My only goals are to be a good dad, get a bigger home within the next couple years and retire with a good fund by 55. I'd say I'm on track for those things with a moderate amount of effort.

I did, but I managed to achieve some of them which would have been unbelievable to me ten years ago. At this point, I just want to continue to grow in my career and a nicer home closer to friends and family as my wife and I try to start a family.

I'm very happy, but there is always more, there is always "what's next.", more to learn, more to try, more to earn, more fun to be had.

Sorry, I should have been clearer in my comment. I just meant, that as I understand it, OP is asking if people have high aspirations.. as in career etc. You answered you want to leave the world a better place, but that has little to do with having a well paying job or some position. Leaving the world behind better can be achieved through a lot of ways.
That's all I meant :)

Ahhh, no worries! I get you now. <3

I truly believe I'll be rich someday and possibly quite famous. I am already in the process of getting there, even though I'm completely broke right now.
My life is usually two steps upwards, one step backwards, but seeing where I've come from makes me very proud.
If I don't succeed, it will also be okay since I have been happy with my life and it's living conditions for the last 10 years.
