The post in this thread actually back up what Martin was complaining about. Talking about the quality of the CGI rather then the content of the film, proves the point he was making where these films serve as theme park rides and not cinema.
It's like watching Rosemary's Baby and complaining about the production design when discussing the quality of the film.
See this is exactly why I don't push back harder on the MCU criticism than I do, considering I'm generally a fan of them and have been buying them all up from redbox quite happily; the third acts almost always eschew theme or meaning in order to reenact the Helm's Deep stuff in the LOTR movies. I swear, GOTG is the only one that has a third act where the meaning is baked into its development rather than in service for spectacle, because the fact that the team organizes themselves and the defense army
to actually protect civilians from Ronan's forces specifically contrasts with the way their initial attempts to get the infinity stone for themselves has them all fighting amongst each other and being publicly disruptive (I honestly think that first scene would have been enhanced with a little more property damage), and it's one of the few movies of its kind* where I feel like the action wasn't foremost in service of destruction porn or cool splash panels.
* Star Trek: Into Darkness and Man of Steel were a couple of the previous year's films that I thought were some of the worst offenders and I think the use of the ruin porn in their third acts felt
especially deeply at odds with their themes and source material; GOTG was a deeply refreshing palate cleanser after their garbage. For that matter, Dark of the Moon had done the same thing a couple years earlier. Ultimately my point is that it's hardly a unique problem to the MCU, but those other movies aren't as critically or commercially successful -- nor are they coming out of The Big Company That Wants to Own All the Media.
