Why care about Mandalorian. This series has potential to see his time and what he had to do during his time in the rebellion. Also there are tons of people that liked Rogue One that will probably check this out as well.

Surely, the Rebel's crew at some point would have to interact with 'Fulcrum' Cassian.

Hope by having The Mandalore taking the full attention of the fans, this series is able to do their own thing, without the pressure of being on the main spot.
