I was referring to the outlines you see when you press tab, to highlight things you can interact with. But as others have noted, the white dot with a colored outline is a clickable, to get more info about an area or situation, based on a stat check. (or maybe also skill specific? Not too sure there)

If I recall correctly directly from their devlog, those different color icons correspond to different senses (touch, smell, sight, etc.).

Random question: do I need the prybar/cutters equipped to get prompts to use them? Or will I get the prompts through exploring and know when to put them in my hands?

This is one of those games that is making me super distracted at work. I just want to go home and play more.

Also I didn't like the description of the starter pants so I didn't put them on, nor the white undershirt. Fear my hairy chest and tighty whites!

Put about 90 mins into it. I've laughed more in that time than in some whole games or films. This is absolutely brilliant. Hooked me immediately.

I completely missed the shirt and shoe in the initial room, so my guy was walking around barefoot with just pants and a suit jacket on like a 70s porn cop for most of the first day.

I'll be purchasing this either way but would really like to think through a way to play this comfy couch style so my girlfriend can watch and we could take turns playing. With no dedicated controller support, that would probably mean having to use a wireless mouse and keyboard?

everyone I've asked said to go with your gut. There are just too many important skills here to even min max tbh. And the game uses all the skills so no matter what you choose, there will always be

man, i am seriously sitting here on the floor trudging through this game's shit performance on my old rig because it is JUST. THAT. GOOD.

ive laughed out loud a bunch of times, and even my fiancee has chuckled more than once at some of the voice-over work. its such a sharp, thoughtful, bizarre game and im loving it.

coming in on 2100 hours in-game and im just now trying to get the body down. the interactions with Cuno and Cunoesse are absolutely insane (yes, i 100% punched a 12 year old in the face). ive been doing a pretty good job of rolling with the failures and enjoying the successes in my checks, but some of them definitely bummed me out... as intended, i guess!

hardest part now is deciding what to spend my skill points on. Thought Cabinet, or beefing up my skills? i wouldnt mind pumping up my H/E Coordination or Physical Instrument.

Oh I didn't realize that's how you get new slots. So it's either upgrade particular skills or unlock new places for thoughts - which might upgrade your skills or benefit you in other ways. Hmmmm.

Is there an eventual thought limit? I filled my first three pretty quickly before I realized initialization took up a permanent slot.

12, but you can choose to forget thoughts by spending a skill point.

Where is the lockpick that I saw mentioned somewhere? It is not in the tool box.

How does one get on the roof of the hostel? Haven't found a set of stairs for that yet?.

Went 3522 - Suggestion, which actually seems...kind of boring. Going extreme in a certain direction seems more interesting

I might restart and go full dumb brick. Go heavy on physical or motorics, low mental stats, Shivers + heading out only wearing a shoe

I think there's a reason all of their base suggested builds have 1 in one stat. Seems like it's nice to have some things that are really against you.

I've been playing 1-1-5-5.
My rhetoric failing every single test is one of my favourite aspects. As for the rest, I'm a fucking animal, including my Half-light and Shiver being scared of everything like I'm playing a paranoid gerbil.
I also have weird instinctual sparks of genius, like being able to analyze where the object that broke the window came from and what size it was.
I really can't predict whether my next interaction will be stupid, boring, insane or brilliant. It's part of what's keeping me on my toes.

I went 4-5-1-2 with Inland Empire as my specialisation. Currently playing my cop as someone trying to redeem themselves for past indiscretions, but still coming up as somewhat of a loser.

I definitely got labeled as a 'sorry cop' almost immediately after talking to her. At first I was offended but some introspection made me go 'yeah ok that tracks.'

I wonder if it is wise to raise up skills you aren't strong in, especially if you haven't unlocked the ability to go much higher with thoughts? But points seem pretty generous so far. I wasted 1 point in hand eye coordination to give using a gun a shot, but I imagine future skill checks will be much harder later in the game.

I also put some points into perception (a thought allows me to put 5 more points into it) because I want to be a more observant cop. But my main stat is Psy and the game uses most of those skills for dialogue checks. I dunno if I should reload the game some and just focus on what I'm already good at as I'm not sure if perception will even get used much?

The one thing I kinda dislike is to get rid of existing thoughts you have to use a skill point, an initial warning would have been nice as I have no need for the Ace one since my stat is already high. I probably wouldn't have selected half the thoughts I have with the thought cabinet and now I have like 4-5 thoughts I haven't even tried out.


Edit: for the kitchen, it seems to close up late at night so you have to go in a bit earlier. I also loaded an earlier game and decided it would be a waste to raise perception for now. But I am not sure where I want to spend my points other than fully unlocking thoughts.

I'm finding it works good with my wireless keyboard with trackpad - atleast early on. I've been using this thing as a couch surfer for over 5 years now though, so I'm pretty comfortable with it.
