Well you will have my support and money now thanks Dirt devs for adding higher fps choice especially 120fps

Even if most console owners are yet to own 100+Hz TVs or monitor yet it's nice to have the option and have it futureproofed

I'm sure it'll be just like X1X vs PS4 Pro. 120fps on PS5 but at a slightly lower resolution.

I wonder if there often will be a resolution difference at all. Isn't the Xbox Series X GPU just 18% more powerful than that of the PS5? That does not sound that much and it's much less than for example the power difference of PS4 Pro and Xbox One X which often made significant differences in resolution possible.
Someone made the example of 1080p on PS5 and 1440p on Xbox Series X. Can 18% more power double the resolution?

Do we know how VRR and 120Hz fit together?

is 120Hz a completely discrete mode? I'm wondering if they can they a locked 120 what it drops to, and whether VRR might be a good option too for unlocked games

Great news. Some were downplaying the 120hz since its a cross Gen title. Guess that caveat goes for both.

That's great to hear

precisely, where the series x 120 fps option might come in at 1440p the ps5 could come in at 1080p or something. Not a huge deal of course, and this is all conjecture from my ass
1440p is 3.6 million pixels and 1080p is 2 million pixels. That means xsx needs to be 60% more capable than ps5 gpu wise .
More realistically xsx is 1440p and ps5 is dynamic 1440p with minimum drops to 1260p.(20% difference )

I doubt it would double the resolution, but 18% means something's gotta give, right? In perfect, theoretical conditions, 18% would mean PS5 would be at about 100fps if the Series X is reaching 120. That's a significant difference. Not to mention that the 12TF on Series X is a sustained number, whereas the 10.28TF on PS5 is a "boost" number.

Maybe this just means both systems will be at, say 1440p dynamic, and the PS5 will just drop down a bit more often than Series X. It'll be interesting to see how things play out, for sure.

That there were people in doubt or that the PS5 will be able to deliver 120 FPS? Because if it's the former, just look at twitter lol, and if it's the later, someone has already posted on the first page, but here it is:
Up to 120fps with 120Hz output
Enjoy smooth and fluid high frame rate gameplay at up to 120fps for compatible games, with support for 120Hz output on 4K displays.

I bought an LG C9 to be future proof but I'm looking forward to being able to play at 120fps and still sticking to 30fps because pretty graphics

(Am totally fine with good 30fps like horizon, drive club, PGR 3 I think was 30?)
hahaha! Are you me? I just bought a 65C9 to take advantage of that sweet sweet 120fps, but I know I'll end up opting for increased visuals at 30fps with nearly every single player game.

Still, 120fps / VRR should be soo nice for multiplayer games, online shooters, some backwards compatible games, 2D games like Ori or Dead Cells or Hollow Knight, etc..

Perfec then for our comparisons as we will see exactly the CPU and GPU differences with a higher fps ceiling.

Do you think you could see gains from the SSD?

Wasn't UE5 demo 1440p?

They mean supporting it as an output resolution. A lot of PS4 games are rendered at 1440p but the console doesn't support 1440p so if you play on a 1440p screen you're either stretching a 1080p image (blurry) or downsampling a 4k image if your 1440p screen can recognise a 4k input.

Wasn't UE5 demo 1440p?
Wasn't it 1440p reconstructed to 4K?

For example, PS4 Pro you can get downsampled down to 1080p or checkerboard reconstruction to 4K. On a 1440p display, you actually get it downsampled to 1080p then its upscaling to 1440p. Resulting in poor image quality.

Ohh damn i thought it was xbox series x only thing... but damn so basically slowly most of these next gen quirks are coming to PS5 also or being announced as... I previously thought since MS were touting the power of series x, only it would have this 120 FPS option but nope. Great value for owners of both systems i guess.
