This is nice but all the early access and hardware scoops that DF has been getting make me wary about them being objective in the future.

Ugh.

Why not show the FPS difference....?

The % figures are worthless. Did Nvidia request it to be that way?

Man, when I first saw the price I was sure I was gonna go with the 3070 but the 3080 is now looking mighty tempting.

Perf / tf also went down with 3000 series. Interesting to see if it's due to architecture or diminishing returns due to old software.

How many XSX, how many PS5?

3090 is probably ~4 PS5 and ~3 Xsx in perf.

I think it is because the metric switched from 1x FP32 to 2x FP32.

Not unless they halved the # of sms in a CUDA core.

Saw at least 10 users in the speculation thread for Ampere saying it was unlikely any YouTubers or press go hands on with the hardware.

Gah this is better than expected, I wants it! It'll be sweeeet to go from a 1080ti to this bad boy. Just need to figure out what SSD to get to not stumble on that end and then I'll jump in.

Yep, same with any others content creators who get early exclusive stuff
Any independent content creators that get exclusive scoops you can just automatically assume then being biased. It's just human nature especially if that's what is putting food on the table. I would think places like digital foundry would be more resistant to that but as their relationship grows with companies it would be pretty hard to be critical of the same company.

Shame there's no hard and fast numbers, but I'm sure they'll come down the line. Appreciate the honesty and forthrightness from Digital Foundry, though found it a bit sad they had to start filming the actual rig and cables just to try to counter conspiracy theorists.

Just from the percentage increases we can see now, it's clearly a big improvement.

So not quite the 2x 2080 performance promised in the presentation and RT performance leaps are only slightly better than rasterization improvements. Still a fantastic leap forward but this tempers a little of the hype at least.

Looks like about a 60%-80% difference from the 2080 depending on the game.

This is the biggest jump in performance on a GPU I have seen in quite some time, if ever.

And at a reasonable price point.

Incredible tbh.

I think the most exciting thing about these new cards is how much they're pushing for 4k and even 8k in the case of the 3090.

As someone that still uses a 1080p television and likely will until it up and dies on me (despite a nasty stain on the panel) I can get by with the cheapest 3000 series card and have plenty of power left over.

Heck even if I went with a 4k television I'd be fine with playing at 1080p and letting the TV scale it up to fit.

God damn, this is without PCIE 4.0, early drivers & not looking at the overclocking potential.
Speaking of PCIE 4.0, it might be a good idea for DF to do a video comparing 3.0 & 4.0.
