Did Pierce Brosnan do the double flip into the pool on Mrs. Doubtfire?

Debating this. Is it him that did the double flip into the pool or a stunt double when the family goes swimming.

This is a serious debate going on, but we are refusing to google it. There are some interesting arguments going on.

Even if he was capable of doing it, the insurance company isn't going to sign off on him doing that kind of stunt. The odds that it's him are astronomically low.

With some exceptions (Tom Cruise), actors almost never do their own stunts, even if they feel they can do it or want to do it, for insurance costs reasons.

Rule of thumb is if the shot obscures the face and there's a quick cut like that then more than likely it's a stunt double.

I heard he actually did a tripple flip originally but the cameraman didn't press record and and didn't capture it. Pierce was already drying off in his trailer and refused to come out again because he hates getting wet so they had to bring in a stunt double. They had to settle for the double flip because the stuntman couldn't do a triple like Pierce.

Also, fun fact, the cream pie in the scene that Robin dipped his face in, he actually made a cream pie himself for the scene but Pierce swapped it out for a pie with shaving cream as a prank. Robin was so pissed him and Pierce almost came to blows on the set and the director had to mediate between the two actors to finish the film

Pierce also used his personal Mercedes in the film because he refused the BMW they originally wanted for him. The scene where Robin breaks the ornament off the hood was completely unscripted as Robin was still pissed about the pie swap, but it worked so well within the film the director kept it in.

Fun fact: The actress playing Mrs. Doubtfire in that movie wasn't an actress at all. It was Robin Williams!

Forward 2 1/2 somersault in the pike position off a 3 meter board with that clean entry? It's possible...but not very likely with that lazy approach. The close shot hides what looks like a fairly weak hurdle, but hey, that's the magic of movies.
