With ampere announcement today, and prices coming at a very reasonable range. Did that affect your views on next gen consoles?

3080 seems like a super juicy card.

Jump from GTX 970 to this would be godly... but PC gaming is a pain in the ass... hmmmm... decisions

Honestly think I'm getting the 3070 and new consoles next Christmas 2021 already have gamepass ultimate and Sony exclusive have never done a ton for me and Sony will eventually release them on PC they can't pass that money up and I hate the PS controllers so I'm good.

I wasn't planning to buy PS5 and XSX at launch in the first place, but Ampere gave me even more reasons to wait for PS5.

Yeah I can't justify the price on PS5 for the fairly paltry offering at launch. But a 3070 would be such a big boost at roughly the same price point (probably will be a bit more in euros tho)

Nope. It's delaying my PC upgrade though.

I think I'll wait six months for these new GPUs to settle down. And there's the new Ryzens coming. New DX12 IO, and new PSU standards. Might as well get in on the ground floor with all these rather than sort a new PC now.

I would love to fix my PC but I'm not paying over a thousand dollars to do so, and I don't think the PS5 is worth the price they're clearly going to ask for it.

Everything's too expensive. Next gen sucks already.

This hasn't affected my decision-making at all. I don't want to spend 700-1200 on a graphics card, so I will be getting a console.

Yes. I only have the money for one thing and if I have to choose I will choose the 3080 over the PS5. I can wait until more exclusives drop.

I'm currently going back and forth on either just getting a PS5 or upgrading my PC this year. My rig currently has a 1080 in it so a 3080 would be a really nice upgrade for sure.

I was always planning on building a new rig this year, and I wasn't planning on buying next gen consoles anytime soon.

So, no.

Those video cards alone cost as much or more then the entire consoles are expected to arrive at.

doesn't really effect my purchase as a result.

Consoles are on the far back back burner now, 3070 or 3080 are unbeatable with those prices.

still planning on picking up a ps5 but waiting to see how performance numbers are with cyberpunk as i'm currently running a 2070super so i'm in no rush as a built a great rig in preparation but eyeing the 3080 + PS5 combo if i can get one if i can't manage to get a ps5 i may seriously consider a 3090 until the ps5 is readily available

Was going to get a PS5 and upgrade my graphics card eventually. Will still get a PS5 and upgrade my graphics card eventually.

Yeah I think so.

I was expecting there to be a gap, but a 3070 is like freaking double the teraflop performance of a PS5 for only $499, that's just utter destruction in performance. And with DLSS 2.0 who knows how much further that gap goes.

I was neither interested before nor now. Consoles have to have a large catalog of exclusives before I buy them.

I've yet to build a PC and have no intention of doing so in the near future. It crosses my mind from time to time but the costs are a bit wild from scratch plus extras, monitor.

Depends on what the launch window looks like for PS5, but I'm still inclined to continue with getting that at launch+new TV rather than doing a new build this year. Next year continues to be my target for a new PC build.

I'm still planning on getting a PS5 but right now building a PC sometime in the fall has priority.

Might still grab one on launch since I'm fortunate enough to afford one/not have much expenses now, but priorities have shifted for me.

It was never about power for me. It's about games. I will upgrade my PC, but I still want a PS5 alongside that.

Well the Halo delay really put a damper on my XSX plans and I don't see a reason outside of Spiderman to grab a PS5 until 2021 or 2022. I'm very tempted to try to pick up a 2080ti for my new build if they bottom barrel the price. Otherwise I'll try to grab a 3070 instead of consoles if I can just find one.

Nope.

The plan was always a RTX 30 series GPU and PlayStation 5. Both on launch.

I wasn't expecting the RTX 3080 to be such a beast but I can't really complain about that. :)

Nothing has changed. I may get a 3080 earlier than planned but everything is the same as far as my console purchase.

I was torn between getting a PS5 and holding off on upgrading my 5700 XT but I can't really stand this card and the PS5's launch lineup is straight ass so I'm probably just gonna get a 3080 and wait til spring/summer for a new console.

I wasn't really planning on getting a PS5 at launch, but after seeing the 3080 I'm not even going to really think about it. I'll probably pick one up in 2 years or so when there's a big library of exclusives to make it worth while to me.

This wasn't an option in your poll, but I had planned on getting both consoles at launch and I still plan on getting both consoles at launch. Zero hit to my enthusiasm.

I was planning on a PS5 on launch day. But the 3080 is too good to pass up.

That along with the games all being "Launch Window" games that I have interest in (Horizon 2, R&C, etc.) I will just wait till Spring 2021 or so to get one.

Still getting a PS5, but will be going in on a 3080 now.
The pricing is simply too good to pass up.

I was going to get both, but PS5 is now going to be next year at the earlist, and XSX, nope not anymore.

I'm toying with the idea of a new PC, and the 3000 series would definitely be on my radar.

But, I already was, and it doesn't affect my console plans.

Indeed, the announcements about I/O make me more excited for the PS5 tech than before. It's nice to move beyond the point where the PS5 was some kind of outlier on that front, from the idea that maybe Sony went overboard for no particular reason. That always seemed quite technically pessimistic to me, and I'm glad it's quite clear now that big and increasing I/O will be a general trend going forward. It should make for a great new front for devs to explore. So that all kind of has a bit of a halo-effect on the new generation for me.

I was always planning on forgoing buying an Xbox Series X, since everything's coming to PC going forward. But the 3080's price definitely makes me much more comfortable in that decision.
