Saw this topic, clicked in, saw the link was removed and read the OP and thought "it can't be that bad right?" and went to Kotaku expecting it to either not be as bad as described or to have already been removed but NOPE. OP was accurate and the article is still there.

I wonder if the writer doesn't know the characters are underage or thinks they aren't because of how they look but she should know who those characters are.

Actually most people should know.

Wtf

Oh they know....

In fact there are tons of games/books/shows/movies starring kids and teenagers that you can't really say you were unaware of unless you are reading an alternate universe story each time you go over it? Yet nevertheless people, adults, pointedly, (if you're the same age group obviously it's negligible) will playfully fantasize about them as their girlfriend/boyfriend or write smut about these characters nutting and the like (and, yes, create explicit visual renditions of them engaged in who knows what activity in devil may care contexts).

But that's another can of worms for (*checks watch*) probably a later thread in a few hours that someone will put up. :p

In all seriousness, on topic, Kotaku should collect themselves here. And mind what they are to say.... this is clearly a fair ways more delicate than free pornographic distribution of Harry Potter fan images and animation across the web that they may have forgotten is not perceived as normally by others outside the fandom might have implied!

"Clearly this article is an investigation and attack on these types of games, and all the images are heavily censored."

*clicks thread*

Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope.

Just doing a quick look out curiosity, they have a rule on child pornography, not depictions of potentially underage cartoon/game characters. The first few dozen posts seems to be littered with characters that could be considered underage.

Ultimately I'm not sure what to say about this. On one hand it's a dumb and rather pointless article, on the other hand the outrage feels a bit overstated I guess? I mean Pokemon and Harry Potter porn have existed in huge amounts across the internet since the 90s to the point of parody. It isn't illegal material. Morally objectionable sure, but at the same time we should probably recognize what is now allowed to be sold on Steam, and what people are allowed to do via SFM with no consequences. It's just hard to be up in arms about a stupid ill-advised joke article of this kind I guess.
Yeah idk what that person is talking about, Reddit is full of stuff like this, as is the rest of the internet. It's gross and Kotaku shouldn't be posting it on their fucking website but like...this is not a remotely new phenomenon.

I don't believe for one second that people in this thread that have anime/JRPG avatars acting outraged have never seen R34 like this. That's like a statistical impossibility.
Oh excuse me that I mixed the two up. I am so sorry. What a great point to address in this thread while it isn't even the main subject. Bravo.
I mean you said something stupid and I called you out on it.

Is this illegal in the US? My understanding is it is not. Not speaking for elsewhere or in approval of the content, just the US legality.
No it's not illegal in the US.

It's creepy as fuck, but it doesn't include actual children/underage teens, so it's not technically illegal. Not arguing that it's not harmful or anything like that, just using facts and logic.

So due to that, I highly doubt any legal action will come of this. Especially nonsense like calling the FBI on someone for posting SFM porn. That's a giant waste of their time. At best, the person will be fired from their position (doubtful). At worst, nothing will happen. I predict the article being pulled, but that's it.

Lol, wow.

Well, at least the article makes the good and salient point that Link deserves hunky porn incarnations.

Nothing from anybody on Kotaku? PR people, editors? Has this seriously been online for an hour+ with no response?

EDIT: speak of the devil

I clicked the link earlier, since people are spouting stupid excuses or reasoning for these character depictions.

The Hermione one is the Goblet of Fire model, when she was around 14 years old.
Misty is depicted as the same exact design from the anime. 12 years old.
Zelda is 16/17 years old.

Who the fuck will defend this?

UPDATE!
Editor's Note: This story originally included screenshots from the Harry Potter and Pokemon animated porn parodies. We've removed those images after readers expressed discomfort over some of the scenes, and believe that words can sufficiently explain the material.
They replaced those pics by Zelda porn instead.

Uhhh.
They're still not excusing the fact this was approved.

They've removed some of the images and put this at the bottom....

Also the article is not down and is still live. I've just checked as of 3:42 EDT.

Based on the headline...I thought people were exaggerating, before looking at the article. They weren't.

At the very least, those pictures should be removed. Bad judgment call by one or more of the editors, to put it lightly.

I actually have no problem with kotaku doing an article on peoples adult video game creations. But i agree those pictures where completely unnecessary and should have atleast been censored, the term NSFW exist for a reason...
