Umm...I guess at this point I shouldn't be surprised, some of the shit that Kotaku spews out of their newsroom is god awful but this is a new low.

Yes, writing about sex games at Kotaku is literally her job. That's why all her past articles are also about sex games.

What's the point here?

you seem awfully defensive about someone posting literal video game child pornography, wanna say something else about it?

You should see the article about Sims fucking in public.

There's a rabbit hole of NSFW posts on Kotaku and this thread only scratches the surface. But most of them are, you know, not illegal.

I've no problems with the idea of talking about sex in video games, I just don't see the point in this case when the article (and possibly the Sims one, I've not read it) doesn't really have anything to say. Like, I don't go posting what kind of porn I've watched on here. An d that's all it seems this was about. It's bizarre. And this obviously isn't getting into the underage bit of it all.

I'm not going to go and compare this to actual child porn, but it's nonetheless really fucking weird choices she picked to share. It's not really something that people should be fine just putting out there.

WOW!

Even after reading the posts in this thread I was not expecting the images to be that graphic. Good Lord.

Why on earth did they not censor them somehow? I wonder how many people have accidentally opened that at work or around friends or family.

I wonder if they can get into trouble with the IP holders for those images, like I imagine Nintendo is pissed about the Zelda one.

Disgusting stuff.

Yeah, well good luck to them. Blizzard tried to scrub overwatch porn off the internet and that went nowhere for them lol. Cause there is mountains of Zelda related porn out there.

"I read on Kotaku that this animated child porn is better than Civ V: The Brave New World expansion pass."

Just Tweeted Stephen Tortillo about this. This is so disgusting at so many levels that he approved this article.

Child. Porno. Is. Bad.
Stop dismissing it.

When have I ever said this article is ok? When have I dismissed that the article is bad?

I'm just concerned about people using this shit as a cover to start bringing in GG-level rhetoric about sites they hate and especially them starting to focus in on the writer, with 0 idea how much of this was due to the writer and not the editor or what they were assigned to talk about. Especially given that people immediately started insulting their past writing or acting like she was writing all of it without supervision, instead of it being her job to write only about that topic?

The thread should probably just be locked at this point, imo. It's moving too fast, everyone's saying the same stuff, and this is just going to escalate.

There's kind of a weird section of Gen Z internet where it's socially acceptable to post porn if it's used for comedy. It's all over Twitter. It's probably jarring for people who aren't used to it.

And of course, this author took it twenty steps too far. I'm glad I wasn't curious enough to click on the article, because it sounds FBI OPEN UP levels of bad.

This is seriously a kamikaze article, why would you even research underage videogame porn in the first place?

Sackable offence. There is no excusing this. The blame lays with the writer and the editor who okayed it to be uploaded. A serious statement sacking the two and apology from Kotaku against this trash will suffice. I'm not giving them another click until this happens. They currently don't deserve it.

This is not GG rhetoric. You might find one or two assholes lurking but the outrage here is wholly justified

The concern trolling of people taking this to GG-level rhetoric is hilarious.

Why the theatrics? People are calling out the disturbing content for what it is, stop being weird about it.

Can we sue kotaku? They should be investigated and penalized. This is beyond disturbing. I never went on their site and now I m going to block their site from my browser indefinitely

Damn, didn't know this was the audience to which they catered now. Haven't been a regular reader since the console wars began anew in '12.

Hey, I'll admit that I did cross a line with my previous post. It was closed minded of me to say that she should be fired based on her writing only about sex games. Sorry, dude. :( But this article having really explicit pictures sounds like it really did cross a line in and of itself, and I don't want to open the link myself, admittedly, based on everyone else's reactions. Though banning Kotaku solely from this one article is not something I agree with.

Sensible takes are rare in this day and age, and it's nice to see one expressed here.
