If you think they didn't give the approval on this you're bang wrong. Totilo would have seen it in the CMS, read it and the news editor would then have scheduled it.

I clicked the link because the OP used the word "implied", but I really should have scrolled down to some of the comments first. I'm sure I'm on a watchlist now.
Looking at the previous articles for this author, I see a pattern:

There's seemingly nothing wrong with them so it's weird to look at them alone as if it's fine to insult them. And similarly, even jumping on the writer to begin with... you guys know an editor definitely was involved, right? Maybe wait till you know how this happened, who decided to include what.

Well that's the thing isn't it?
There are plenty of journalists in gaming that do great work. The only problem is it tends to take weeks, months, or even years of interviews, investigations, fact-checking, etc. Websites live and die by clicks, and nobody can afford to wait for these articles to materialize.
Still, I'd rather Kotaku do something, anything, besides publish an article about underage porn.
Most page views and highest click rate they've had for ages, it'll be up for at least another 3 hours so other 'news outlets' can report about it and create some extra 'buzz'.
A shock piece, and by the looks of this thread a pretty damn effective one. Get them clicks Kotaku. *shrug*

I didn't say anywhere that posting child porn is fine, just saying that it's odd that people are asking for kotaku to be banned for something that will likely get resolved and get an statement for in a few hours.

the write-up is fine, delving into the realm of video game porn with good humor is fine, it just seems like the relevant people failed to distinguish between this particular corner of video game porn with others covered in the past and thus didn't take extra measures to present it more...appropriately
tip to Kotaku: keep article, delete and/or censor pictures, don't overreact to bad faith actors
it's one of those things where it should have been done in the first place . for a site to not have any checks or balances to stop this it needs to be looked at extensively
Seems like a really weird thing to bring up criticism of Japanese game developers as a negative in reference to the content of this article specifically.
