I mean if you wanted to write an article about the proliferation of R34 you could do that without including the actual R34 content.

Should've known not to keep reading when I reached the "I'm lucky to have friends who want to snack and porn and also snuggle with a fluffy dog".
Did not expect to see that Hermione pic... even worse that she actually looks like young Emma Watson.

Maybe Kotaku needs to go back on the banned sites list here.

It... wasn't ever, was it?

Like don't get me wrong: the article is bizarre. But people who still have grudges against the site - and they have some great staff that aren't Jason, so don't just point to him as your exception - sure are using this as an excuse to voice as much instead of actually commenting on what happened.

If you're gonna make an article about this (WHY THOUGH?)

At least hide the images behind an NSFW blur clickthru, or censor the damn images.

Put NSFW in the headline or the lede/preview so you know what you're getting into, and finally:

Good god, kotaku, how did this even make it to the publishing phase? What Editorial manager saw this and went 'yeah, this is fine."??!

Imagine being the editor of the article. This piece comes across your inbox/desk. And then you're like "yep, looks great, ship it"
Wtf?

Hey man I don't care if you spend your time desiring to write an article about porn. But if you are gonna do it, maybe make sure the things mentioned are properties where the protagonists are at least of age. Seems like, the first thing. Is to not possibly commit a crime. There is probably myriad of of age 3d porn you could post. Don't do the ones that's actually a crime. That's ontop of " Hey underage porn isn't good, don't post or ingest it " outside of possibly being a crime.

Also if you enjoy fictional rape play stuff, that's your buisness. But if you are writing an article about porn, maybe don't put it in the article because that's based off this real thing that people have experienced that's horrifying that could possibly trigger them or at least warn people that's gonna be in there

Looking at the previous articles for this author, I see a pattern:

I haven't, and probably won't read those articles so I can't speak to them. But in general there's nothing wrong with just writing about sex related to video games and the industry. But the article in the OP is on a different fucking level.

Okay so going back to see whether sexually explicit content is allowed under the category of "Sex games", I find that it indeed is.

So, it looks like the fuck up is squarely relegated to this article afaik.
